doin the job

we have all spoke about it guys that that just because they were at one time the biggest name in wrestling they dont have to do job for younger guys

case in point hogan vs shawn at summerslam who does believe that an old man who can hardly walk can beat a guy who ok not at his best any more but can still go with the best of them. hogan ego wont let him lose to anyone just because he worried that one day people will forget him

i have every bit of repsect for hulk and what he has done a lot but it time he forgot all that and sit back and just enjoy what he has done and never mind he stupid ego

is there anyone else who has been like this

I think the mentality is that once they've made their money and they're no longer in the business then they don't care what happens to it. Like when I left Wilkinsons 8 years ago.

Wrestling is a selfish business, why put over somebody you don't really know when you can preserve your aura?

Is this what the thread is about?

Why is this an issue at present?

Saying that, the finger of doom always rings a bell!

well it not really a issue it just a thought

to be hounest i forgot about finger of doom that a good point

yeah you make good point that what it could be

yeah that what it kind of about

my thought is hogan was one of the top guys and fans will always love him i used to like him but i now think he a bit phony and showy and wwe changed i just think who really believes that a man who almost 60 who has probs with legs back etc.... and hardly walk half the time could beat a guy who still fit and can go with younger guys

This kind of BS started when companies started pandering to their stars, allowing them to think they're bigger than the business and giving them creative control. Who in their right mind would allow an employee (let alone a temp) decide what they're willing to do? Hogan (just like Bret and Montreal) should have been told to do what he's told or get out. He'd soon start towing the line without the spotlight on him.

Even worse was Hogan v Orton, what better way for Orton to solidify his then Legend Killer status by beating Hulk Hogan???

I would love to see that re-match, lets see hogan hulk up after being punted in the head.

Hogan should of done the job, or at least given Orton a re-match and then lost to him. Then each guy would of had a victory.

Meh. I for one believe that every top wrestler owes it to their company to help put over the rising stars, especially considering that when that wrestler leaves he'll more than likely leave a huge gap.

Take, for instance, John Cena. He does a good job at making everyone who faces him look great, and I'm sure he will have no problem with putting other wrestlers over when the time comes. But what if he doesn't? If he were to leave a year from now, without putting anyone else over, the WWE will have a huge void to fill.

Or Triple H. The notorious poster boy for refusing to put others over. I myself can see both sides of the argument, both for and against him. But what if he were to leave in the next few years and not put anyone over? It'd leave a humongous void. And it's his duty to make sure that void is filled by the time he leaves.

As far as wrestlers who are opposed to "doin the job?" It all goes to their ego. They've become so big, they don't want anything to hamper that. Even if they're leaving and will never wrestle another day of their lives. They don't want anything to compromise what their fans think/what they think of themselves.

Hogan is just as 2-faced as the rest of them. He said he didn't care if Shawn ribbed him on camera like the HBK of old (1998-ish). He ended up getting mad over it and not telling him to his face. Then Hogan told Shawn he'd give him a rematch and never did. Hogan is about money, image, and arrogance. The funny thing..in one of their promos Hogan says "Your out here only for yourself, when I'm here for the fans" when actually Hogan's just there for the money and the win.

Another classic example is Shawn and Bret. They each had reasons not to job to each other, and look what happened when the puppetmaster pulled the strings...

your right that is worse orton like it or not is one of the best right now i dont like him but i know he not at his best yet he can only get better and i look forward to see what the future has for him

how the hell can a 50 odd year old man beat a guy in his 20s hogan ego is as big if not bigger than vince's
