FSU & WWE

THE Great GAMMA

Pre-Show Stalwart
Over the past while WWE and Full Sail University have become quite close business associates, what with NXT filmed there and the WWE Training facility being built.

Now in my humble opinion this creates a great opportunity for the WWE to really give back to the community by educating the next generation. (not that I'm old, I'm only 28)

If it was viable what i would do is unless the guys or girls are established that are coming in (Say for e.g and this is a hope guys from TNA like Bobby Roode or James Storm or Austin Aries) make them have to enroll in the University (give them bursaries or something) and make them study something that will benefit them if wrestling doesn't pan out.

Have them attend classes maintain a minimum GPA and train after class times.
Because they have been given the bursary have them be tied to WWE for a year after completion of their studies (giving them a years worth of work experience) in a wrestling capacity or otherwise.

Besides the in ring side of things they should also have classes on the finer aspects like mic work and cutting promos.

in this way WWE can recruit younger talent who may not of had the opportunity to go to college, and by the time they are done the chances of them not only becoming well rounded performers but well rounded people is greatly increased.

In this way WWE cannot only produce the next big thing in wrestling but the best behind the scenes crew and writers and producers. because if a guy dreams of becoming a pro-wrestler it means they have a passion for the business and if they have a passion for the business then they want it to succeed even if they do not.

Can you just imagine sitting in Prof Ric Flair's class of Wrestling Promos 101?:worship:
A Bret Hart In-ring Psychology 103? :stupid:
Mic Foley "Cheap Pop 202"?
Johnny Ace "Wrestling Polotics" 305?:banghead:

Would also help employ more people and keep people who shouldn't be anymore.

I know this is kind of Naive but its food for thought.

You should just spell out Full Sail University instead of FSU. I live in Florida and I thought you were talking about Florida State University lol.

I like your ideal but I think most people attending Full Sail would be people working on the television like working the titian-tron and graphics in the production truck. Now the school has classes where you can get a Bachelor's degree in "Creative Writing for Entertainment". Aside for that, I don't think many people know how much a degree from Full Sail Costs. You are probably end up paying in between 45,000 to 60,000, even more for a degree.

Full Sail is an art school. It's not FSU either it's just Full Sail. WWE could send it's truck guys their, but, it wouldn't benefit their wrestlers much, seeing as how most people don't finish from their unless they have a scholarship and are really interested in what they are doing

Sorry bud. I'm from South Africa, I really didnt know.

I also didn't know that Full Sail was an arts College. I just went and Googled the programs that they offer. To be honest a degree in Sport Management and Marketing or Entertainment management doesn't sound too bad for a guy/girl that's going to be in that environment.

It would also help to have people pitching idea's that are in the main demopgraphic of people that the WWE have begun alienating in recent times (Males 18-30). This would be a great way to get rid of the Soap Opera writers and Freddie Prince Jr (Yes the 90s Teen Movie guy) from the creative process and put in place people who actually studied with the purpose of being part of the Wrestling business. Can you imagine that people with a passion for wrestling, writing a wrestling show.

I also wonder if the WWE have any Female writers??

But who's to say they still have any passion for "wrestling" they are training in Sports & Entertainment not "Wrestling" and it would be a job of hell not a passion, the writers are not the creative decision makers, they just give ideas the real people at fault are your Stephanie McMahons and ultimately Vince McMahon that allow it to go to TV

Also might add that as much as i don't like it either, Reality Crap, Soap Operas, Drama's hell "entertainment" draws 100's of millions of people in each week, Wrestling, UFC and Sports in general does not they are not the same entertainment value they once were.

I could use our local Australian sports as an example, at one point the whole country would be glued to watch any form of Sport and it was because there were great characters that didn't give have to give a shit about the media breathing down there necks every second of the day and weren't being paid millions of dollars a season. Then everything got too serious and there were less and less characters and more and more generic players that were not allowed to do any media without being hand fed what to say by there bosses so they didn't make a fool of themselves or there team and they were more interested in pay packets then performing for the crowd. Wrestling is no different.

The entire point of the OP's post, like always, went way over your guys' heads. What he's saying is that WWE could set in stone a rule where a student must have X amount of college credits in order to pursue a career in WWE. Whether that be from Full Sail or another college, a clause like that would do wonders. Afterall, being a WWE superstar for life is anything but a guarantee. I personally think something like this would be great, and would help give people a plan b.

Exactly what I was trying to get at. If they can get these folks educated too while learning their craft it would be a huge positive. Think about this. How many of these guys would of had the chance to go to college in the first place?
