From lesbian kiss segments to necrophilia...

Pre-Show Stalwart
WWE is trying to change their product to the general public to pg after soooo many years of ass kicking violent adult oriented tv show's that used to bring in very high rating's of up in the high 6's.

From Bischoff's lesbian kiss segments to Vince McMahons ass kissing segment's to HHH banging a dead corpse to Edge and Lita live sex show...

How in the world can anyone really take WWE seriously about the pg era when they created a product that was second to none, and what everyone expected each and every week. i'm pretty sure the whole family oriented product is because Linda McMahon is running for Congress. The McMahon's are probably one of the richest power couples in the world, and why take a great and fun adult oriented product and try to erase it's histoy for more power and politic's. Is billion's of dollars in your bank accoiunt enough already?

So my question is... besides the outrageous one's I mentioned above, what other Segment's really jump into your head that would be hard for any WWE fan to forget... when trying to choke down a pG show now THINKING... what the hell happened with WWE.

Clearly it is easier to forget then you think as, unless I'm greatly mistaken (which I very much doubt) the highest any of those ideas got in the ratings was a 4.5, most hovered around the 3.8 range (according to the Neilsen people anyway).

You want the stuff that brought the highest ratings? That was Foley visiting Vince in hospital (very childish) Rock & Foley's "This is your life" (again, very childish segment). Other memorable moments are the Austin beer hosedown, Austin Vs McMahon that never happened, Tyson & Austin, Undertaker & Kane in cahoots against Austin. Rock turning corporate.

Basically it's not the product that creates the low ratings, it's the lack of that superstar on the level of Rock or Austin. I mean, to me, it seems that, at present, that next super-duper star isn't on the roster at the moment so, why not just consolidate and get more power, and make sure you keep trucking along nicely till you do. You can't force the roster on the fans or you'll end up with a shitload of Lex Lugers and even worse ratings.

And to use ass kissing and corpse banging as an example of a product that's second to none is just strange, especially with all the actual great moments the WWE has had that were actually enjoyed by the majority of fans

One that still stands out to me is the whole Taker storyline where they sacrificed (or was gonna) Stephanie McMahon....

Anything with Austin/McMahon and Austin with Philman..there soo many "memorable" things happened then..

Yeah, that Brian Philman was great....Pillman. He was too great NOT to know his real name.

I think that saying the corpse banging and HLA is a "strange" example of that period. I think it's a great example of that period. It goes along with Steph being "sacrificed" only to have Vince be the mastermind behind the corporate ministry or DX having chicks flash their tits all the time. That was the era. The beer bath was great, Rock and Austin fighting on the bridge, Austin making Vince piss himself with the fake gun. These are all great representations of the Attitude Era. I LOVE the Val Venis/Keintai thing! The "choppy choppy" was HILARIOUS. That whole era was just amazing and I am really sad we're stuck in a PG era now. But at least they don't have larger than life characters like the Repo man and stuff. While that was entertaining, 98-05 was a renaissance in the E.

The most outrageous to me was Mae Young giving birth to the hand or whatever that was i was totally f***ing grossed out by that.....but i have to agree Mick visiting the Vince in the hospital is one of my all time favorites and that was a PG moment....I think its fine that they want to tone things down for a wider audience but they've just gone too far i mean seriously stopping matches for blood is just ridiculous.

The Mark Henry tranny segment crossed the line and really upset my stomach. Maybe a more moderate attitude era might work today; however, we've seen everything under the sun already.

Gtv was wicked even tho we never got to find out who it was
sable and her handprinted bikini, kings face was princeless
undertaker crucifying austin, and than undertaker crucifying steph and austin coming down to save her

It may not be that outrageous, but I miss the puppies. You remember them, if not ask the King. The outfits that barely covered the divas and had wardrobe malfunction written all over them, and had you glued to the TV hoping for a nip slip, I miss that. Who can't say they didn't look foward to Melina with the bikini like bottoms doing a split during her enterance. I can do without the blood, the senseless violence and the language, but when they took the T&A out of the WWE, they took a piece of me with it.

Not hearing the King scream Puppies is like not hearing Joey Styles yell Oh My God!

i miss everything back then, doesn't matter. i wouldn't mind a Katie Vick angle over this stuff they're showing nowadays to be honest (*shudders*)

i think the reason it was more entertaining back then was because it was more loose. any storylines were good storylines. nowadays, you gotta censor something or change the good parts of an angle to where it becomes irrelevant (Nexus invading RAW was great! but then you fire someone for choking them with a tie, back then that wouldn't have happened). 5 years ago wasn't that great, but look at the ratings now. they're going in the gutter. Vince needs to go to what gave him fame and money. make it more modern instead of going back to the old Hogan WWF-like era.

I miss the nip slips most, we got to see sable, jaqueline, terri runnels, and even a shot of Steph once. sigh....good times, good times! I'm sure there were more, feel free to remind me if you want!

For some reason the few i was most surprised about weren't found as offensive as others:
Like Snitsky causing Lita to have a miscarriage.
After seeing Cartman on the WWE episode of South Park, talking about how he's addicted to abortions. That's what i think of now. And that would have made a great storyline 10 years ago.

The other was The Rock telling Eric Bischoff he'll get him a whole lot of poon tang pie. Only to have Mae Young in lingerie come out and give EB a bronco buster. It was like EB's face went right up there.
i enjoyed it a lot but it was still surprising that they'd have an entire storyline about cunnalingus.

And Hawk of the Road Warriors falling off the Titantron where they wrote his irl alcohol abuse into a storyline and made fun of him. That was pretty shitty of Russo and Vince to do.

Yet, the only storyline that i am still offended by was how they used DDP when he came in. He stalked Undertaker's ugly ass wife Sara with these "creepy" promos of him watching her through the window. Undertaker was in his american baddass gimmick, which was also offensive.
A lot of how they used the Alliance members after the invasion like Tommy Dreamer eating out of a dustpan.

i like the ridiculous storylines a lot. Seeing HHH humping Katie Vick was more confusing and stupid than it was offensive. If he were humping a dead little girl or boy, then i'd be offended. Or any child molestation angle.

Some other stupidly great storylines.
-Ladder match for the custody of Dominique. Really weird and funny
-Pillman doesn't call 911
-Mizark Henry's love child. To this day he still gets shitty storylines.
-Perry Saturn <3 Moppy.
-Big Boss Man eating Pepper steak.
the list can go on and on.

Yea, Pillman was too great of a star, i really miss him being there...

Yah i totally forgot, the whol giving birth to a hard thing...i even shudder at that

How about the on-screen death of Al Wilson (Torrie's kayfabe father)? He was humping him some Dawn Marie and supposedly had a heart attack and that was the rivalry for the best diva on Smackdown in 02-03; a wicked stepmom storyline. I don't recall anything in the Attitude Era going for SNUFF film but in the early 2000s they really crossed the line and nobody noticed. Gotta love WWE - keep it subliminal and you might pull one over the kiddies.
