Didn't see a thread on this, so I thought I'd start one.

Dragon Age is one of the better modern RPG series. It has a large world, great cast, and a seeimingly infinite number of choices that can be made. Every choice you make could change how an ally feels about you or affect the ongoing events in certain ways. Music and graphics aren't bad either.

1. Do you like this series? Why or why not?

2. Do you like the first or second game better, why?

3. Are you looking forward to a 3rd game in the series? Why or why not?

4. Did you enter a relationship with any of the other playable characters?

I really enjoy this series. It's a breath of fresh air among a large number of mediocre games. A lot of people have criticized the second for not being as good as the first, and I do agree that the first is the better of the two, they did a better job on gameplay and character development. I like the second one too though. It's good. Just not AS good as Origins. Better than some people seem to think though. I think the 3rd could be great and I'm really looking forward to it due to the enormous potential it will have. I'm currently playing through Origins again and ended up picking Leliana for a relationship. I like the way they went about doing the system with ally approval ratings, never before have I seen a game pull it off so well where you can make them like you enough to get intimate with you or hate you enough to turn heel on the rest of the party without it being scripted in the official story.

So let's hear from the rest of you now? Discuss!

1. Do you like this series? Why or why not?

I loved the series. I found it better on the computer because you can easily use all of you moves instead of six on the 360. Tons of different ways to make a character, tons of decisions to make, a great battle system, and fantastic depth to the game. Everything about it I found to be awesome.

2. Do you like the first or second game better, why?

Haven't played the second and don't plan to. From what I hear, it isn't near the first games level and it strayed far away from the first game like they wanted to cater to a new audience. I enjoyed everything about the first game, but there were some things that could have been improved. Apparently instead of improving those things, they made a much different game.

4. Did you enter a relationship with any of the other playable characters?

I had my way with Morrigan long before the ending where she approaches you asking for it. That's all I did though.

1. Do you like this series? Why or why not?

I'm playing it now. Haven't finished it, but I'm very deep into it. So far, I've enjoyed it a lot. The story has been good and I enjoy most of the characters. The battle system is a bit slow and many of the environments are pretty bland (though I'm playing the console version), but all in all, a good game. I'll likely post a review of the game once I've completed it.

2. Do you like the first or second game better, why?

I haven't played the second game, obviously, but I plan on it. I've heard that the gameplay is improved, but that the story is pretty lackluster compared to Origins. Guess I'll see for myself when I get to it. I will say that I prefer the art style in the second game, based on what I've seen of it.

3. Are you looking forward to a 3rd game in the series? Why or why not?

Well, a third game has been confirmed to be in development. If Bioware can not only match, but improve the standard set by the other two then I look forward to it.

4. Did you enter a relationship with any of the other playable characters?

I was in a relationship with Morrigan but I called it off because I'm a player. However, I'm now sharing a very deep romance with Leliana. She's currently pregant with 19 babies and even a war dog. I might have broken the game because I'm pretty sure that isn't supposed to happen.

1.As a whole series? I don't know but I absolutley loved the 1st game , one of the best video games of all time.

Awakening & 2 I had trouble getting into and did not beat and ended up trading in for store credit towards other games though. I think greatly in part because the stories seemingly had nothing to do with the 1st game and the fact that the text is so tiny I couldn't read it for shit discouraging me

2.1st EASILY

3.Since Awakening & 2 were dissapointments , I don't know.... it'll depend on if I end up re-buying and trying harder to play through the unreadable text all over my screen (Or if I just get a better TV somehow)

4.Yeah I did , I played the whole 1st game like 10x through and did every relationship you could imagine , I even made a gay dwarf paladin who fell in love with the antivan elf guy

By the way , OP or anyone else who beat DA2 could you tell me if you cross paths with Morrigan again? Do you get to see her kid? Anything interesting relating to those 2 happen? (Try to answer without explicit detail so as to not spoil it) but if you tell me yes I may go re-buy #2 sooner than I thought :p

Aw yeeeah Dragon Age, aw here I fee' like goin' all Black Snow on dis right here, aww mayn

1. Do you like this series? Why or why not?
Absolutely love it, characterisation is very strong and tends to drive the plot in a more interesting way. Sure it uses a lot of fantasy cliches ... but it does so with such style! The characterisation and plot gives it the edge, the gameplay is actually quite average.

2. Do you like the first or second game better, why?
Hmm ... DAII has the edge graphically and in combat gameplay, but story and structure wise, definitely the first one, because it was the original and it's where the heart of the story is at, for me. If they rereleased the first in like 15 years with improved combat, I'd buy it.

3. Are you looking forward to a 3rd game in the series? Why or why not?
Yes, at this stage just I need to find out what's up with Leliana! And I feel all is not done with Anders, Morrigan or many other important characters yet! I can't let a third game come out and not buy it. Gotta have some sort of conclusion.

4. Did you enter a relationship with any of the other playable characters?
Again, I have to come back to the characterisation. I tried every relationship in Origins, because I had to know more about the characters. The best part is, they're all so different. Comparing Zevran to Alistair, or Morrigan to Leliana ... can't be done. Four extremely different people, with four different approaches to romance. As for DAII, I've only tried Isabela (dirty but hot) and Merrill (not as hot, but cuter).

Morrigan doesn't show up in DAII Gaga, but chances are she might in DAIII.

1. Do you like this series? Why or why not?

I've only played Dragon Age:Origins and Dragon Age II. Loved Origins, hated the second one. I loved Origins because it had a great story and I like most RPGs, hated II because the story wasn't far from garbage with a very underwhelming ending to boot. Dragon Age II was rushed.

2. Do you like the first or second game better, why?

First by far. Why? See above.

3. Are you looking forward to a 3rd game in the series? Why or why not?

Hmmmm. I don't know if I'll be purchasing the third or not, I haven't really thought about it.

4. Did you enter a relationship with any of the other playable characters?

Morrigan in the first, Isabella in the second. I loved Morrigan to bits, probably my most favorite character both games (apart from mine, obviously). Isabella was my favorite female companion in the second, her character had a lot of personality.

I recently re-purchased Dragon Age 2 for a few reasons

I got REALLY bored and realized it has to be better than the majority of any other games out there anyway

I also read about the Black Emporium DLC that is free with new copies (That either didn't exist at release or I overlooked) and they let you change your appearance any time and as much as you like (Which was a big problem for me constantly restarting the game to try to get the just right look I wanted)

Haven't gotten much done in it yet , but I'm feeling alot better about it this time around

I've only played the first one, and found it to be pretty mediocre really, the story is the only thing that made it so that i got as far into it as i did. Mostly all the environments feel the same from level to level. Battles are again, really repetative after about 20 minutes. I got bored with it and have never beaten it.. because the damn thing glitched and wouldn't advance past the prison. It didn't really bring anything all that innovative, so it really needed to be made better than it was.

If you get all fancy about your battle strategies its more interesting

Going with stacking cunning on a rogue and make the mage spam stuff like glyph of para and while using haste and stuff , pretty cool

Then theres those spell combos you can do as a mage and have like a giant fire storm or lightning storm or a giant black cloud that kills everything in it etc

Admitedly warrior gameplays lame but thats how it is in alot of RPGs , but mage/rogue gameplay and strategy can get fun in dragon age

Can't believe no one has even brought up Mass Effect here. :p

Dragon Age: Origins is the second best game I've ever played, Mass Effect 2 being the best.

Dragon Age and Mass Effect are both character driven epic stories made for adults. They're mature, cerebral and better than either a book or a movie could ever be at telling the story they have to tell.

I much preferred Dragon Age: Origins to Dragon Age 2... however, I AM looking forward to Dragon Age 3 very much. DA2 was a great game, it was just incredibly disappointing compared to Origins.

Origins was it's own little entity self contained with incredible characters, and an amazing way of telling a story. Morigan might just be the best video game character ever. If it's not her then it's Mordin Solus from Mass Effect 2.

If there's someone here that doesn't know this already, let me just say Mass Effect 2 is for all intents and purposes simply a Sci-Fi version of Dragon Age. Same quality, same BioWare engine, but different battle engine (tactical shooter) and obviously a completely different story.

BioWare, with Dragon Age & Mass Effect are basically making their own versions of Lord of the Rings & Star Wars, playable with outcomes that can vary drastically depending on the choices you make early on in the game. Your choices from game 1 carry on into the sequel, and by the end of the series, you could just about be playing a completely different game.

Dragon Age: Origins was so massively varied that it was just too much for the writers to handle, so they started over again and Dragon Age 2 is really more comparable to Mass Effect 1. The next game directly continues the story started in DA2, whereas DA2 was a completely different story started in the same area as DAO and at nearly the same time.

My characters f**ked everyone that would spread their legs. My dwarf noble was the best romance of all. I called it "Morigan and the Midget: Hardcore."

That said though, Mass Effect 2 is so vastly superior to Dragon Age: Origins it's boggling. Go to youtube and do a search for "Shepard is still a jerk" it's a 10 minute video of some of the funniest s**t I've ever seen in a video game. I was crying at some of the things he said. "I've had enough of your disingenuous assertions." You must relinquish your weapons before we can proceed. "I'll relinquish 1 bullet, where do you want it?" What are you going to do? Shoot us? "If I have to." Cocks weapon. "Do I have to?" "What, you don't think I'M hungry? I went all the way up to the presidium for this. Why should I give to some random Krogan?" I'll pay you a lot for it. "Oh, alright."
