So i stumbled across a technique that a lot of musicians have used in the past and that technique is to associate color and music + emotion.
There is a condition called Synesthesia where people have a sensory overlap. The symptoms can be that colors are seen when certain sounds or music is heard. There are many types of this condition not just sound related. I believe some scientists have speculated that we all have some small aspect of synesthesia.
If so, I suspect thats where the color association comes from. My friend has synesthesia. She also has perfect pitch and She sees a different color for every pitch. She also begins to associate different people with different colors as She gets to know them. I'm dark purple
To elaborate a little more on Synesthesia, its sort of a subconscious cross-referencing of certain sensory stimuli. I've only ever heard of people seeing colors when they hear certain sounds but i think there are other manifestations as well.
I have a few questions on this subject regarding on which charts are suitable and accurate for this theory, I have found 3 different graphs, one with a mathematical explanation and another with what it seems like no explanation.
These Questions are :
Which Graph is accurate to a note's octave color ?
What emotion might this provoke in an individual or does it depend on the individual's past experiences ?
and whats your favorite color ?
