I have not once heard of this yellow light "issue" until just now. Must be a very rare occurrence.Everything that Will just said is my answer. PS3 does the same thing but they won't help you if you get the yellow light. At least Microsoft will fix it if you red ring.
Very debatable, i'm sure there are just as many if not more fans of Sony than there are of Microsoft. We have loved every Playstation from it's conception and buy each one because they're quality systems. Unlike Xbox fans who buy a whole new console for the next installment of Halo or whatever other overrated garbage sequel is on the horizon. If Xbox made online free, the PS3 wouldn't exist anymore. No one would play their PS3, they would play Xbox and it would happen to Xbox. With the exception of a few people, PS3 would be unplayed.
PC > Consoles.
This right here is why I hate to game on a PC.I guess I'm just used to having a game controller in my hands to play video games.
I recognise the PS3 is the technologically better system, however I personally love my Xbox. Sure its not perfect, but I'm sure the PS3 isn't either. Really at the end of the day, its down to personal preference.
And fanboys annoy the shit out of me, especially the Microsoft ones who refuse to belive the 360 is not faultless.
Has anyone ever used the towel trick? I was scared to get near my 360 after the noises it made.
I only did once and then sent it in. It worked for like an hour and then broke again.

random google found website said:So you must have read other articles that we posted about how ps3 yellow light of death is a common and a growing problem. The no. of cases reported with the ps3 yellow light of death are increasing day by day. With Sony charging around 150$ on this fix, along with clearing off the data on your ps3 isn't the public favorite anymore.
It's as rare as the red ring that Microsoft has.
http://beefjack.com/news/console-failure-rate-survey-conducted-xbox-360-at-42/42% of Xbox 360 owners answered Yes compared to a relatively small 8% of PS3 owners. When asked whether theyd had to repair or replace their console more than once, 23.1% of 360 owners answered Yes compared to only 0.96% of PS3 owners.
http://www.squaretrade.com/htm/pdf/SquareTrade_Xbox360_PS3_Wii_Reliability_0809.pdfLooking at the first 2 years of ownership, 2.7% of Wii owners reported a system failure to SquareTrade, compared with 10.0% of PlayStation 3 owners, and 23.7% for Xbox 360 owners.
Having a system that breaks down nearly 25% of the time < having a system that never breaks downGetting your system repaired for free > Having to pay $150.00 to Sony, for a problem you didn't cause.
