I was under the impression the question was about: the wrestler who benefited most, not the company that benefited most. If I misinterpreted the question than you statement works as I fully agree ECW hardly gained anything at all especially considering how short his stay was. Then again even if I did understand the question properly My answer is that of in the long run and could very well and might as well me the answer to the who benefited the most going from ecw to wwf to me austin wins both those arguements and essentially im saying, Austin by being fired from wcw, and getting to wwf, counting all the stops along the way was the wrestler who personally benefited the most from switching amongst the 3 companies being discussed. and i can go back to the top 3 money making and over wrestlers once again the rock wwe homegrown hogan going to wcw wasn't such a huge jump up for him, some would say a jump down, others just to the other side nevertheless not comparable to Austins path and what he got out of it. So having already covered if i did or didnt understand the question correctly...I;d like to extend that if the 6 threads were to have been made just to figure out which wrestler singularly and personally speaking gained the most by moving to a different company I'd say Austin.
If the question were, as you put it, which wrestlers move was most beneficial to the company they switched too. as far as wcw to ecw is concerned as much as foley again isnt a bad answer, your answer of shane douglas would be near impossible to argue against and I'm not going to sit here and say who Shane is and what he did this is a wrestling forum so if your reading this you know what the hell im talking about anyway, and if your new to this site or wrestling in general read some old threads, look up names on wikipedia or in this instance buy the rise and fall of ecw.[/QUOTE
the problem with your answer though is when stev went from ecw to the wwe he was not superstar steve austin or even stone cold steve austin, he was the uber lame and ineffectice ringmaster. the highlight of his early career was being million dollar champion. the move from ecw to wwe did not really pay off for him, until he became stone cold and did promos more simular to his superstar steve austin gimick. and yes im well aware of the many things that have gone wrong in troy martins life. im also aware that without him there likely would have been no ECW and though he has made mistakes in later years, i prefer to look at him for the entirety of his work.
Now as far as crossover from WCW to WWE when considering Steves short run in ECW I would say Steve is by far the biggest crossover star that went from WCW to the WWE. it is simply how you choose to look at his ECW run. I see it as a short cross over while his no compete clause expired. Much like Ravens second ECW run.
