I LIKE VIDEOGAMES
I LIKE SAVING MONEY
AND I BET YOU DO TOO
Basically I'm going to be using this thread to talk about great downloadable videogames you can get online [legally] for free or cheap and I'll be bumping it whenever there's a great discount or promotion going on. Feel free to do the same.

This site is amazing! Tons of quality cheap classics, most of them ten dollars or less! Broken Sword, Fallout 1 and 2, Planescape Torment, Waxworks, Sanitarium, Freespace 2, Earthworm Jim 1 and 2, and more. Plus, just for making an account you get four free games, including the amazing point-and-click Beneath A Steel Sky which is worth ten dollars in itself.
Some of my favorite deals on that site are Duke Nukem 3D and Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project both for $5.99. Duke Nukem 3D is an absolute blast, a first person shooter that still feels fresh today. If you install the High Resolution Mod you can launch it using eDuke32, giving it a fresh coat of paint and some new weapons, maps, and features, all for free! Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project is a lesser known Duke game, a shoot-em-up platformer with acrobatics, guns, babes, and lots of sarcastic Duke dialogue. Great fun, and the graphics are in slick and smooth 3D on a 2D plane.
Deus Ex (The original)
$9.99 on Steam. Absolutely amazing, brilliant game. It organically changes and shifts with every action you perform. The atmosphere, the gameplay, the music, the dialogue, the story, all of it combines to create an incredible experience unlike any I've played before. If you haven't played it yet, what the hell are you waiting for?!
Be sure to install the DirectX 10 mod for full visual experience. It makes the game look SO much better. Tutorial here: http://kentie.net/article/d3d10drv/
Indigo Prophecy ("Fahrenheit" in the UK)
$9.99 digital download on Amazon.com. By the creators of Heavy Rain, and much the same style of game. It came first, though. Very cinematic and already it's given me several scares and tense moments. Runs perfectly on Windows 7 and it looks WAY better than the PS2 version, which I found to be rather blurry and muddy.
My only problem I've had with it so far is that the controls can be rather awkward at first, and the Quicktime controls just aren't very good at all especially since I'm used to how well they were handled in Heavy Rain. Once you get them down though it's easy to get immersed in the experience.
Also, as someone who likes to add their games to Steam, you need to do a bit of browsing around in order to add the correct link. The "Launch Indigo Prophecy" that appears automatically in the Steam menu is actually a shortcut to the shortcut of the original program, and Steam doesn't like that. However, the actual EXE file is easily found in wherever you installed the game, so that's not too much bother. Just something to note.
Well, those are my Insane Deals I've found so far. I'll be sure to discuss more whenever something like Steam giving away Portal for free happens again. Hope you guys get some use out of this thread, and contribute Insane Deals yourself.
