Very tough draws for POP: Two Thrones and WWF No Mercy, two of my favorite games in the tourney. Oh well, let's see how things go.

Biggest match of Round 2 so far is OoT vs. MGS, two of the biggest games of the 90s on their respective consoles, despite OoT being the Number 1 seed, MGS could pose a big threat here. Plus two icons in Link vs. Snake...time to play SSB Brawl.

I'd be more upset that Punch-Out lost if not for the HUGE upset of Super Mario Galaxy over FFX. My wife begged for a Wii for Christmas because she'd played Galaxy on a friend's console while on vacation and became hooked. It's a sickeningly fun game to play.

Is Nintendo the greatest gaming company ever? I honestly would put my vote in for them. Link and Mario are super strong in this tournament, and rightfully so. FF is taking a huge beating. I feel sorry for anyone going up against The Plumber and The Elf (is he an elf?), that means you, Snake, Pokemon, and Donkey Kong. And they are even facing off in two that should be super good. and thats only half of the field.

Crap, MGS is gonna have to go, at least by my vote. I've always backed the entire MGS franchise over most others, but I cannot vote it over OoT. It's unfortunate that it has to exit the tournament so quickly, but that's how these things go - there's always an innocent casualty.

I'm excited for that match...both MGS and OOT brought a huge lease of life into their respective franchises.

I just downloaded and played Tony Hawk Pro Skater. After all these years and a zillion sequels and knockoffs, the original is still the boss (and the killer sound track plays no small role in that title). Definitely deserved to win that match up.

Matches to watch out for in Round II:

Little Big Planet 2 119 -v- Super Bomberman 75: Both are very innovative games.

Mario Kart 64 -v - Pokemon Black/White 79: Two huge franchises and both games were innovative in certain ways. But I expect Mario Kart to take it here.

Contra -v - Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic : If Contra wins, it will go up against Goldeneye in the next round which will be a fantastic match-up. Two shooting games both great fun and both well recieved for their times.

1 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time -v -61 Metal Gear Solid: MGS is a solid threat to the number one seed.

13 The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past -v -49 Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door: The first Zelda game that most people played versus a great RPG that only added to the popularity of a bestselling franchise.
