E! Network Developing Divas Reality Series

Welcome to My (And Not Sly's) House
The cable network is rolling out an intriguing slate of new projects, including a reality series following the lives of seven WWE rising starlets (think Stacy Keibler pre-George Clooney), the anticipated new series following music sensation The Wanted, a fan-driven talk show with überfan Ross Mathews, an innovative new interview show produced by Ashley Tisdale, a new "investigative" series from The Soup hosted by Joel McHale, a stereotype-busting show from producer Jack Osbourne and a look at Nick Cannon making over his grandma's house because...why not?

So apparently the Divas reality show being mentioned for the WWE Network is going to an actual network instead. I won't be watching it but it'll likely bring in a bunch of 13 year old boys.

Thoughts on this?

Well we know the show wont feature any ''Wrestling'', just girls doing their make-up, shopping, and signing photographs.

This show will show the world what it's like to be a Women who occasionally wrestles, not Wrestlers who are women.

Trust me, if they are developing a reality series based on the Divas, it's not because they want to capture the in ring aspect of women in pro wrestling. Attractive women, especially reality tv shows centered around attractive women, are usually ratings draws.

WWE know this, and knows that by allowing the Divas to participate in a reality tv show, they not only garner a larger audience and could possibly help make house hold names out of the divas, but they are also hoping that giving the Diva's a show will help bridge the gap and bring in a larger female audience that may be inclined to watching the 'Real Housewives' style of programming, but have never given WWE a chance.

This show is not meant to provide substance, it is meant to provide ratings and marketing opportunities.

really I'm only interested in Nattie and see if she complains about the horrible storylines WWE has given her except for the Divas of Doom.

I didn't realize a storyline that was very brief and never amounted to anything was a good storyline

Anyways, stuff like this interests me more out of curiosity only. Being that it's based around wrestling I usually give their outside endeavors at least a one or two show DVRing just to see whats going on there. I imagine something like this is going to receive that treatment. Let's hope it's only a 30 minute show as I can't see what they'd fill an entire hour up with.

Even though John Laurinaitis is gone, his legacy of stocking the Divas division with talentless models lingers on. Meanwhile, Vince is trying yet again to expand WWE beyond being "a wrestling company".

As for Nattie, she and Beth have said that the Divas Of Doom had potential and would have worked if WWE had portrayed them as anti-heroes instead of villains. But no, WWE was more interested in capitalizing on Kelly Kelly's Maxim spread.

There are some possibilities here, someone like Paige would be a good fit for this - there is already a doc out there about her and her family. Ric Flair's daughter is also a good fit as she has a "lineage" although Reid's death might nix that - I think the phrase "rising" means they'll be focusing on the newer Divas. Of course WWE is going to be a little bit wary of using the Bellas for example as it would be difficult to "follow them" without Cena and Bryan becoming part of it... Diva's doing WWE stars is common knowledge but not something Vinny wants on E regularly. But the idea of the new Diva's becoming celebs for the first time has some interest... unless it just ends up WWE's NXT Top Model of course.

The WWE ****es itself out to anything. What they're doing is pretty much killing the Divas division being considered anything other than hot tail taking somewhat difficult bumps in the ring. Being lumped in with E! is something I would never let happen if I were to have any say so in the WWE. When you think of that network, you think of Kim Kardashian, celebrity gossip, Guiliana Rancic (who looks like an alien in the face I might add), and Joan Rivers.

That's a stigma that I wouldn't want anywhere near my company. Unfortunately, E! seemed to be the only network that would carry it.

I just see this as being a death knell to women's wrestling as we know it.

From what I've seen in the promos, this show will be absolutely dreadful. As it as right now, fans have little to interest in the Divas division, and this reality show isn't going to help anything. And to make things worse this show is airing on the E! network, a network known for making the Kardashain women popular, and perpetuating celebrity gossip and rumors with their tabloid bullshit style of programming. This show won't help the Divas gain any credibility, or bring anymore interest to the Division itself. If anything, this show will just drive the nail deeper into the coffin.

Well...

I don't think I'll be watching this show at all because well it just doesn't interest me at all. I can appreciate though the effort the WWE is providing the Divas here with an opportunity to get some exposure. Let's see, current WWE divas amount of time on current WWE programming? About 7 minutes out of 3 hours. We get about half of that time dictated towards A.J. with Dolph and Big E. and then we have some useless backstage drama that usually is beyond useless but oh well. Hopefully this brings some light towards the divas for their future.

I never thought I'd see a show about the WWE on E!, but this actually seems to be a decent match. I won't watch the show, but it's a nice way to drum up interest in your divas from the primary E! demographic, females. Whether or not any of those people start watching Raw on a weekly basis remains to be seen, but I don't think the WWE is making a mistake by trying. If anything, seeing the WWE branch out into something this far from the current product makes me optimistic that they're trying to make things more interesting for their fans.

I don't know how well this is going to go over. Being a regular viewer of E! Network shows I... stop.... stop laughing... I know that what makes these shows successful is a lot of inappropriate drama. Cursing, sexual tension, things that WWE has done a great job of distancing itself from in the recent years, thats what makes shows like Keeping Up With the Kardashians worth watching. If they're really going to go through with it hopefully the show wont be subject to WWE's censorship. Somehow I feel like that wont be the case.
