Crunk/Screamo...Someone Shoot Me

Life's A Bitch, And Then You Mosh
I'm a huge fan of screamo. It's not a secret. But, this is an abomination.

I was researching some of the bands I'd be seeing at Warped Tour, and came across this. I had to show someone else, so I forced Marquis to listen. He had some very not-nice words to say about it, and about me, for making him listen to it.

It's pure crap. I can't believe I've ever found something that awful.

Dude, that's the worse crap I think that I've ever heard.... How do people even listen to that is beyond me. I'm into scremo, but that is horrible...

WOW...just....WOW.

I wasn't very keen on Brokencyde before, but now I have no respect for them. What the fuck is that bullshit? I get that they're just joking around and trying to have a good time, but that's just fucking awful. Crunk and the rest of that party-club-rap genre is the exact fucking opposite of the spirit of punk rock and screamo, Crunk is all about excess and materialism, punk rock (and screamo) is about rejecting that petty materialism.

Atrocious. An insult to punk rock and my ears as well.

Here's the problem. They're not just having fun. Listen to any of their interviews. They really think they're the next big thing, and that they're the creators of the next big genre. It's sad. Every band at Warped Tour was trashing them, and it was almost to the point of feeling bad for them. They had a few people at their merch tent though, but not nearly enough to qualify as a fanbase.

You guys do realize that there was an entire album put out by Punk Goes... that was dedicated to Crunk music, correct? It was one of the worst rated albums they have complied however, and the reviews tore it to shreds.

Sure, not all the songs on the album are actually Crunk, but they are all junk.

I'm more concerned at what their wearing in that pic :S I actually like this song. I hate the singers voice, and I don't like "Screamo" but the beat is infectious. It reminds me of "Yah" by Soulja Boy, but with screaming.

I can see that they are attempting to seem more mainstream(since the song is very poppy) but I can see how they would totally alienate the "Screamo" fans. His screams really are annoying though. And I hate when suburban white boys try and act "gangsta".

Anything that reminds anyone of Soulja Boy should not be released, anywhere. The beat isn't good, because they try to make it work with screamo. If they were writing strictly for rap/hip-hop, then it might be workable, but not here. Not ever.

They're not really suburban white boys. They're from Kentucky or something. They're definitely rural. No offense KB, just saying they ain't city boys. I don't know if I can even say they're alienating screamo, because I don't know what they started as. If they were screamo, and then went to this, then yes, and they need to be drawn and quartered. If they were hip-hop/crunk, and went to this, they can go back.

Euch.

I only made it a couple minutes in. I think my brain bled.

I enjoy the sound of the voices of screamo artists, there is something very primal about it that I identify with. I am also rather jealous of them at times as a vocalist as I will never be able to replicate this style as my mom and dad sent me off to choir camp when I was younger where I could learn to sing "properly".

But this was an assault to the senses. I understand wanting to do something new and to fuse musical influences, but this doesn't sound musically coherent in any way shape or form. The hip hop musical accompaniment sounds ridiculously out of place...
