Fans of Ring of Honor and the original ECW have always been thought of as 'elitist', and even though I'm a big fan of both companies, I can understand why. The fans who speak out against WWE are the loudest, and most of those fans these past 15 years were fans of what WWE and their fans would call the "Amateur Leagues" of pro wrestling in ECW and Ring of Honor.

Well, being from LSU Country, I must say fans of college sports are WAY fucking worse when it comes to elitism then any fans of ECW and ROH. If I go to a LSU football game with a Saints hoodie on, I'll get heckled non-stop. It's happened before. And to me, I see no logical reason why that happens and why elitists college sports fans swears up and down that college sports are so much better and more “pure” then professional sports.

The argument I here about college sports being better is that these kids play for the love of the game, not for money. These kids give their all no matter what; they're not a bunch of prima donnas like pro athletes are. College sports are more exciting. The fans at the games are so much better... blah blah blah.

And to that I say: Bullshit.

First of all, kids play college sports for one thing: to make it professionally. And that's a fact. Sure, there are some that know they don't have a chance in hell to make it pro, but we all know they would go in a heartbeat if offered to them. So, that makes the "Kids love the game" crap completely irrelevant.

Secondly, I hate the fact that these strict college fans think every pro athlete is a prima donna who doesn't give it their all. I mean, do these people not watch at all? How can you say Ben Roethlisberger, Peyton Manning, Larry Fitzgerald, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, ect. don't give it their all every time they play? They give everything they fucking have to help their team win, and so do most of the athletes in the NFL, NBA, and MLB. Yeah, they are a few rotten apples in the bunch, but you mean to tell me that college doesn't have any players who don't care about anyone but themselves? Pssh...

Thirdly, this 'excitement' crap. I honestly don't know how anyone could ever claim that. Do you not realize that the NFL, NBA, and MLB have the best athletes in the World going head to head every time they go up against each other? The absolute best. That's all you need to know you're getting your time's worth whenever you sit down to watch a NFL, NBA, or MLB game. Because in college, while they do have some good rivalries, it's still just a bunch of random players who you'll never see again three years later. For example, last night, even though I’m not a fan of any of the teams, I enjoyed both games on TNT (Chicago vs. Miami & Dallas vs. Boston) TONS more then I did the Duke/North Carolina game Wednesday night, and it’s because of the reasons I just stated.

Lastly, the fans. Give me a fucking break. First of all, I never understood how there are die-hard fans of a college team when they never even attended the college. I really don't get that. And I'm not talking down to any of you who root for a college team even though you never even attended the school, because I have plenty of family members and friends who I love who fucking bleed purple and gold even though hardly any of them ever went to LSU. I understand rooting for a home town team, but to put all your energy into something like a college that you didn't even attend just doesn't make any sense to me. Plus, I find the fans at college events beyond annoying. Like I said, I watched Duke vs. North Carolina the other night and that atmosphere is ridiculous. Just like how a WWE fan would claim ECW and ROH fans just want to be apart of the show and nothing more, well, fuck... how do you explain fans of Duke's basketball team? It's not because the people in attendance have good school spirit or anything like that, they just want an excuse to get drunk and act like clowns for a couple of hours and since Duke actually has a good team, they're allowed to do that. But there's a reason why you don't see any of those annoying fucks at Duke football games.

Anyway, to end this, what is your opinion? You disagree? If so, explain to me what makes college sports so much better then pro sports. I hear it all the time, but hopefully I'll get an intelligent response here then the usual babble I hear about this subject. Or if you thoroughly enjoy both college and pro sports, voice your opinion on why you like them equally.

I'm very torn here. To me, there's nothing I like better than March Madness. Not even the Super Bowl can trump those opening two days. So much action going on, checking your brackets, watching for the upsets and cheering on your team. Nothing sweeter. however, college football just ends thigns for me. I love the regular season, but the way the postseason is set up just burns me every time. This is where pro ball takes the lead for me. The NFL playoff system is about as perfect as you can get. It comes down to one game, winner take all. How sweet does that sound? 60 minutes of hell, winner is World Champion. Both have great merits, but at the end I'll give the edge to pro football and college basketball.

I am of the following opinion: nationally, the only collegiate sports that are of the utmost importance are basketball and football. With respect to basketball, I am not a fan of the NBA but I love the NCAA (mainly because of March Madness). With respect to football, I am not a fan of college football but I love the NFL. The only time I remember following college football was during the 2005-2006 season, and this was only because of all the hype surrounding Reggie Bush. The reason why I don't follow college football is because the school I went to only had a second-rate football team. Had I gone to a school with a Division I football team, I am sure that this would not have been the case.
