Fun Boss Fights

So, there's a thread about bosses that drive you crazy. Why don't we go the other way? Why don't we talk about boss fights that you just enjoy, because they're just...fun.

For me, the most fun I've ever had fighting a boss was the battle against Goht in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. The fight takes place around a circular path. You transform into a Goron, roll into a ball, and chase Goht around the arena while dodging his attacks and grabbing magic potions along the way. After a very challenging dungeon in Snowhead, this boss fight is really just a breather and a way to roll around and just enjoy yourself. I could play this boss fight over and over again, because it's just that enjoyable. I love rolling around and never stopping. The only thing I dislike about the fight is the end, because you don't get to finish Goht off yourself. But other than that, it's a blast.

Im gonna go old school and say against Dr Robotnik in the 1st level of Sonic, im not a big game player but i alwayd enjoyed dodging that bulldozer and spinning that cunt into submission, this may not be an end of game level but it is still technically against the boss, so it still counts i guess.

My favourite boss fight is from Mass Effect 2, the final mission and you have to take down current threat to the universe and Terminus Systems, aboard the Collector Base and the use of team mate selection strategy makes it very entertaining especially if you've completely levelled up.

The most fun boss battle Ive played was the final boss fight(s) in kingdom hearts 2. Where you just fight through the city and you have riku on your team at some points and your chasing the ship and you just go through all these trippy stages of the boss fight. lol sorry i cant remember much of it havent played KH2 in a long time but i do remember how fun that boss fight was. I always have fun with those boss fights where you start and you cant go back to heal or rest and you just have to go until you either get owned or you beat them. Kind of like the elite 4 in pokemon to make the post make a little more sense

Fun boss fights that quickly come to mind for me would be any of the battles in Tales of Symphonia when you are forming pacts with the elementals.... and they are fun because of several reasons, I'll list a few here.

1. Every elemental's boss battle has "Fighting of the Spirit" playing the background, which is my personal pick for the best battle theme ever.

2. They are challenging enough on normal mode.... when trying to face them at hard or mania difficulty it gets beyond epic. It's not the annoying type of difficult that ticks you off, it's the fun kind that many hardcore gamers desire, it makes you try harder to enjoy it even more!

3. The elementals have cool sounding voice-overs, some of which are very funny.

4. The storyline points behind these battles (play it for yourself to find out, I'm not spoiling it.)

One of my favorites of these elementals is Gnome. He looks really stupid, but looks are deceiving. The battle is actually pretty tough. While not the toughest elemental boss (that award goes to Luna & Aska), it's an entertaining battle. Gnome's voice-over is hilarious, he sounds so weird! He also has a very laid-back, lazy, and somewhat rude tone when he talks to the party before the battle begins.... and another plus is the silly face he makes when you attack him (see video).... Oh, and all sorts of bizarre attacks, one has him spinning his bow like a helicopter and chasing a random character. Very fun battle and I look forward to it every time I play through the game.

The final showdowns with Ganondorf, while almost always relatively straightforward and almost easy, are always fun, usually becuase the multi-layered approach to the battle. Ocarina of Time was great from the finding Ganondorf playing the ominous organ music that has welcomed you as you rose up the last staircase to the battle with raised platforms, escaping from the crumbling tower with Zelda and the final showdown with Ganon (crushing his tail with the Megaton Hammer).

But I think Twilight Princess might have even surpassed that. Taking on the possessed Zelda, facing Ganon as wolf Link, chasing Ganondorf on horseback with Epona and then facing him mano-a-mano with the Master Sword in hand, with the awesome final blow (not quite as good as Wind Waker.

The "Colossi" in Shadow of the Colossus were fun to beat. Just climb, try not to fall, find its weak spots, and kill it. They were fun for me to beat, especially with all the different giants and different ways to kill them. This game and Ico are coming to the PS3 in Hi-Def next year.
