David Otunga's return

On WWE.com there is an interview where Otunga uses his law skills to analyse the Big Show's potential lawsuit against WWE for wrongful termination and this leads me to believe that on the Raw after HIAC Otunga will turn face in a segment where he explains the lawsuit to HHH which leads HHH to set up a match with Big Show for his job in either a singles or 5 vs 5 match. I think it was also lead to Otunga being attacked by Orton like what happened to Miz or The Shield fight him in a 3 v 1 handicap later that night on Raw.

What are your thoughts on Otunga's potential return?

Whether he is Heel or Face?

What part will he play in the Authority storyline?

Could he 5th member of team Big Show (Show, Bryan, Cody, Goldust and Otunga) vs Team Authority (HHH, Orton and Shield)?

It will be good to see David O back-as a face. I can't wait to see where this storyline between the Big Show and the McMahon's/Levesque's leads David to. And I hope that David has worked on his in-ring skills during his time off from the WWE. He has decent mic skills, but lacks some wrestling skills. Maybe David will be taken seriously this time around.

Now the WWE just needs to bring Ezekiel Jackson back!

I've got no real interest in David Otunga returning for an on screen role in WWE. Otunga has a great physique but he's just not that good of a wrestler whether it's working inside the ring or talking on the mic. There are simply FAR more talented members of the roster that would be able to make better use of whatever air time is spent on Otunga.

As far as Otunga's presence as part of this angle, it's overkill. There are already enough non-wrestlers involved in this angle, or there certainly will be if Vince pops up on Raw this Monday. I'd say that most viewers won't give a shit about Otunga coming out to be Show's "lawyer" and spouting a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo during a promo segment. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that's exactly what we're gonna get and it's not exactly gonna make for riveting television.

So..Otunga will be playing a lawyer, and a face, all at once? That's really happening? Has a lawyer gimmick in the WWE, or any other wrestling promotion, ever been cheered?

I can't think of it. Sure can't visualize it. Maybe if WWE goes with this right it will surprise me, but I just don't see a lawyer character getting a good reaction from the crowd. That on top of his mediocre skills on the mic and in the ring I don't see this going far, and there are at least 5 other people I'd rather have come back than him.

Not to mention this angle really doesn't need more for Big Show than it already has.

It's gonna be good to see Otunga come back. It will be interesting how he plays a part in the story and how long he stays this time.

I think this is the start of a new Tag Team, remember how Xavier Woods signed the petition for Big Show - I can easily see a Lawyer and a Doctorate team with Otunga and Woods going forward.

As for the legal angle, sure it' hokey but it's there to give Vince the way back into the story and to be at odds with Hunter... he would have been behind him till the lawsuit. Also they seem to have conveniently forgotten the walkout of a couple of years ago on Hunter when it was a "dangerous environment"... or have they? I could even see a repeat next week on RAW.

although that would be great I would love to see him return with the "badass hollywood a-list gimmick" as heel win the IC title lose it and in 2014 or 2015 win the WWE title

Can't think of anyone who has. When they show up in a jacket and tie, fans boo .....which says something, although I'm not sure what.

Of course, two exceptions of guys in suits were Triple H and Vince McMahon, although being owners of the company imply something entirely different than being a professional person plying his trade. But then, The Miz has appeared in a suit, both as a face and heel, yet not trying to put across any legal directives, so it's not just the clothing that makes the man.

Of course, there was Irwin R. Schyster with his white shirt, tie and suspenders. No one was ever going to cheer him and unlike most performers, that character never had a run as a face.

David Otunga could be the first good guy lawyer, largely because he really is an attorney. I don't know whose idea it was that he be missing from the ring for so long, but I keep getting a vision of Vince McMahon saying: "What does Otunga want to waste his time practicing law when he has a chance to be a WWE superstar?"

Oh man this guy is one of my unpopular opinions because I think he's absolutely brilliant - okay, not brilliant but at least someone I just like to watch both in the ring and cutting a promo. His gimmick is actually something really fresh and it's all better when I know that he's in fact a Harvard Student with a Law Degree.

There's no problem in my mind seeing this David Otunga going over as a babyface - clearly he has passion for the industry and his background story can turn him in a heart bit and then he has that good physique and he's married to a famous actress/singer that people do love and are attached mostly thanks to her awful life story in the past years.

Now I'm going to be realistic, it would be very hard for the IWC to ever get behind this guy. He's obviously not a great worker per si, but he has his spot and I think that he should have had his opportunity after turning on John Laurinaitis. I'm glad they are using him the best way possible - as a character to bring some "reality" to a storyline, but as a fan of him and his work I would have no problem seeing him get more TV time.

They should just Future Endeavor him. He's a waste. Sure he's got a great physique, but that's it. He brings nothing else to the table. The writers are just wasting their time if they are trying to come up with an angle for him. David Otunga, good luck in all your future endeavors.

I see you as becomming one of the most active guy's on here, your threads are very good and well written, i do not think otunga should return as a heel, cause its boring and worn out. otunga should be a face and maybe bring him into a rivarly with fan dan go!

I don't know whose idea it was that he be missing from the ring for so long, but ...:

I don't know why either, but did see him a few months ago as a legal analyst on cnn during the Jodi Arias trial and a few other things. Maybe he was given a leave of absence for things of that nature.

Imagine you are a new wwe writer, and you have to write the comeback and return of David Utanga..

Now, THAT what i would call a job.
