Getting Noticed By Management
Passing along this Dixie tweet since there's been a lot of talk about the ticket sales for this week's tapings:

@TNADixie
#TNANYC: Friday is sold out!!! Thanks so much! We will try to release holds, but get tix for tomorrow and Thurs here: impac.tw/1nkjPNM

Congratulations to TNA, all the negative news going around I am glad to read something like this. How do you guys feel? Is TNA gaining momentum?

Thats the one taping day that I chose to go to and I am hearing nothing going on there. As Wed has the Great Muta and Thurs, Destination X but I am sure it will be a good show and especially the fans will make it over the top.

Friday probably sold out first because Friday is more convenient for the average person who works the 9-5, M-F grind. I'm not sure if this means TNA is gaining more momentum, but I'd like that roster to have more success and hopefully the NYC shows go well for them.

This is at the Manhattan Center? As in the place that holds like three thousand people for wrestling? Dixie Carter is bragging about an arena that holds that many people selling out in a city with ten million people three days before showtime where a front row seat is $75?

That's really not something that you write home about. Doesn't ROH regularly sell these shows out in a few days? Selling out a show in New York City, one of the best wrestling cities in the world, is something that you should do without thinking about it.

Also, unless they're the reserves she's talking about, Ticketmaster has about a hundred seats available as of 11:40 AM EST, including some in the lower seating areas for under $50.

I bought the $20 ticket and apparently Im in the 4th row. Not so bad.
This is going to be held in the room where the 1st Raws were held and not the Hammerstein Ballroom where ECW rocked the house....so it holds alot less. It holds about 1,500 people.

Actually this is in the Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Center(where the first Raw was held), not the larger Hammerstein Ballroom in the building that ECW used to use and that ROH typically plays. The Hammerstein can be set up to hold 2300-2800 for wrestling, while the Grand Ballroom holds closer to 1,000(roughly equal to the Impact Zone).

But I'll reiterate what I said in the thread about TNA booking the venue:
When ROH played a IPPV/TV taping double-shot in the Manhattan Center last year, where did they play the second night? The Grand Ballroom. Why? Because they knew they couldn't put a respectable crowd downstairs two nights in a row, and the Grand Ballroom looks AWESOME when its packed, far better than a half full Hammerstein.

For TNA's purposes, the Grand Ballroom is a far better option and should translate excellently to television, as it will probably be full.

If the Grand Ballroom was good enough to host 20+ Raws in the first couple years, its good enough to host some Impact tapings during the slow summer months.

TNA may have been able to sell more tickets if they used the Hammerstein, but if its only 70% full each night, then using the smaller room and filling it up will translate better on tv.

Point of the fact of the matter is that many people scoffed at TNA even running a show in New York and made fun of the fact that they wouldn't be able to sell out the Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom. Things seem to have started to pick up for the comp-any as things got much better right before Slammiversary and seem to be picking up more as things go. It really makes a huge difference not being in that crappy set stage in Orlando. It really does suck the life out of the product and helps to make TNA look bad because the "Fans" are just bad in Orlando. Seeing them sell out the show and hopefully have a HOT crowd is just what the company needs as long as they keep a strong show going. Nothing but well wishes for TNA as long as they do what they are supposed to do. Get things staright and get things moving in the right direction and keep it moving that way. I am hoping that the dismall days of the company are gone and that New York is the right direction.

Non-spoiler look-in at last night, to show the building looking full and nicely arranged in a way that should translate spectacularly to television:

I like this set up, really. The smaller arena without that huge screen above it looks very nice. This is what TNA should be doing. Would help them save some money on transporting stuff too. I'd rather see a full looking small arena than a mostly empty large arena with a giant screen for no real reason. I can't wait to see the New York tapings. Sounds like it was fun.

Man, can these so called Wrestlezone Writers be any more blatant in trying to spoil what happened at the 3 days of tapings? Just the headline titles alone recently are giving away a bunch of spoilers.

Damn I love seeing that building for some reason...

ECW ran some of the most packed shows there. WWE marks will bitch about overall numbers, but the fans were basically ON TOP OF THE WRESTLERS and crammed in there.

It made for epic TV.

WWE shows that sell out but have non-rowdy crowds aren't nearly as exciting as a super packed crowd in this building.
