First Petey Williams and now Sonjay Dutt

Ive mentioned this before, i think in the jimmy rave thread, but my major concern at the latest splurge of releases is that they are predominantly x-division guys. at a time when they should be rebuilding the division by pushing shelley as an exciting champion, they've dropped several guys who could have been decent opponents for him.

who do we even consider as x-division athletes anymore? shelley and sabin are arguably more popular as a team than singles wrestlers; tna a pretty much forcing lethal and creed as a team down our throats; homicide is another wrestler better known for his tag work. that leaves bashir, who know one really cares about, or eric young who, much as i love him, is about as xdivision as i am.

i wish sonjay well though. i cant see him getting a call from wwe. i dont get an real sense of charisma when i watch him, and we all know you cant get by in the E on good matches alone

So let me get this straight, TNA releases two young talents who had great potential to make it big, but they are keeping a 50 year old guy like Kevin Nash who can barely walk and show up to the arena much less actually wrestle a match? TNA makes no sense most of the time, and this is a classic example. Sonjay Dutt wasn't involved in many storylines as of late, but he wasn't terrible by any means. He had a fairly decent feud with Jay Lethal and actually ended up winning Socal Val off him. But apart from that, I didn't care much for the guy because he wasn't given any decent storyline which was quite sad.

Then there was one of my favourite young guys in TNA, Petey Williams. Why in the holy shit would TNA release this guy? He's got everything. He is good on the mic, he is freaking awesome in the ring and most of all, he has the look of a superstar. For a guy his size and for a guy who has as much muscle mass as Petey, it's amazing how athletic and flexible this guy really is. He's got the whole package and was certainly underutilized, but most of all, he came back to TNA a few weeks ago in one of TNA's better surprises. So why release him a few weeks later?

I think there is a posibility that this is all a work. Remember when Kaz got released? Yeah, take a guess who's under that Suicide mask and costume. I'm not entirely surprised that Sonjay got released because TNA weren't using him much at all, but Petey Williams is a shocker to me. Too shocking for my liking. I won't be surprised if they return in a few weeks time and help take out the Main Event Mafia. As for the Rock n Rave Infection: What took them so long to release these guys? I never liked them anyway, and that was the only wise move made by TNA here.

i think that sonjay was released for the same reason that petey was. there was an outside chance that, with talent like these, the show just might have gotten entertaining if these guys were not closely watched.

we all know, or can see from a cursory glance at tna's shows in the past, that such a thing is contrary to the entire model for the programing that tna has been working toward the last few years.

keeping guys who do what they are told, and go out each night and give it their all in the ring, no matter if they are used well or not could be a threat to the obvious tna mission statement: to dissapoint the fans as much as possible at every turn.

i think tna is doing a fine job of ruining the hard work the talent puts in, and i hope the jarrets are getting a check from vince for making him look so good.
