Embracing the obvious: Cena into 'Super' Cena

We all know the Super Cena joke. But let's face it, Cena isn't going anywhere. So how about the WWE take this a step further and hint / promote Cena as an actual super hero? The idea was inspired by this:

Superman, the "top face," is no-selling a big right hand from a monster heel. Credit to TVTropes btw.

I haven't figured out all the details of how this would work (obvious points: shirt would be Superman / Captain America oriented, would no-sell more often, be similar to The Hurricane from a few years back or even a hint of Mr. America), but it could spice up the John Cena character by making him more entertaining to the IWC without sacrificing how over he truly is with the kids (i.e. sales of merch would stay high). The best part is that Cena could be a tweener between his clean-cut face persona and this superhero character, as storylines permit.

Good idea? Bad idea? If so, how to refine it into a good idea? Or incredibly stupid idea?

Actually, this survivor series post main event drama between Rock and Cena would suggest that Cena will not embrace this super cena persona. Cena's character is likely to stay grounded. In that promo it appeared as if Cena doesn't think that he should share the limelight with Rock because fans want Rock more than Cena. He went off the ring and started clapping for Rock, and when Rock asked him to come to ring and post for the fans he was reluctant and unsure if the fans want him to pose on the turnbuckle. He came across as someone who just wants to give his best irrespective of whether fans want him or not, and he wants to stand by those fans who has stood by him

This is where Roddy Piper's promo on this last week Raw's opening segment makes more sense, and it would indicate how this Rock-Cena storyline is going to pan out. Roddy was basically asking Cena to express his frustration over the boos he is getting, but Cena was repeatedly saying that he care more about those who cheer for him.

I am fan of both Cena and Rock, and honestly, this story is getting very very exciting. I didn't predicted that it is going to take this turn, and now i am more engrossed into this story. Cena and Rock are fantastic actors which was quite evident in that promo. Cena sold the fact that fans want Rock more, Rock sold Cena's reluctance to pose on the turnbuckle (though Cena's performance didn't require that much selling)

It would be hilarious because of how much the internet would whine about it.

Just for that, I say go for it.

Any idea is better than what the WWE has right now. I’m thinking Super-Cena should be a cross between the Hurricane, Mr. America, and Super Eric. I’d even go as far as giving Cena his own Just-Us League of Super Friends. Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio can play the Batman and Robin role.
