Could this be the best WrestleMania of the 2000s?

Let me start off by saying that i know that is a very huge assumption! But look at the card we have this year (some of these matches arent announced yet but we know they are happening)

WWE title
Batista vs John Cena
Will this be the best match of the night? no! but there match a few years ago at SS was great and this match has so much more meaning to it, this is the Rock-Austin of the PG era

World Heavyweight title
Jericho vs Edge
This match is gonna be amazing, we all saw this coming for months but i am so glad it is actually happening and i cant wait for this one, it will be a classic!

Career vs streak
Undertaker vs HBK
When was the last time you didnt know if taker was gonna win at mania? ummmm never! this is the rematch of one of the best matches of all time! imagine if they can top the first?!

Money in the bank ladder match
Christian, kane, mvp, dolph ziggler,shelton benjamin, jack swagger so far are announced but who cares?! this match is always awesome!

Rey Mysterio vs Cm Punk
Once again this is not announced but we all know its happening, most likely with a hair vs mask stipulation but either way this match will be awesome!

HHH vs Sheamus
Not announced but happening for sure, will this be the best match on the card? no! but i look to see if trips will lose to sheamus to put him over

That is the card so far as i see it with a few more matches to add (prolly a tag title match and a IC title match) To me i see this as being an amazing mania and i cant wait for it!

But back to my question.... Could this be the best mania of the 2000s? I know there have been a few great manias in this decade (19 and 20 being the best in my opinion) But there have also been some terrible ones (25!) and i think this year will be great!

So what do you guys think? Could this mania be the best of the decade(if you think so please give reasons why)? Is there another mania that you feel was the best(if so which mania and why)? Please no bashing eachother in here! Its just opinions!

I actually look this as the first PPV of the new decade, seeing as if you count Wrestlemania 2000, there are already 10 PPV's to consider.

But if we're gonna look at all the Wrestlemania's of the new millenium, I think this one has a shot at being up there. It certainly appears to be one of the most stacked cards in awhile, at least since Wrestlemania 19 or 20.

Wrestlemania's 17 and 19 are absolutely phenomenal, two of the greatest, not only wrestling shows, but greatest PPV's of all time. Just by looking at the card, I don't think WM26 will be able to beat those, but I may be wrong. But this Mania should be off the hook, and the next 9 Manias this decade will have a hard act to follow.

lol i think Wrestlemania X7 already won in my books but then again its prolly not fair since it was before the brand splits.

And the only reason i say X7 is because it utilized all its talent effectively, even the Divas held their end of the deal and the storylines and build ups going into it were great. The Tag champs meant something here (no one can forget TLC) and all the heel/face turns. It was just a great ppv to watch that kept me entertained.

First of all no because we are in the 10's not the 00's so that means this will be the best mania of the 10's cause its the first of the decade but aside from that this wrestlemania can be really good it has a lot of matches i really want to see like edge vs jericho and dream matches like bret hart vs Mcmahon which if i said will happen even last year people would never had belived it but remember people thought WM25 was going to be really good as well but ended up being poor and a let down so dont get sucked in the this will be the greatest mania hype because it ends up you expecting too much and then you think its bad cause it wont live up to the hype.

Lets wait and see first ok.

I think it does have the possibility of being one of the best if not the best. These matches all have to be great but in thier own way of being great. The best wrestlemanias of the last 10 years in my mind were wrestlemania 20,21,23. this wrestlemania is stacked but then again every wrestlemania in the last nine years has been stacked, it just the matches dont live up to the hype or potential (like orton hhh last year). Iam worried about the MIB match i hate big people in it that are nevor going to win it in the first place cause last years sucked. Other that i think every match so far should live up to the potential and be great.

If 20, 21, and 23 were the best you've seen this decade, then you clearly haven't been watching for a whole decade. WMXX was a HUGE let down. It was a stacked card and hyped to the max, and out of 12 matches on the card, only maybe 3 delivered. And I'd like to point out that it SHOULD have been for, had it not been for the Lesnar-Goldberg fiasco.

21 wasn't all that great either. It was a huge improvement on XX, but it still had two HORRID filler matches in Trish Stratus vs. Christy Hemme and Big Show-Akebono. I also wasn't a big fan of the Triple H-Batista match. It wasn't terrible, but I didn't find it great, and I hadn't yet bought into Batista as a Wrestlemania headliner. I was stoked for JBL-Cena but thought it was above average at best. When you only have 8 matches on a WM card, you gotta make sure they all deliver. I'll go ahead and say 4 of the matches were actually WM-worthy.

23 was a very good Mania. But not the best. I may rank 17,18, and 19 as ALL better than Mania 23. Again, with only 8 matches on the card, WWE went ahead and put 2 REALLY BAD filler matches in there (Kane-Khali and Melina-Ashley). The ECW Originals-New Breed match very meh, as was Lashley-Umaga, but we got to see Vince's head shaved and Trump got Stunnered, so I'll chalk that up as a pro. And the other four matches were very good, with a main event that was head and shoulders above the previous year's main event. It capped the night off spectacularly.

Based on the card alone, I would say that Mania 26 will easily be better than 20 and 21, and, as long as each match on the card does what is expected of it, should be better than both 18 and 23. But I highly doubt there will EVAH be a Mania that can top 17 and 19.

Actually, I think it has a good chance (based on card and build-up) to be one of the worst Mania's of the new millenium.

Cena vs. Batista (WWE Title): I dislike both of these guys. As a matter of fact, I don't either one of them can put on a good match unless they have a superior opponent. So how can this work out? I don't think it can. Sure, it can be entertaining in Warrior/Hogan kind of way, but it doesn't have the energy that match had. But, I have like Batista as a heel...although I think that will go away when he actually WRESTLES at Mania.

Edge vs. Jericho-WHC: More than likely, this match will be great. Both of these guys are great in ring competitors, and have been here before. But the feud has been a bit underwhelming, minus Edge returning at the Rumble. I just don't like the way this feud has been playing out. One night, Jericho talks some trash, Edge comes to the ring, spear, whatever. Next week, Edge comes to the ring, talks some trash, Jericho comes down, spear. It has been boring to me. The match will not be boring at all, but the build up hasn't been that great, IMO.

HBK vs. Undertaker: I have seen this match quite a few times, but never with this much on the line..and I'm not sure I like it so far. If Taker loses, I am going to be really upset. This streak is HUGE for his legacy. It's really the only thing that sets him apart. He has never had his OWN era, he has always played second fiddle to someone else. If Shawn loses and retires, it's been a pretty crappy build up. If he comes back AFTER losing a retirement match, it will be crap. But I do like the fact that I am unable to really predict an ending, so we'll see.

Hart vs. McMahon: Wrestling wise, this will be the worst match on the card...and I LOVE it. It will be a knock-down, drag-out brawl. Bret will whip his ass all over the arena, and it will be great. And, every big-spot junkie out there will cry his/her eyes out because these guys are , God forbid, over the age of 28. 12 years in the making, I'm excited. And maybe Austin as guest ref? Just keeps getting better and better.

MITB Match: Always a super-entertaining match. But the premise is getting a bit old. Plus, I don't really have anyone in particular I am rooting for, maybe Christian, but he doesn't do THAT much for me.

Big Show/Miz vs. ANOTHER random Tag Team (won't mention who, don't want to be a spoiler: Two random tag teams, ONCE AGAIN, fighting for the tag belts. Will this junk ever end? Will we EVER get a good tag division again?

So, I guess I am interested in a few things here. I will be interested to see Vince/Bret, Taker/Michaels (just to see how it all ends up), and whatever involves Orton/DiBiase/Rhodes. But other than that, I am not real pumped. I am sure they will ad a womens match..who cares. In my mind, this has NO CHANCE of being anywhere near what Mania 17 was. Nowhere near what 19 was. But as always, I could be surprised, and I hope I am (I better be, I am spending 50 bucks on this damn thing).

It's not going to be the best, but it's a lot better than it has been for years. You have an incredibly stacked card, not to mention half of the matches are almost guaranteed to deliver. For the first time in a number of years, this biggest card of the year feels like it' supposed to. I actually buy into this being the pinnacle of this business. It won't beat 17 or 19, but it's infinitely better than 25,24,23,23,22 and so on. If it ends up being as good as I think it will, it will be slightly behind 17 and 19.

Actually first off he said "of the 2000s?" which can certainly be interpreted and assumed to be a decade, as in 10 years, or he could mean of this millennium. Either way, as you can interpret it how you wish, you would be correct. That said, as we count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and since the common calendar started with year 1 not year 0 a proper decade is 2001 - 2010 not the usually thought of 2000 - 2009.
However if one were to understand it to mean the latter this year's Wrestlemania would have to be the best Mania of the "10s" by default simply due to the fact that (of this writing) it would be the first and therefore only Wrestlemania so far of the "10s", making the whole original thread as a topic somewhat moot or pointless and bordering on the nonsensical as by that logic it could be equally true to say it will be the worst. Therefore for the post to make any bit of relevant sense it would have to either be the best WM of the whole millennium so far or the best from 2001-through 2010.

Minutia aside, I was at 'Mania 20 (2004) and for me personally I'm not sure if I will ever see a Wrestlemania moment that can topple the sheer artisan-like masterpiece forever etched into my minds eye of Benoit and Guerrero standing together triumphant, confetti showering down as each man was in the very instant of living out his personal, and perhaps their collective, dream.
Sadly I've yet to have such emotional investment even close to the same level with the current roster, but maybe things will be different in the not so far off future?
As an aside however, this year's card is shaping up rather well and I will be anticipating Wrestlemania more than I have in the past few years.

#10 wrestlemania 21
Wwe did a terrible event n fans, unlike other wrestlemanias,could'nt see a match on d card they cud look forward to. How cud they risk an event such ar wm to push the 2 stars, cena n batista into the the world title picture? If angle vs. Hbk wouldn't have been on d card, this event wud have been a disaster.

#9 wrestlemania 25
I started watching wm since wm19 n after wm 20, i was sure that the 25th wrestlemania wud be an instant classic. I'd predicted 5 yrs before that the card wud feature matt vs. Jeff n it happened! I also predicted cena vs. Batista after watching lesnar vs. Goldberg, but i was shocked 2 see that bout at summer slam 2008. Yet i had high hopes from wm 25, and what i got 2 see is some dumb wrestling. We'd seen hhh vs. Ortan a dozen times. Then what was the need to make it d main event? It was frustrating. But thanks 2 hbk n taker, we got 2 see a rare jewel amidst loads of junk.

Again, hhh was forced 2 d top at d wrong time, when they had the rock . Who deserved a wm main event win.(remember, the rock has never won a wain event at wm!)

Well, it's right that this one had d classic confrontation between d rock n hulk hogan, but the main event sucked to d core. Another forced push 4 hhh(you all know why)

#6 wrestlemania 23
This was a great event but over d yrs, i've noticed that the wm's of even numbers are more entertaining than the d odd no. Ones. I luved d battle of billionares n taker vs. Batista. The MITB was full of main eventers including ortan, edge, king booker. I simply liked this one.

#5 wrestlemania 17
This one is memorable 4 2 moments-edge speasing hardy in d air in the greatest tlc match of all time which can't be duplicated ever, n the other was d moment when austin sold his soul 2 satan n joined forces with mr. Mcmahon.this one was a classic

#4 wrestlemania 24
This was what we call wrestlemania! The venue was the best till date, we had a long lineup of matches on d card including d entertaining battle royal(they shud have one every year), n the emotional classic featuring hbk n ric flair. Again, full marks to d venue.

#3 wrestlemania 22
This was awesome! A card which was suitable for a perfect wrestlemania. I still wonder how in d hell did the undertaker managed 2 tombstone OR how cud edge gather enough courage to burn himself with foley OR how cud wwe think of such a great idea of michaels connecting a flying elbow 2 vince from top of a ladder almost 20 feet in length! Among these , we'll never ever forget d ultimate underdog, rey mysterio's moment !

#2 wrestlemania 20
The fans predicted whole year that who would headline wm 20 n wwe did a great event. The buileup for this event started months ago n if lesnar n goldberg cud put their efforts in that dream match, this wud've been a perfect wrestlemania n top on my list too.

#1 wrestlemania 19
This was my first wrestlemania did i got a treat 2 watch! The card was decorated with matches like hbk vs. Y2j, austin vs. Rock 3, hogan vs. Vince, n lesnar vs. Angle. The atmosphere inside safeco field was electrifying. The arena was huge with a long entrance way for d superstars. We saw hbk teaching jericho what mr. Wrestlemania means, hogan n vince beating d hell out of each other, the rock finally beating austin 1 2 3, n to end the event, a spectacular wwe title match after which both angle n lesnar hugged each other to give a memorable finish to wrestlemania 19!
