The Idiot

Getting Noticed By Management
If anyone thinks these two guys can pull off a face vs face match like Rock/Cena did is out of their mind.

One guy clearly has to be heel, and theres no way it'll be Austin. The chances of this match happening has just gone up a notch in my book.

The hardest part now, is for Punk to stay heel until Mania.

Someone has got to explain to me this fascination and obsession people have with seeing Punk vs. Austin. Is it just the "I love beer" vs. "I'm straightedge" promos that people want to see that badly?

Took the words right out of my mouth. I just don't see the appeal of Punk vs. Austin. I have zero interest in that. Why is this such a dream match?

BECUZ PUNK IS ALL LIKE DUH ANTI-HERO AND STUFF. AND HE WORE DUH AUSTIN SHIRT WHEN HE DROPPED DUH PIPE BOMBZ.

Really...why is everyone so certain that Austin is going to get back in the ring? Dude hasn't been in the ring in 10 years, he's pretty old, and he's got some pretty big time medical issues on his plate. He's doing well financially...he doesn't need the payday, nor does he need to further handicap himself.

I think it's due to what Austin says in interviews.

He says he has one more match left in him, that if he needed the money wrestling would be an option to return to, that if he wrestles anybody he wants to wrestle CM Punk and the icing on the cake is, he has stated openly he'd prefer Punk to be "at his best," Punk as a heel is at his best; basically Austin kind of brings the spotlight onto himself.

As for the story behind it, I think they're comparable in certain ways, but the background would probably include the fact Punk's hero growing up was Steve Austin, or so he says in a couple ROH DVD's. Not to mention the t-shirt during the promo last summer, back and forth insults on Twitter, that sort of thing.

Personally, I don't know what the problem would be with an Austin/Punk face versus face match. Not sure that it's going to happen, but I do think it could go down with neither of the guys functioning as a heel.

I find it interesting that everyone assumes that because Punk did what he did it means a Heel turn, it could be just be Punk being Punk

It started when Punk was a heel. Why Punk vs. Austin (the mindset back then)? Punk was the WWE's best heel. I think that carried over into Punk as a face, and no one dropped the issue. Face Punk vs. face Austin doesn't interest me, never has.

It's more about Austin, less about Punk. People want one more match from Austin.

It's not. Not at all. However, it's the only heel (back then and as of now) who Austin has to work with. There's no one else.

Because the fans would turn on Punk. I'm 98% sure on that one.

Also, it wouldn't be as fun.

I don't see why people just can't accept that Austin's last match was against the Rock. As people have said earlier what build would Punk/Austin have besides "I'm straightedge you drink beer"? I'd much rather have a heel Punk take on Taker at Mania or have Rock vs Punk vs Cena for the WWE title.

Well, it probably has something to do with Austin being the most beloved superstar in WWE history. No, I didn't say most popular.... he's number two in that category.

I doubt it would be that simplistic. I'm sure they can figure out something less ******ed.

Triple Threat main events suck.

Hulk Hogan is also one of the most beloved superstars, doesn't mean he should keep having one on one matches.

I'd like to think so to, only time will tell.

Triple Threat main events suck.

If done and built right they're pretty awesome.

If Austin were to have another match I can't see WWE wasting him on Punk when they could pair him with a bigger draw.

Face Austin? SCSA in his prime was a Tweener, that is where Austin is at his best. He used heelish tactics to get over as a face. It wouldn't be a Face vs. Face match but a Face vs. Tweener one, I think some people forget how different Austin was during the Attitude era.

A heel Punk vs a Tweener Austin may actually be fun to watch. I like Punk's mic skills and in ring work, but mostly I think there could be some decent moments that could be had.

I think we got the extent of the drinking vs. straight-edge thing with Punk and Jericho earlier this year, and even that seemed tedious by the end of it.

I've always been against the idea of Punk vs. Austin (if Stone Cold were only to have 1 more match) in favour of giving Cena that honour instead. When you think about it, Cena's entire character and gimmick are much more of an antithesis to Austin than Punk's sobriety.

Aren't you the guy who finds Alberto Del Rio appealing?

Like literally the only guy?
