Work.

Once again...

The question remains - is Bryan 'Daniel Bryan' Danielson actually fired from WWE?

According to the WWE.com website, they note that WWE has come to terms on the release of NXT first season rookie Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) as of today June 11, 2010. Notice how they put BOTH 'Daniel Bryan' AND Bryan Danielson? That would appear to mean he's been released for real.

It should be noted though that according to one source I spoke with, they speculated that WWE was doing an angle where 'Daniel Bryan' is fired and Bryan Danielson will be his new ring name. This is not confirmed though and it doesn't seem to make sense seeing as WWE mentions both Daniel Bryan and Bryan Danielson in their release post.

We can also report that his WWE twitter name was just changed to Bryan Danielson and he mentioned it, saying "the winds of change are stirring."

WWE then announced Daniel Bryan had been future endeavored on the WWE.com website.

Well, I look at it as a win-win here. Either this is a work, and he gets even more momentum by coming back after being "fired" again or he really is released and I might be able to see him in ROH next month when I go see them.

I wasn't aware "Daniel Bryan" had a WWE contract, I remember Ashton Kutcher giving him a one day contract so he could wrestle Miz a few weeks ago on Raw, but other than that I don't think kayfabe-wise that he was ever under contract, therefore couldn't be resleased

Good point, maybe he was just released from that one-day contract?

By that I mean, maybe he was released the day after, and theyre just posting it now.

In an update on the Daniel Bryan being released story, Dave Meltzer reports that the word being sent out internally was that his firing was legitimate. According to Meltzer, several key people in the company were informed that he was gone before the post was put up on WWE's website.

It's still unknown for sure what the situation is, since it's hard to believe he would be released for real. On the other hand, it's also hard to believe that top officials would be told something that was actually a storyline.

If this whole thing is a storyline, it wouldn't be the first time that wrestling employees were "worked" by their company.

take this for what its worth or for how much you trust Dave Meltzer

This better be a work, or then it looks like one of the season 2 guys will have to be put in the faction...maybe Kaval, but i hope Danielson isn't fired.

The way the release is written up doesn't ring true for me. Do they normally publish the wrestler's actual name/other ring names alongside their current ring name? I don't recall them ever doing so.

The site's also clumsy enough to leave a picture of him doing the crippler crossface up about one click away from the main page.

The whole Twitter thing has me believing that this is a work.

'The Winds of Change are stirring'. That jus leads me to believe this is all part of a work. Even Meltzer is claiming it's a work now.

However Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Bryan’s firing is a “work,” and actually just part of the storyline started last Monday. This would be the first time that the company has used their website to promote a “fake” firing in such a manner.

I'm not buying it and I won't even if he shows up at an ROH show. Let's think about this for a minute.

We have the biggest angle in years. Vince and Stephanie are allegedly very happy with it. Four days later the guy is released. To get released legitimately, he would have had to more or less been caught by HHH shooting Linda while stealing Vince's stock as he fucked Stephanie in Shane's house. I don't buy it.

first of all that was hilarious,

but @ the same time WWE editing the replays i think spells out its legit, lets not also forget that Wade Barret is the "leader" of this group, and the storyline could very well much be continued with or without Danielson, it would obviously lose alot of its luster but can be continued nonetheless

I doubt it. With that shouting at Cena, you couldn't hear it fully because the cash register sounds in Vince's head drowned it out. Can you imagine the indy fans hearing about Cena vs. Danielson on PPV? You wouldn't be printing tickets. You would be printing money. The tie thing sounds like something that was perfectly set up. Also, the Fink got beaten up as did Lawler. It sounds to me like they are setting up for something big later. The timing is just WAY too good for the biggest angle in a long time. I don't buy it at all.

you bring up a great point, and thats really why i still have a little hope this whole thing is a work, why wait till the weekend when the thing aired live on monday, the timing is weird to say the least....but to me the editing of the replays is a strong statement that the thing is legit

That's just it: it's too weird. Guys have been caught using steroids and get three strikes, people say the wrong company name, there are fights backstage and they don't get released, but one 5 second shot on TV of something where far worse has been done in the middle of a scene that's booked to look like a riot is grounds for a guy being released? I don't think so. As for the reports of everyone being told he's released, so? There's a very simple way around that. Say Vince, Danielson and I guess Stephanie are the ONLY people that know what's really going on. They say the following to the writers: "I know some of yout alk to Meltzer. I don't know which, so if I read anything from him that says one of my writers say it's a work, you're all fired, no questions asked."

See how easy it would be to keep it a secret?

Unfortunately KB, I believe this is a legit firing.

Apparently, he was released because of choking Justin Roberts with his tie, somebody with "Power" within the WWE complained to WWE officials, hence the release.

They are looking to bring him back though.

Not for nothing, but wasn't Kennedy released right around the time he had just returned from injury and was being heavily (once again) pushed?

Or was he cut because he received yet another injury? I seem to think that was the true half.

He was cut because he almost caused an injury to Orton.

Him and Cena complained that he was too dangerous to work with.

I still stand by thinking this can't be real, on the simple understanding that the Company would be too stupid to risk losing all the money they'd make off him.
