Ok well I've been noticing this for a while now but the ECW brand has been getting better ever since after Matt Hardy became champion on ECW. Not because he became champion but it just started happining around that time. Now ECW has become so much better that it is the best show in wrestling. I mean their are really good fueds and wrestlers on this show now. Christian/regal, Shemas/Shelton, and Burchill/hurricane are some examples. Then you have wrestlers like Yoshi Tatsu, Goldust, Ezekiel Jackson, Vladimir Kozlov, Tommy Dreamerer, and Zack Ryder to mix it up a little bit.
Give me your thoughts on ECW compared to other wrestling shows.

I think you're quite correct here. ECW is lucky as it tends to be left on its own away from the Raw and Smackdown wars, which is what makes it better. ECW is actually kind of a highly glorified indy show at the moment and you can tell that it's paying off. You don't have incredibly complex storylines and there's only about 10 people around, but the show works just fine. The feuds are built up, new stars are being established, the veterans are doing their jobs in making the young guys look good, and the whole thing just flows very well. There's no wasted time for stuff like Word Up or Horny vs Chavo 90. You get a balanced wrestling show that works just fine. Jericho popping in Tuesday was great as the best of ECW got to show what he could do on the big scene. ECW is great right now, but the big thing I'm worried about is when Vince realizes it and insists it needs his special touch.

You are correct dman, ECW is great i believe, I always enjoy watching it, it gives relief from the chaos on RAW and lets me see some of my favourite superstars e.g. Christian and Goldust. It also showcases some great matches like the Christian vs Jericho which I thought was absolutely fantastic, it showed that Christian can play with big boys, the only thing im worried about is when Christian leaves what is it gonna do for the show. I guess only time will tell.

I have been saying this for a very, very long time. ECW is the best wrestling show on air today. It has my favorite atars (Christian, The Hurricane, Goldust), proper storylines, development, and above all great matches. It is the one show that consistently entertains me week in and week out. The fact that it's only an hour long is both good and bad as it makes me want more, but unfortunately leaves some stars (The Hurricane, Abraham Washington) off TV some weeks.

Overall, ECW is absolutely stellar.

I think Vince is missing out on a great opprotunity by keeping ECW only an hour.with all the talent they've released they could easily make ECW a 2 hour show.plus you make new tag teams to challenge JeriShow and develop some new divas.plus having more talent you could reintroduce the TV title.i hope sometime in the future they decide to expand ECW a little.

Let's not go overboard here. ECW is a good hour, but the best? No. Impact is a better show, and Smackdown usually is. Quite honestly Superstars is often better as well. ECW is a good show, but they just try to fit way too many things into one hour and end up spreading everything thin. The matches are usually pretty good, but they never have enough time.

ECW is a good show, but the best hour in wrestling? Hardly.

Everytime I watch ECW, I don't feel like I'am watching a WWE program. It has a fresh feel to it. There are lots of young wrestlers on the rise, and I'm liking Christian's reign as ECW champion.
ECW will continue to look, and feel different because we are constantly seeing new wrestlers emerge every other month or so. I don't know if I'd call it the the best hour in wrestling, but it's damn sure close.

I dunno that I'd call it the best, but I do think it's a pretty damn good hour. In many ways, it's a breath of fresh air when you compare it to some of what's going on with Raw. My only huge complaint about Raw in the past several months is the main event scene. It's dominated by Triple H, John Cena and Randy Orton. I'm so looking forward to the Iron Man match between Cena and Orton because I think it'll be a great match and, maybe most importantly, it could mean a brand new fresh face in Raw's main event. Anyhow, I'm off point.

To me, ECW comes across as a show that's not about generating ratings. There are good matches, talented wrestlers, simple angles and storylines that work and it all meshes in nicely.

I came in here expecting someone to agree with me, and X rolled right along. ECW has been entertaining as all hell, and I make sure to tune in week after week. That does not make it the best. I'd take the 1st or 2nd hour of Impact over anything McMahon touches.

Christian as a long-term champ is a lot better than the hot potato they've been playing on the other brands, and the title really is the focus of the entire show. Ryder, Regal, and Yoshi have all been driven to be #1 Contender, and then you have Hurricane v. Burchill and Shelton v. Sheamus in the "mid-card". I've even liked what I've seen from Kozlov, Zeke, Dreamer, and Goldust lately.

The beauty of it: That's everyone. The only 3 people that appear on ECW every week, but get no wrestling time are Tiffany (the GM), Katie Lea (Paul's valet), and Abraham (talk show host). It's near perfect.

You know what would help out with that time constraint? Cutting out the RAW and SmackDown recaps that are completely irrelevant to ECW. I swear after fast-forwarding through all of the recaps, I'm left with maybe 30 minutes of actual content.

I rate Raw, Smackdown, ECW and TNA from #1 to #4 each week and I have been since TNA started airing in Australia in April 2008. ECW has constantly been #1/#2. Almost all of 2008 I enjoyed the ECW product more then Smackdown, Raw and TNA. So far in 2008 its mostly been at #2 due to Smackdown between April - September and TNA smashing through everything recently. What keeps ECW at #2? Read on to find out

For my current ratings
#1 TNA
#2 ECW
#3 Smackdown
#4 Raw

Out of my ratings, TNA is stepping it up right now and I'm enjoying the product more then anything the wwe is giving
ECW is #2 as it has been the same mixture for the past two years which is a good thing. We get a hour of wrestling and thats exactly what I enjoy about it. I now care for the likes of Golddust and Kozlov due to them being on ECW
Smackdown has moved to #3 due to.. well its became allot less entertaining since, i daresay... Jeff left. I feel as though Smackdown has lost it quite a bit lately
Raw is last like usual although I can see it surpassing Smackdown soon as I am enjoying it allot more then Smackdown.

ECW is always high on my ratings for shows. I'll always watch ECW rarely skipping through it unlike I skip through TNA/Raw/Smackdown. In conclusion, ECW has put on a brilliant product for the past two years. Its now longer the land of extreme, it isn't trying to become the top show. Its just there to elevate younger stars and give older stars a chance to shine each week. Its Heat/Velocity but it is actually interesting.

ECW is a good hour i watch it every week i do believe they could have more wrestling, if they would stop with the damn Raw rebound crap. Raw really dont have nothing to do with ECW.

Also i like how Christain is a long term cahmpion and they build up some good fueds like Hurricane/ paul Regal/ Christain, and also it is help building up young stars, to shine it is what Heat use to be.

I would have to rate TNA last because I don't even watch it. I will turn it on every once in a while, but it mostly does nothing for me. I just don't like the main event mafia, the 6 sided ring, the x division of nobodys, the ultimate x, and the ok main events. The only reason why I watched TNA every once in a while is because of AJ Styles, Christian, booker T, and Angle. Now that Booker t is all but gone and christian is gone, and aj styles was in a ******ed storyline with Sting. All I have is Angle and he isn't as entertaining as he used to be.
I am going to rate all the shows from best to worst.

ECW
Smackdown
Ring of Honor
Raw

Impact
i put impact way underneath the others

on ECW, they do the things that they shoulddo throughout the entire WWE. I have listed the reasons below.

1. ECW is the show for pushes. Even though they should still have people like Evan Bourne and Matt Hardy,it is exciting to see new pushes.
2. I would say the roster is the best in WWE because EVERYBODY is entertaining

I love ECW. In order to organize my thoughts on the produce, I'll be writing in point form. Try to keep up.

-ECW's long term champion Christian continues to establsih top notch credibility and shows why the ECW Championship is the best midcard championship in the WWE. Punk, Morrison, Lashley, and Matt Hardy gained a lot from the belt before moving to higher positions on other brands (forget where Hardy is now, you know he was red hot coming off of his ECW reign), and Christian will no doubt follow suit after the way he's been booked. This was a much better way to reintroduce him to WWE than just throwing him into the thick of things on a bigger, more cluttered brand.

-The title scene, and the feuds, are well defined and are elevating everyone involved. The four person ECW title scene is producing a lot of interesting matches and the Regal-Tiffany saga is adding a story element to the proceedings that Raw's been sorely lacking these days is the icing on the cake. Regal is more over than he's been in years and Ryder, Yoshi, Kozlov, and Zeke have looked good by association. Shelton-Sheamus has done something good as Sheamus has been called up to the big leagues and Shelton looks better than he probably ever has. Couple that with vets like Dreamer, Goldust, and Hurricane getting a chance to help young guys in a way they couldn't on other shows and you have a recipe for success.

-Clocking in at just an hour, ECW makes pretty good use of most of it's time and never really gets the chance to lag like Raw does a lot these days. ECW has just enough going on to make the hour fly by. As far as "efficiency" goes, it's easily the best show in the WWE.

-They have a pretty neat main event on a weekly basis. Given that their PPV time is normally cut short and they have to blow off a lot of things on free television, we benefit. ECW is home to not only some of the most efficient story telling in the WWE at the moment, but also some of the most consistently good wrestling.

-It's very good but flys just under the radar so Vince won't feel the need to stick his nose in and retool it for rating's purposes or some shit like that. Me likely.

I can dig it.

ECW is awesome,I tune in every week and I never get dissappointed.I actually watch FCW(WWE's training farm) and every week I tune in to see if any of my favs from FCW debut on ECW,usually they don't but I still enjoy the show

matt striker is a great annoucer, his knowledge of wrestling is amazing and I love how he goes into detail on every move that is applyed in the ring,he also has BG info on every wrestler so it's like we know them,10000000 times better then micheal coles lame "vintage" catchphrase annoucing

christian IMO is the best ECW champion yet and i hope he continues to dominate

What's funny, and sad at the same time, is that ECW is probably just as exciting to watch as the other two "main" shows. However, they are left out of everything. For example, Bragging Rights, a seven-on-seven tag team match pitting Raw vs Smackdown? And what's more, ECW didn't have a single match on the card. If anything at all, I propose that ECW returns to the traditional format which may not be in line with the whole PG rating, but who cares? It was exciting as hell and was excactly what ECW should be.

ECW is unquestionably the highlight of my wrestling week, and the reason for that is quite simple. It is exactly how we wish all wrestling would be, but isn't. Every single character is developed, I don't think there's anyone I've never heard speak on the mic on the brand, and I don't think there's anyone that doesn't have a rounded character. It also has a strong champion who regularly defends his championship, and I'm honestly not lying when I say that Tiffany's character is the best face GM/authority figure there has ever been, even if she doesn't play it as well as she might do.

I don't know why they don't book the other programmes in a similar way, to be honest, because if ECW can draw a third of the Raw audience with Zach Ryder in the main event, it certainly shows what the potential of doing te same sort of thing with John Cena in the main event would be. Maybe this is just the IWC wanking about something that is actually shit, but personally, I think it is quite universally liked.

hi can any one start a petition for vince to take note of ecw's progress
no title match for ecw in a ppv?
(hi i'm new to this forum this is my first reply by the way i've been reading knowledgable posts of all members for the past 3yrs)

Dude ECW is great, it's fun to watch and it's enjoyable but it has some flaws. Not a big problem but a couple of staines here and there but that can be sorted out. Like getting the belt off of Christian and giving it to .. Tatsu? anyway I've been telling people what you posted since 2008. And people back then gave the show the '' screw this Vince Mcmahon abomination, we want the ExTrEmE E-C-Dub '' vibe. Most of them turned around and I'm glad they did, because it really is an enjoyable show.
