Well you are partially correct. It is part Mark Ruffalo, Lou Ferrigno, the sound engineer who designed it, and some other sounds thrown in. There was a behind the scenes interview about the making of the voice on youtube but I can't seem to find it now.

I don't know about Ireland but in the UK it was called Avengers Assemble I assume because of our 1960's show The Avengers.
