Freshness in the Tag Team Division

Not sure how long Jey Uso will be out but in a way i think its a blessing in disguise for the tag team division. I am all about the Usos and believe they have carried the Tag Team division within the last 2 years. However, due to lack of competetion i think the WWE has overused them where they were beginning to become bland. With Kidd&Cesaro as champions and Lucha Dragons now on the main roster it looks like they may be the next contenders to the Tag titles. I think this will really be good to give the division a fresh change of pace. When the Usos return in a few months they can really pick up so much more momentum.


What are you guys thoughts and ideas for the Tag Division?

Anyway, yeah they desperately needed new tag teams. Usos are great though but injury opens up opportunity.

The Lucha Dragons were great tonight on RAW, and we have the new Rey Mysterio in Kallisto. Extreme crowd pleasers, and the move he did on Cesaro was awesome.

New Day is going nowhere and neither are the Ascension. If either of those teams disband then it's time for Big Cass and Enzio to debut. Can't wait to hear Enzio on the mic in the middle of a RAW telecast.

I think the tag division would benefit from having a moment on the calendar that's its equivalent of the Royal Rumble or Money In the Bank. Do it in the dead months of fall, give the title shot at Survivor Series.

Now whether that's a tournament or one match - I don't know. I don't like dragging out tournaments when most people know who's going to win.

Lastly If they're going to emphasize teamwork and get back to tag team matches looking like tag team matches instead of trading hot tags then maybe I can get on board.

kalisto looked fantastic tonight and I think with Kidd Cesaro they can really re-invigorate the division.

creative needs to take an innovative approach to the tag division though and all its lower and mid card divisions. The chase makes the title as much as the champion. Giving each division a unique contenders match that's its alone and no one else's would be great.

I don't need a tag title match at every PPV, sometimes its better to feature a contenders match in a unique setting. I always look forward to RR and MITB the other titles don't have anything like that I can look forward to year in and year out.

Some time off for the Uso brothers will allow them some room to breathe and become fresh again, although I don't think it would hurt if the healthy one saw some singles competition. I wouldn't mind seeing him pick up some matches on NXT.

Lucha Dragons looked great on Raw. That spot Kalisto hit off Cesaro's shoulders was sick. I'm really looking forward to their fued.

As far as other teams go. New Day is failing miserably to connect with fans. Kofi used to be very over, but with New Day he's being booed out of the building. They need to turn these guys heel weeks ago. Same shtick, just have them criticize the crowd for not buying in to their positivity. Play up the soul and gospel angle, the power of positivity but leave race the hell out of it.

If they turn heel, Ascension should be considered for a face turn. They've failed to garner heat, why not try and garner some support? Don't turn have them kiss babies, just have them be badass. Ditch the face point or follow Sting and paint the whole thing. They look like they got their faces done at the kiddie carnival from hell. I know alignment changes are the easy way out, but both New Day and the Acension have suffered from poor booking choices, it's time for drastic measures.

Let's get some people teamed up. There's a lot of guys going no where. Luke Harper just competed on superstars and Erick Rowan has failed to connect with fans. The Wyatt Family has serious unfinished business such as Prime Time Players. They don't need to go back to Wyatt, they can just be Harper and Rowan.

I'd like to see Heath Slater, Adam Rose, and Bo Dallas all aren't doing much. The singles seen is pretty crowded at the moment. Slater and Rose seem like a natural fit with the respective rocker gimmicks.

^I have a thing for taking underutilized talent and refreshing them - I never thought of Slater and Rose. I like the idea, would like to hear more about it.

One team I really do want to see though is Bo Dallas team up with Brad Maddox. The tag division needs a team that can get mic time and deliver and these two can. I'm just imagining great chemistry between the two. Like Eddie and Chris in WCW - would love to see the earmuffs brought back.

Wwe needs to execute a double turn down the road with The New Day and Kidd & Cesaro.
The tag team scene isn't horrible, its WWE's failure to care for it (in lack of a better term).
There's Cesaro/Kidd, The Ascension, Uso's, Matadores, New Day, PTP, And now Lucha Dragons All of which are some good/great teams.
Wwe could easily add Show/Kane, put Harper and Rowan back together, and put some superstars that are not being used together like (Axel & Maddox) to make a team If needed.
I would love to start seeing elimination tag matches and even tornado tag matches, or even the titles being defended in Cage matches, Tables matches, Ladder matches, etc.
I also want to see the tag scene get storylines even if they are as simple as Show/Kane are attacking teams during matches and backstage only for Cesaro and Kidd steps up to fight them.

I'd also love to see the Vaudevilliains, along with Bull Dempsey brought up to join a yet again repackaged Cody Rhodes in an "old school" horseman/evolution-esque midcard stable.

Let me start out by saying pointless comments like this drive me nuts!!! Everybody knows you arent considered on the "main roster" until you are made official on Raw or Smackdown. This was so not needed!!

Now onto the issue at hand - I like what they are starting to do with the tag division. There are a few things I would like to see happen to help deepen the division.

1) Turn New Day heel - they really don't have to switch up their gimmicks even. But the are much better suited as heels. I could even see putting them with Bo Dallas & letting them drive the entire midcard crazy with motivation!

2) stop making tag team wrestlers into singles wrestlers. They need to keep some tag teams around for the long term - like the Road Warriors, Midnight Express, Freebirds, etc

3) Make divas Tag Titles. This would add an entire different level to tag team wrestling & would help solidify the Divas movement.

I am like everybody else & have many more ideas but overall I feel these are some minor changes that could be made to better solidify the upward momentum the tag division is already seeing.

Honorable mentions: Unmask the Matadors & see PeterSellersSTLs idea about the Vaudevillians stable.....that's brilliant!

WWE needs to shake things up within the tag division in a big way. Right now the face teams consist of The Usos, New Day, *Los Matadores, Lucha Dragons, and PTP (who knows what the hell is going on with them though...) The heel teams include Cesaro/Kidd and The Ascension. Right now, there is one legitimate team worth a title shot and they're injured... I think Usos and New Day need to turn as do Cesaro/Kidd, PTP need to make themselves felt in a big way, and WWE needs to add a couple of legitimate tag teams to replace the loss of The Dusts and Miz/Mizdow.

I think its rumored that The Briscoes may be making their way in (though that might just be Jay if I remember correctly) and we can't rule out the promotion of another NXT Tag Team. However, I think WWE should just team up Show and Kane and make them legitimate foil for some of the other teams. At least it would keep them out of the main event scene...

I think now that the odd couple Miz and Mizdow have gone their separate ways it is time for another odd couple.

Step forward 'Mr Lost In The Shuffle' Dean Ambrose. Popular with the crowd, very good at comedy lets see him paired up with someone like Erick Rowan or Luke Harper. I think he could get super over from teaming him with someone as strange, equally as strange.

Worked well with Rock/Mankind, Booker/Goldust, Bryan/Kane!!!

They did the same as last year and have split a lot of teams at once. That probably isn't a smart thing but at least they are now trying to fix that.

Honestly, that is a decent group of tag-teams. There is a good amount of talent and a nice range of styles/gimmicks. Indeed, there is always the option of forming new teams. Most importantly, they can further use NXT. Big Cass and Enzo are wonderful and Blake and Murphy are extremely effective.

The division is suddenly looking up. There have been false storms but the tag-division can be a useful asset and hopefully the WWE treat it as such. They can use various combinations on Raw/Smackdown with guys like Cesaro, Kidd, Kofi, Big E, Kalisto and Sin Cara all being available for decent singles matches. I'm suddenly interested.

I am going to say that the tag team division is weak, but has potential depending on WWE creative.

Cesaro and Kidd. - both talented guys that weren't doing anything solo. Put together as a team. Heel tag team title place holders waiting on new face team.

The Uso's - only real team on the list. These guys have been consistently booked and gave the titles meaning. Had good feuds with a lot of teams and factions. Sidelined due to injury.

New Day - another group of singles guys that weren't doing anything solo. WWE dropped the ball with all three guys now they threw them together in an annoying faction that no one cares about. WWE mentality that clapping and dancing will get you over.

Lucha Dragons - the next kid friendly face tag team champs if they get over. With Rey gone, they need a Lucha to sell masks. Kids love the masks. Exciting and high flying.

Los Matedores - two talented guys stuck in a stupid gimmick that no one cares about. Drop the gimmick, kick the bull to the curb, and start being a mean heel tag team.

PTP - Just a realization that WWE shouldn't have split them up in the first place. They were starting to get over a little and they were broken up. Broken up just for the stake of just breaking them up. Went nowhere as singles. Hope it's not too late.

The Ascension - WWE dropped the ball with their debut and gimmick. They were fine in NXT and should have kept that look. WWE should have had them beat down the USOs 1st night. But no they go after Miz and Mizdow? WTF? Then they go to beating jobbers and looking like LOD light claiming they are a the best team ever. Ugh....

WWE needs to make us care about these teams and make the belt feel important. The need to build real feuds and build consistency. No more your the #1 contender because you upset the champs crap. The US and IC titles feel a little more important now because of who holds them, they need to get there with the tag belts. Tag matches, tag title matches need to close out a RAW or SMACKDOWN on occasion. Let the team have time to showcase their talents.

There are 7 teams, if they can add 1-3 more, I think the division will be well rounded.

I like the idea of Ambrose and Rowen. Definitely this years odd couple team.

If Zeb is returning, pair Swagger with someone and revitalize the real Americans. We the people is over.

For a third, maybe bring up Enzo and Cass or use Big Show & Kane as the corporate tag team.

The addition of the Lucha Dragons can make for some invigorating matches. If Vince is looking for the next Rey Mysterio, Kalisto is the guy. There were some awesome spots in his match last night, especially with Cesaro in the ring, and I couldn't help but think that Kalisto was pulling off stuff that WWE officials were hoping the original Sin Cara would bring, just without all the botches.

Personally, I think they should put Harper & Rowan back together as a team. Neither of them is doing anything right now and I don't see really why they broke them up in the first place. They were a great duo of big men and I thought they brought some uniqueness to the tag team division.

The division is getting interesting and with a few tweaks and a couple additions it could be very good. I agree they should unmask Los Matadors and turn them heel. Then add about 3 teams. Here are 5 possible teams some have already been mentioned
1. Real Americans: Swagger & Riley
2. Big Show & Kane
3. Rose & Slater
4. Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel
5. R-Truth & Zack Ryder

If you add 3 of them to the 7 already there it wouldake for some good match ups.

It got potential. The New Day looking like they're turning heel finally. Lucha Dragons finally getting some exposure. Kidd and Cesaro are legit. PTP is back. I wish Rhodes Scholars get back together and Miz and Goldust become a tag team, midcard is too crowded right now for Miz, Goldust, Sandow and Cody solo runs.
