Chris Jericho and Matt Hardy Would Make a Great Midcarder in '09.

I was just watching Judgement Day few hours ago, and during the Mysterio/Jericho bout, I was thinking that if Jericho were to stay in the mid-card, would that bring the midcarders and it's title importance up?

I think it could definitely freshen things up and if Jericho were IC Champ for example, we could see some great feuds between them and just enough to really care about what happens with the IC champion. Jericho/ Morrison, Jericho/Kane, Jericho/Shelton, Jericho/ R-Truth etc. could all be great feuds.

As for Matt Hardy, although he's semi-mid-carder as it is, If he were to feud with the title besides MVP and have MVP step up the plate, I would enjoy that. Matt Hardy works well with most of the other superstars and could again, bring more attention to that title belt. It's barely defended on pay-per-view for crying out loud.

What are your thoughts on this?

I don't really like Matt Hardy, but meh. He's an over mid-carder who can pull a feud off. His feud with MVP was pretty good, or at least what I remember of it. I don't think MVP is over enough to be main event though, if that's what you're saying. Especially with that Playmaker finisher. He still uses that?!?!

I remember Jericho's matches with Kofi Kingston before Kofi's first Intercontinental Championship reign. They were good. Jericho can obviously work with the Mid-Carders, and it doesn't hurt that the Mid-Carders don't completely suck right now. Jericho could pull off a while in the mid-card, though I don't know if he needs the IC championship the entire time. I think it would work a lot better with Jericho feuding with the other mid-carders to prove that he is in fact better than they are. Maybe it's a sort of "I may have lost to Rey, but I'm still better than all of these guys" thing, or maybe Teddy Long can make him prove himself by beating these mid-carders in a series of matches/ppvs. While that's going on Mysterio can be having blow-off IC matches with the Mid-Carders who aren't busy to make it look like the IC title is actually busy.

As for Matt Hardy, sure. He, MVP, Kofi, and the other Mid-Carders I can't really remember right now should work out. Especially if Rhodes and Dibiase actually start competing as opposed to standing behind Orton looking extremely angry. If you want him to be the US champ, I don't know how Hardy does as a Heel Champ. Give it to him, see how he runs with it. If he can't, place it on MVP as one final test before he makes the jump to Main Event. I don't think MVP's ready, but a good US Title reign (that actually ends in a sizable pop from the crowd on a regular basis) would shut me up.

Alot of skilled enertainers..... lack of time to show them all!
I wouldn't be surprized to see some people jump from sd! to raw or ecw this year!

The WWE has to let God(alal Triple H) have at least 30 mins of promo time each and every show!


But on a more serious note, they should just scrap the diva matches. They arnt entertaining, least not as much as TNA's old womens division. I like to see rasslin, not some blonde bimbo who is knocking off Undertaker on the side on tv everyweek!

Rey is a top baby face. Rey can also move between main-event and high-midcard. I like Matt Hardy, but a feud with Jericho would hold Jericho back. SORRY!!!!! Like I said, I like a Hardy, and I think one day he could be world champ. Hey, he was ECW Champion!!! That was a big step for him!!!!

I think you misunderstood me in some parts. I meant for Jericho to be the top person in the mid-card hunt for SmackDown and for Matt Hardy on Raw. A Jericho/Hardy feud wouldn't work it since they're on different brands.

Also, If Jericho were to be top mid-card and stay out of the title hunt for WHC for months, not only will he elevate the other mid-carders while feuding with them, it's not hard for Jericho to go back into the main-event. Rey Mysterio could work also, but not as effective imo.

I think this could help WWE in the long run, so when their top performers retire, they've already got started on bringing new ones in easily, with hardly any difficulties.

The great thing about Jericho is that he's the exact opposite of his on air character. The guy has no ego. He always wants to work with the most talented wrestlers and not necessarily the top draws. He cares about having great matches far more than he does padding his resume. He'll feud with a guy and volunteer to lose every single match because he knows that despite how poor his record looks as long as he has a great match that both he and his opponent will look like one million dollars.

That's why Jericho has eight and most likely soon to be nine IC title reigns to his name. If he needs to drop down the card from time to time then he has no problem doing that. That being said, the guy deserves a nice half a year run with a title. I thought he was going to do that last year as a thank you for the amazing feud with HBK yet instead he got his legs chopped out from underneath him first by DAVE and then by Cena because heaven forbid we go into Wrestlemania season with the title firmly around John's waist.

At this point I just want to see at least 2-3 PPV matches with Jericho against anyone important on the SD! roster. Edge, Punk, Rey, Morrison, etc. they all need to feud with Jericho. This is the career renaissance that he's been looking for. No more jobbing to the big name RAW guys and no more pointless feuds with JBL.

Now Matt Hardy on the other hand is at a good upper midcard place right now but he's the one that also needs to boost. If he is ever to be taken seriously as a WWE title challenger he needs a lengthy U.S. title reign and lots of good, interesting challengers. MVP will get pushed. If he's healthy so will Kennedy. Matt is the one that we're unsure on. This is the closest the guy has ever been to being a big time player. So being a midcarder right now is fine but he simply can't stagnate once again. He's got a new look. Now maybe he should cut the hair and get new music. If Jeff Hardy is leaving the company maybe a Matt vs. Jeff loser leaves the WWE match on the upcoming three hour RAW where Matt wins would be a step in the right direction.
