Doesn't NXT remind you of American Gladitors sometimes?

During the NXT season's apart of the season long competition Matt Striker host the NXT "Challenges". Like the NXT challenges set up to look like a spin-off the old American Gladitors show. Even during the first season of NXT with the Nexus running through course's like going up & down threw the croed to go guzzle down a cup of soda and such.

The joust really had me convinced. It took me back to those days of American Gladitors and Battle Dome (which featured actor Terry Crews lol). Besides wrestling skills, could the WWE find another way to find the WWE's next break out star?

Now that you have mentioned it, it does seem a bit like Gladiators, I only noticed that after reading what you said, perhaps a point system could be incorporated with that points contributing to 20% of the final poll and 40% from the pros and another 40% coming from the audience. They have the mic skills challenge which obviously shows how good their mic skills are.
Although some of the challenges seem really boring, including the obstacle course in NXT 1, just pointless. While I think the obstacle course makes NXT more like its own show and sets it apart from the rest, it should make them a bit shorter and spread them throughout the show.
