EC3 To Take Angle's Role?

The Roadie

Heavy metal Radio DJ From NZ
I've been watching EC3 & love his work on the mic.
As he is currently reported as injured & with Angle having stepped down from the Director of Wrestling operations role I was thinking what a great story angle it would make if "AUnt D" appointed EC3 to the role of Director of Wrestling Ops. Imagine some of the matches he could potentially book?
And having a heel in the role & someone as good as him on the mic would make great TV.
your thoughts?

I see your point but no, please no. It would just seem like another power control concept that TNA loves to do. We have the BDC which is probably too help the Lockdown TV PPV. I just don't want ECIII being in charge as it might lead to the worse thing possible.... Bringing back Dixie Carter. Yup, just no. That's my fear of ECIII being in charge of TNA. I'm just glad he's on TV regularly and when he heals up completely have him head towards the main event which he deserves.

I hear what you're saying, but I think there's been enough heel authority figures in wrestling. The storylines have been done to death, and in order for it to seemingly work for EC3, he would need a stable. And last I checked him and Dixie ran off all the mercenaries they briefly had before she got out through a table. Tyrus won't be enough, and I doubt the BDC would care to back him up. Just let him continue to manage Tyrus until he's cleared to return.

While I agree it might be a worthwhile story for ECIII himself, it's just not a good idea for two reasons:

1. It means Dixie Carter has to return to television. We just went through that story last year, and we're past it now. She went through a table and she lost her power. So did MVP. Angle stepped down and there's simply no need for another on-air authority figure.

2. He's doing quite well in all the ancillary feuds he's involved in, and Tyrus is doing a fine job as the wall keeping him safe until his arm heals up.

I don't see a need for any GM role. I wish fans and companies will realize that the GM role was only good when Bischoff did it. Everyone else after was pretty mediocre. Maybe throw in Mick Foley in for good measure.

It's absolutely pointless. All they do is come out and waste five minutes booking a match when it's unnecessary. The freaking color commentator can do that. "Folks as a result of what just transpired we just got information that this and this will happen later that night". That's it.

There are other ways to keep EC3 on the air without having him be a General Manager and have him go through the same old tired storyline of him dropping his GM gimmick for his wrestler gimmick when he heals up.

Hell to the no, and back to the hell and back to the no.

No he shouldn't, for several reasons. The BDC, and storms revolution make up a significant number of the strong characters and EC3 doesn't fit into either group. I don't think a public face GM is needed at all. The way dixie gave him easy opponents (the 5 stone pale blokes) repeatedly was tedious, if he did the same for whoever sided with him it would degrade their skills. As it stands his ongoing feud with the bootcamp winners is good for his character getting dragged into multiple feuds and using power to manipulate them would take the focus and intensity out of any story he was involved in. A heel GM is predictably going to come to a end quickly, a face in the role trying to make things fair and clean up is a better story and forces the heels to use a bit of imagination. A major problem with a public GM is it clashes with being active wrestler. So you end up with the angle scenario of stepping down after getting physical or having a has been who is clearly doing it because they cant cut it in the ring. Hogan is the perfect example of this, lots of huffing and puffing but all concerned know he is never going to be more than a bit of showboating and shouting which to many, including me, comes across as desperate and always looks like the other person letting him win or losing and looking like a sad has been. Such iconic characters should be left as strong icons which people can respect as icons regardless of their opinions of them as characters, what i mean by that is I find his character tedious but can respect what he brings to the industry.

That's kind of one interesting thing that they have never explained. If TNA is a family company, who would cross the boss's nephew? Yet EC3 really hasn't done much in terms of flexing his power. But then again they haven't explained how an "investor" like MVP can just lose his power either.

To the point, no they shouldn't have him replace Angle. He is better involved as a wrestle. Personally, I think they need to kind of go the old WCW route and have an executive committee who makes up the matches and then the announcers just say what they are. I do think they need a representative who appears when needed but that shouldn't be anyone there now. I hear they reached out to Edge. While I doubt he would ever work for them, you need someone like that.
