Mini biography

One of the great Hispanic wrestlers, Eddie Guerrero grew up part of the famous wrestling family: The Guerreros. His father Gory Guerrero became a star in the U.S., an icon in Texas and a legend in Mexico. Eddie's brothers, Hector, Amadno and Chavo, Sr. also became wrestlers. Both Hector and Amando gain success, but only in the Indie federations, and not much success as their father or other two brothers had gained in the majors. Eddie's nephew, Chavo Guerro, Jr., son of Chavo, Sr., also became a wrestler (Chavo, Jr. was only three years younger than his uncle). Eddie was also uncle of Enrique Llanes and cousin of Javier Llanes, who are popular wrestlers in Mexico.

Eddie had wrestling since the 1989. He really made his name in the now-defunct ECW (Extreme championship Wrestling) by winning the ECW Ecxtreme Championship Wrerstling) TV Title against Dean Simon (aka Dean Malenko). Eddie also made his name later that year in now-defunct WCW (World Championship Wrestling) to win the Cruiserweight Championship by defeating Chris Jericho. Also while in the company, he formed Latino World Order (A playoff to Hulk Hogan's (Hollywood Hogan at the time)stable, New World Order).

The stable included popular Latino wrestler Rey Mysterio, Jr. (Oscar Gutierrez), La Parka (Adolfo Tapia Ibarra), Psychosis (Dionicio Castellanos) and Juventud Guerrera (Eduardo Annibal Gonzalez Hernandez).

When Eddie came to the WWE, he was a heel, and immediately gained fame when he was part of the Radicalz, with Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko and long time friend of fifteen years, Chris Benoit. In recent years, he and and his nephew Chavo, Jr. began a tag team called Los Guerreros and won the WWE Tag Team titles on Smackdown! against Team Angle (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin). After this stint, Eddie Guerrero went on to win the WWE Championhip (His first and only time) at No Way Out in 2004 against Brock Lesnar. He lost the title to John "Bradshaw" Layfield four months later at the Great American Bash in a Texas Bull Rope Match.

Recently, wrestling fans and the people of the WWE mourn of the lost of Eddie when he was found by his nephew, Chavo Jr. (who back then known as Kerwin White) on a Sunday morning in November, 2005. The result of his death was most likely been caused by his problems in the past: Drugs and alcohol.

Personal quotes

To Chyna: "I know you want to shake your bom-bom with me, mamacita!"

"You want some Latino Heat?"

"If you're not cheating, you're not trying."

"Viva la Raza!"

"I lie, I cheat, and I steal."

(on his nephew Chavo Jr.) I'm so proud of him. And he's also really good. I see character traits of his father in him. The chest comes out when I watch him. He's more like my little brother than my nephew.

I was a fan of Eddie before he became really popular in 2003. I always prefered him as a heel in WCW. Not his WWE heel turn's I thought his character had developed beyond them. It's a shame his last feud was with that lumbering oaf Batista. It's also a shame he spent half the year trying to relive his classic Halloween Havoc match with Rey Mysterio.

This was one of the saddest wrestling deaths in recent memory, because everyone loved Eddie and no one could believe that he was gone. It's so sad that he left behind his wife and two kids to grow up without a father and a husband, and the wrestling world is still shocked from his passing. Eddie was just exciting and enjoyable in the ring and he always had a smile on his face and is remembered by all. It is just not the same without hearing "Viva La Raza!!!" anymore, and I wish he was back. The circumstances of his death was terrible, and to die at that age is very unfortunate. I hope Eddie is a lesson to all young wrestlers about the consequences of abusing your body, but Eddie shouldn't be remembered for that because he deserves every accolade he has gathered over his illustrious career. Long Live the Memory of the Great Eddie Guerrero!!

Now I know may get a lot of heat for posting this thread but I think it needs to be said. Does anyone else still miss Eddie G? He was such a fundemental part of SmackDown and I just dont think that SmackDown has recovered. I still miss the guy. He was such a great entertainer and still always take time out to remember him. Any comments?

I think everyone misses him. He was one of the greatest entertainers in the history of wrestling, and his matches were gold. He was a great man, and anyone that doesn't respect him and miss him isn't a true wrestling fan.

I don't think I could have put that any better.

Eddie Guerrero was the man on Smackdown... I guess his death gave opportunities to guys like Booker, Rey Mysterio, Finlay, Chavo that wouldn't have gotten one before. But that's no price to pay...

One of the greatest entertainers I've ever seen, he would have been as big as the Rocks, Austins and Jerichos of our era, he had it all. Mic skills, incredible mat skills, high-flying offense, charisma, respect, passion, he was as funny as hell ! The guy is one of the best ever in my opinion, and I haven't seen anybody to this day that thought that Eddie Guerrero was a bad entertainer/wrestler.

The guy deserved so much more, that he would have gotten with time, but sadly life is tragic. I wish the best for his family, hoping that Vickie can gain talent and respect on her own too with some hard work. I'd love to see another DVD about him come out soon, with more recent footage, or maybe a book written by somebody close to narrate some behind the scenes experiences with him.

I'm not a very emotional guy, but when Eddie died I cried like hell and was pretty bummed for at least a week. I really wish there were other ways we could thank him, his story showed me that hope in life still exists.

Amen, I cried too and I'm not ashamed to say it. I think it is safe to say that a little Latino Heat now lives on in all who loved him.

i believe everyone still misses eddie i still do and your right smackdown has not fully recovered still since his death and i doubt they ever will because this was a shock to the whole wrestling world together as a whole i will always miss eddie i mean there is a lot of stars that will be missed but i believe that eddie should go at the top of the list look what he accomplished and did for the business he is a true legend

When i seen this discussion i was in two worlds to click this as there is people out there who dont like the guy but i did click on this and its brought the whole he aint here back to me this is moving and i do still miss him i was thinking to myself when RAW had DX what does SD have going for it since his death they do have some up and coming stars but since his death SD has lost a big part of itself he was one of them wrestliers with everything all in one if u go to him eddie ur a heel he do that 10/10 if u go right your becoming a face its 10/10 make them laugh, he do more then that, he make you piss yourself with laughter and go at the end of it VIVA LA RAZA he is truly missed and always will be missed in wrestling, SD will always have this gap in it where eddie once stood he was going throught great times before his death ready for his next push for the world heavyweight championship its just sad that life is cruel and they took a great soul like EDDIE GUERRERO
WE ALL MISS YOU HOMES'

Eddie was one of the greatest competeters in sports entertainment, he had all the skills to become a champion. He had great ground skills, he was a high-flyer, he was great on the mic, he was funny as hell and he lied, he cheated and he stole our hearts. I was fortunate enough to meet Eddie before and he was a great guy outside of the ring, he loved his fans. And even tho we all miss him we know he's in heaven Lying, Cheating and Stealing. Latino Heat will always be alive in the hearts of Gurreros fan's.
--- Eddie Guerrero --- You'll always be a champion in our hearts. Thank you for so many years of Latino heat. We miss you Eddie. Viva La Raza!
RIP Amigo

Everybody will miss Eddie Guerrero. Everybody probably still does. He was a hell of a proformer and a good man. Everybody that doesnt like him could just go to hell.

I'm gonna go against the grain here... I never liked Eddie Guerrero. I respect him for what he did but I know for a fact he would not be a Hall of Famer if he hadn't passed away in the manner that he did. I'm not saying I'm glad he is gone because he is dead and that is unfortunate... but I do not necessarily miss him.

I really can't miss him, I just was never a big fan of his. However, if I did miss him, I'm sure I would harbor a slight amount of ill will towards him. Eddie essentially died because of an addiction he wasn't able to beat early enough, and steroid use helped as well. There really isn't too many people one can blame here.

The fact that wrestler after wrestler dies alone in hotel rooms at young ages time after time without real concern is what truly bothers me. "the business" is a hard one. People take lumps so they take pills. The have a lot of free time in the evenings so they drink a lot, after taking pills. Then as part of the business you need to have a "look." A look that is hard to obtain by simply lifting weights naturally. They drink, they mix medicines, they use steroids. For as often as a young wrestling death occurs, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more.

The business won't change. For as long and as much as I've loved it, I never wanted to be a wrestler, and I don't know why anyone would.

I don't mean this as a knock of Guerrero, I'm just more inclined to feel bad for a guy like Owen Hart who died young, but not because of prior issues.

I'm not going to knock your opinion, but I am going to have to disagree with you about the Hall of Fame. Granted he wouldn't be put in for at least 10 years if he hadn't died, but he was only the second Latin American WWE Champion in history, so I think he would've been put in the Hall of Fame no matter what. It's just unfortunate that it had to come about with his death.

Not only that is to consider. He got the Hall of Fame induction in 2006 because he had just recently passed away, that's true. But if he hadn't he would have gotten it once he retired for sure.

Remember, Eddie comes from a legendary wrestling family, I think many underestimate how big of a legend his father was in Mexico, and his brothers became popular too, but obviously not as much as him.

Eddie was a HUGE star in Mexico to start with.

A HUGE star in Japan, remember what he great matches he put on with Chris Benoit.

Eddie was HUGE in ECW, and would have gotten to main event status if he hadn't left.

Eddie was big in WCW, he had the charisma to lead the Latino World Order, and was a multiple-time Cruiserweight Champ.

Eddie was HUGE in WWE. Latino Heat was obviously the first of the Radicalz to really become big (Chris Benoit had a well deserved bigger push though), but Eddie gained a hell of a lot of popularity.

Then he had some demons to vainquish, but he soon came back bigger than ever, becoming a multi-time Tag Team Champ, and WWE Champion. Remember Wrestlemania XX and his famous loosening of his shoelaces, classic moment.

After his incredible feud as a heel against Rey Mysterio, Eddie was in line for another World Title reign. He would have had Rey Mysterio's place, had he not tragically died.

-> Eddie Guerrero is a legend ! Just think how over he really was as a face and as a heel, and you'll see that the Hall of Fame would have come in the future, and he would have accomplished even more by then !

Im surprised the WWE haven't had a SmackDown! tribute show to Eddie. When SmackDown! aired one year one after his passing I was expecting something in relation to him. None. I was just thinking "WTF"...But I really do hope they do something to remember him. Like a PPV just to honour his legacy. I think wrestlers like Kurt Angle, Sting, Chris Jericho, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, JBL, Hector Guerrero and numerous mexican wrestlers would fill up the PPV. It would go on for 5 hours! Someone should tell the WWE this, it would make a lot of more people respect the business as a whole. They just need a constant reminder of him...somewhere...R.I.P

I doubt WWE would do anything like that. Although I'm surprised there has'nt been a Eddie benefit show. They have one ever year (so I believe) for Brian Pillman, to get money for his widow.

I was dissapointed that WWE canceled the Benoit/Malenko tribute match at ONS. They could have at least added that match to December To Dismember. The card was hardly jam packed with must see match's.

roflmao I hate to make a joke in an obituary thread but I loved this line under the trivia section for Eddie posted by Jake...
