EliteXC... Their Shadiness and Their Future

Getting Noticed By Management
Well, we saw their colossal stupidity in putting all of their eggs in one basket in Kimbo Slice... who was never a legitimate MMA fighter. Now, the fledgling promotion has a working agreement with Affliction as they try to stay afloat. And one has to wonder what will happen to the only other mainstream attraction they have in Gina Carano once she fights Christiane Cyborg... who is a pit bull.

One has to wonder how they recover from the Kimbo fiasco. Jared Shaw, the son of promoter Gary Shaw, was apparently going ballistic once he saw the end result of Kimbo getting his ass handed to him. Don't forget the James Thompson fight either where he kept yelling at the ref to stand the fight up when Thompson had total control of the matchup. Say what you want about Dana White, but at least he's an impartial party when his #1 star gets knocked the fuck out.

And as far as their shadiness goes, here's what Seth Petruzelli had to say regarding the fight.

SP: Not really, but I train with lots of undefeated pro boxers, a couple guys have a belt, and my style kinda throws them off a bit, I have kind of an awkward style. So, I knew I would do alright standing up with him. THE PROMOTERS KINDA HINTED TO ME, AND THEY GAVE ME THE MONEY TO STAND AND TRADE WITH HIM. THEY DIDN’T WANT ME TO TAKE HIM DOWN. LETS JUST PUT IT THAT WAY.

M: Ahhh.. ok.

SP: It was worth my while to try and stand up and punch with him.”

That's pretty much a bribe to try to fix the fight in Kimbo's favor... which you can go to jail for. Petruzelli is trying to backpedal on what he said, probably because he was forced to, but the damage has definitely been done.

Surprise, surprise. Trying to Bribe Petruzelli to favor the Kimbo hype-machine. I don't know how would this affect....sorry, I said it wrong. This should almost kill EliteXC.

Also, I dont think Affliction would want to keep the agreement, specially if the "bribe" thing goes mainstream.
i guess this is Good night, sweet Prince, for EliteXC.

UNLESS...

they make a HUGE investment and they try to sign Fedor for a fight.... sounds crazy, but it's CBS: they have the money to make it happen.

ELite XC is looking grim. There big star just got knocked out by a light wieght. And Gina Carano is going to get killed by Cyborg. XC could still be a ok orginazation , but i never liked them. I honestly think that they they arent fair in their fights (See Slice vs Thompson) If they see Tito Ortiz they could have a big Slice vs Ortiz fight. Thats about it.

I believe the Elite FIX-C is a terrible organization. Seth tried to take back those words about being paid to stand with Kimbo but he blatantly contradicted himself. Prior to his taking the statement back, he said his plan was to shoot on Kimbo to take him down after faking some kicks, basically his original plan WAS to take it to the ground...

And now he says he was not payed to keep it standing, he says he wanted to keep it standing all along...?

Wow. I love Seth for destroying the outrageous hype machine, but he's still trying to be a company man, which is smart for keeping his job, but the damage is done. It is blatantly apparent through his contradiction that Elite WAS doing some dirty business with him to give Kanbo Scratch a chance.

If this is the case, then Elite XC is in big trouble. If this is true, then Elite XC has just become the third biggest wrestling company in the country. MMA's advantage over wrestling has been that its real. What happens when its no longer real? Its wrestling more or less. Even if this isn't true, the credibility will always be in question. Slice is supposed to be the next big thing, but like they said, the kid that beat him is the Rocky Balboa of MMA. He'll get a bigger fight now and will be a name for awhile. With Slice being down, even if they get Ortiz and Slice, the questions of a fix will haunt them forever. No matter how good the action is, now it might as well be with JR on commentary.

Lol the next big thing? I can guarantee you very little people thought that any casual mma can see hes a just a green street figther. Even people that just watch ufc casually can tell hes nothing. When the commentator said "Biggest upset in mma history" no one should take him seriously cause thats nothing compared to other upsets. Now i find elitexc as shady as it comes was proven in the thompson fight when they stoped it cause of the cut. Don't you think if his cauliflower ear was that bad they would have bleeded it out prior to the fight? even the commentators thought it was a bad call.

On top of that Frank Shamrock said he would jump into fight! and so did Arlovski. But no they wanted a LHW ufc reject with no name value basically a squash match in wrestling terms. But nope did not go the way they wanted and im damn happy about that. If he would have lost to Arlovski or Frank they could have capitalized on that and build their company around frank or arlovski if their whole affliction/elitexc deal goes threw. The only reason kimbo brought in ratings is because of his youtube fights and the mystique that he never really has been tested(beating fighters beyond their prime do not count). Now that the mystique is gone elitexc will sink unless they merge with affliction. People always complain about dana but in the end of the day hes always straight up and honest. His boy his face of the UFC Liddel got knocked out by practically a nobody you don't see him screaming like maniac about it. O and of course they payed seth to stand they wanted to keep selling the whole knockout monster thing he has going for him. Lesson? never build you company around one fighter.

Anyone else feel bad for Brett Rogers? lol.

He wanted to show Kimbo the pain so badly and for awhile Brett seemed to be the one EliteXC was going to put Kimbo against on this past Saturday Oct 4th. Obviously however...Brett wasn't a can with 7/8 straight losses, and Shamrock was. No sir, Brett is a 7-0 legit fighter who schooled James Thompson in a single round whereas Kanbo took 3 rounds just to get a very controversial referree ruling to save him.

This is why I hate EliteXC. Their shadiness knows no bounds.

People give Dana White a lot of crap for whatever reason, mainly because of his overall general outspokeness. However, read what he had to say in today's Boston Herald, and it's hard to disagree with everything he says. EliteXC is an absolute joke that built a promotion around a guy who cannot fight, despite all the tutelage he gets from Bas Rutten and everyone else around him.

Dana fires off on all cylinders here, and it's a definite must read. He is bar none the best promoter as far as the world of MMA, boxing, and dare I say professional wrestling goes... and he has every right to be upset that the Shaws are setting the sport back.

“It disgusts me,” White said. “I’ve been busting my (expletive) for 10 years flying all over the planet to show everybody what a great sport this is and what amazing people are involved in it. Then CBS throws this guy who fights at people’s barbecues on the main event because they’re trying to compete with us, and he gets knocked out in (14) seconds by a guy who didn’t win ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ and couldn’t fight in the UFC. Then the guy turns around the next day and says, ‘The promoters actually paid me to not go to the ground with this guy. They paid me to stand up,’ which I’m pretty sure is illegal.”

“(Slice is) a joke,” White said. “It was bound to happen. These guys have lost $60 million trying to get this thing off the ground. They’re building their promotion around a guy who can’t fight. It’s kind of (expletive) stupid, isn’t it? You’re in the fight business and you’re building your business around a guy who can’t fight.”

“It put a nail in my coffin, too,” White said. “When dirty people go out and do stuff like that, it hurts. Promoters have a bad rap as it is because of the last 100 years of boxing. We actually started to turn that around and were doing the right things and then you have these guys coming out and doing (expletive) like that. It hurts us.”

I love Dana White, he usually tells it exactly like it is and he has absolutely every right to be pissed at EliteXC for crapping on the name of Mixed Martial Arts. This is the same problem Boxing has going on and Dana has said time and time again that he wants nothing with corruption resembling that.

Apparently Elite is under investigation now. I hope they burn in hell.

Exaclty dana is right, fucking Kimbo can throw punches we all know that. BUT HE IS NOTHING IN MMA. Fuck if you get him to the ground your allmost guarinteed a win. I wanted to see shamrock fuck him up tho. Anyone smell a bit of a work with sham to? He somehow just gets busted open training, If I remember right didn't he shove kimbo when he had his back to him at the weigh in? Maybe xc is trying to keep sham for another fight with kimbo, but seeing in how he lost in 14 seconds no one will believe he's a legit fighter with the likes of shamrock, who was in the fucking wwe for god sake.

Its kind of sad, I liked kimbo. Knew he couldn't fight and was an embaresment. But getting beat in 14 seconds blows ass, let alone to a ufc reject. But oh were not done here, he has fucking pink hair to. Thats just a slap in the face.

If it does come back as a fix, cbs, kimbo, and sp will never be anything again. Kimbo still has some of his shit left, very little but some. And sp is now the prevervial giant killer. But if it was a setup, there names will be mud for a long time to come in all of the mma fans minds.

The thing about EliteXC is, even with their shadiness and how fucking ridiculous they can be, they still put on very entertaining shows. I mean, seriously... how could you not have enjoyed their "Heat" show? Great fight after great fight up until the main event.

But yeah... a lot of the stuff they pull is completely uncalled for and unprofessional. However, personally.. I don't want to see them go out of business. I get my Gina fix every few months with them ( ;) ), and Nick Diaz is currently my favorite fighter in MMA and that's where he is currently employed and about to receive a title shot. There desperately needs to be an alternative to the UFC and even though they’re ridiculous like I said, EliteXC is the best we could ever ask for at the moment, especially now since they struck up a partnership with Affliction. .

Florida officials are investigating allegations of match-fixing in the Kimbo Slice-Seth Petruzelli fight this past weekend on Elite XC.

Petruzelli, a last-minute replacement to fight Slice in the MMA bout, hinted to an Orlando radio station that the promoters - L.A.-based ProElite - offered him money to "stand and trade (punches) with" Slice, rather than try to take him down with a wrestling move.

Petruzelli won the fight 14 seconds into the first round after sending Slice to the mat with a punch to the head that opened a gash over Slice's eye. Slice is is a former street fighter turned MMA fighter and is known more as a puncher, while Petruzelli, like many MMA-trained fighters, has a background in Olympic-style wrestling and kick-boxing.

Petruzelli was a last-minute replacement to fight Slice in the main event on Saturday's card after original opponent Ken Shamrock withdrew because of injury.

ESPN.com reported Thursday that the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation has begun a preliminary investigation into the allegations.

Petruzelli told the radio station in an interview on Monday: "The promoters kind of hinted to me, and they gave me the money to stand and trade with him. They didn't want me to take him down, let's just put it that way. It was worth my while to try to stand up and punch with him."

So it looks like something might really be going on for the FSAC to step in. I for one hope they find something so elitexc can go down. This kind of exposure for MMA is horrible it gives it a bad name. Even if nothing is found the fact that something like this was investigated wont do MMA any good. I truly feel bad for companies like the UFC who really try to build a legit company around REAL top level fighters.
