from the way last nights draft went it looks like to me that benoits gettin the title
i hope this isnt wishfull thinkin cause benoit could do wonders for ecw as the man at the top and give the tittle some well needed legitimacy

when will ppl realize that ecw sucks no matter who is on the roster it will never be the original and them rarely having a hardcore match takes the extreme out of ecw there is no point of even having it bring back wcw

man it doesnt seem like day r trying to revive the old ecw at all, its merely a brand extension of the wwe plus id rather it this way because it would ensure the longevity of the wrestlers

I certainly see him getting the title. He's the only real choice. Punk would be a good option but I doubt they would put the title on him. Burke isn't ready yet and Cor Von isn't that over. So he's the only real choice. Although the draft isn't finished yet. I doubt there will be any more big stars moving but you never know. Him going to ECW is a better option than him going to Raw, He'd just get lost in the shuffle. Which is what will happen to Booker.

Seriously, I see Benoit winning the title as well. This will be entertaining to watch, and hopefully he will get to put over guys like Burke, Punk and Cor Von in main event feuds, and maybe in 6 months or so they will all be ready to win the title. I just hope they don't go and push the Boogeyman... Seriously the Boogeyman ECW World Champion... WTF ? I can see it happening, they made a big deal about him being drafted...

I loved Punks reaction. He's a terrible actor. It would suck but a Boogeyman/Benoit feud would be kind of interesting.

I see them having a tornament. They may as well. It's not like there's anything better happeneing on ECW TV.

yea two matches a night, maybe 3 and by Vengeance they'll be a new crowning of the ECW Champion. I'm hoping to see a Benoit/Punk match. A match of respect and honor for the ECW Championship, now that brings some credibility to the championship.

Maybe it's far-fetched, but I say do another Extreme Elimination Chamber. Put Tommy Dreamer, Sandman, Marcus Cor Von, C.M. Punk, Elijah Burke, and Chris Benoit and crown a new champ that way! Could you imagine the quality of match we would get with Benoit vs. C.M. Punk for the ECW title?!

I have NOT been a fan of WWE's version of ECW since Heyman left (I was an old school fan with Raven, Shane Douglas and Taz was an unstoppable suplex machine) but with the chance that Marcus Cor Von (WHY CAN'T HE BE CALLED MONTY BROWN?! WHAT IS HIS REAL NAME?!) getting a push, Elijah Burke getting better every match, and the chance for more with the draft on Wednesday, at least the qualty of match will improve.

Also, I know people don't like the thought of The Boogeyman, and his gimmick is a little hokey BUT the guy's aggresive and unorthodox style is PERFECT for WWE/ECW. He's majorly over with the fans, he'll bring some interesting feuds (Vampire vs. Nightstalker aka Kevin Thorn vs. Boogeyman), and he'll at least be something different instead of the midget fest we got with Finlay.

Benoit and Punk are the only wrestlers that still have the passion and the style that made the original ECW so special. Seeing as the WWE should really be keeping the focus off originals - considering that they're leaving as soon as they can now that RVD, the brick that was holding them all in place, has gone - I think Punk should definitely be given the belt. Hell, the man's a former ROH champion, he's more than good enough to hold the WWECW title!

I see Benoit winning the title at Vengeance. I think they might do an elimination chamber at Vengeance. This would give credibility to benoit as champ because he would have to go through five other competitors to get the title. Benoit would bring some crediblity to the ecw title.

I doubt they would do an Elimination Chamber. The last one was only a few months ago. And they only had one then because they knew nobody would see an WWECW brand only PPV. With the PPV's now being tri-brand there would be no need. The WWE Championship main event is also a big enough match to get buy rates. I expect a short 8 man tornament.

Well, they have 2 weeks to crown a new champion since Vengeance is the Night of Champions. Tournament? I'm not sure.... there's that invitational match or whatever it is on RAW, so the concepts might be too similar depending on how they want to go with that one. Maybe a good option would be to have Burke lay claim to the title only to have Benoit come out and challenge him for it. You really don't have to go any further than that. ECW has enough talent to build good championship feuds for a while now, they don't necessarily have to do a tournament.

Edit: Nevermind about questioning the RAW main event, I was watching RAW on tape before announced the invitational main event when i wrote this. I stand my ground regardless.

This is actually a damn good move I think on the WWE's part. Hopefully, and I stress hopefully, Chris Benoit gets that strap and is finally given the ball to run with. His title run in 2004 was horseshit by the WWE. He was put to the side when he was hot as hell, so Triple H and HBK could have the spotlight. He may get the recognition he so deservedly deserves.

This is also good because it puts a company guy that is going to teach a lot of the young guns in ECW a thing or two about wrestling. Sure, they have a lot of the basic skills done, but Chris Benoit is going to fine tune these guys for the next level. I see this more of a Dusty Rhodes move then anything. Hayes doesn't like Benoit, Rhodes does, it's that simple.

I see no situation right now that doesn't involve Benoit getting the ECW title, and a good long reign. No one on ECW right now is capable of handling that title yet. I think CM Punk benefits the most out of this though. Here is a guy with a lot of Raw talent, but still needs fine tuning. A good long feud with Benoit will take Punk to the next level in my eyes. I'll put my ROH flame shield on now, but there was no one in ROH that can touch Chris Benoit in that ring. CM Punk has never been in the ring with a guy like Benoit. Benoit will bring out Punks next level, and rightfully hand the strap to him. Good move by the WWE on this one.

as stated by all benoit is going to get the belt. there is no one thats ready although like said before there are a few that will be ready with the right fueds and push. i completly agree with shocker that cm punk would benefit so much from benoit. i think they should have benoit go heel have little fued with like dreamer or something and just have punk kinda show up almost like hes watching benoit till benoit snaps and challenges punk then have them have a long awesome fued

I definitely agree that benoit is going to get the title. I also think that he should revert back to his old Crippler gimmick that he had back when he was in ECW. As far as more drafts coming in to ECW, I would love to see Jamie Noble drafted as well and perhaps London & Kendrick to kick off the rumored ECW tag titles.

Benoit is definitely going to be the next ECW Champ and I think that he will bring Elijah Burke, Marcus Cor Von, and CM Punk to the next level and get them recognized by the WWE fans. Benoit will help bring honor back to this title and he will also bring this entire brand respect.

I think they'll do a 4 way match at vengeance with punk vs benoit vs burke vs cor von . so really i think that burkes gonna come out on top , cheating or otherwise and then they'll have benoit and punk on his heels for a while and they can also build up cor von in a "where does his loyalty lie?" kinda storyline.

if they go with the 4 way dance i think i would be pretty cool to see burke take the title but only for like a couple weeks. the reason for this is then they should have benoit take the title away from after burke cheats a couple times. start a fued with benoit - punk with burke just on the outside of the storyline, have him complain all the time about not gettin his rematch and in the mean time have him go on a big winning streak to get him the credibility and have him kinda like obsess over the title then have a 3 way fued with benoit punk and burke

This could be the saving grace of WWECW. With a Benoit/ Punk fued happening (hopefull concluding at Mania 08) and a returning Y2J to throw in the mix, I see nothing but promise for WWECW. Thats if Y2J goes to the ECW brand. Bring back the ECW Tag Team/ TV titles to actually make it on the same level as Raw and Smackdown. Maybe even a Hardcore Title to balance the Cruiserweight and Womens Division on the other two brands. Just an idea.

i think everyone is right and beniot should be champ and regarding the tv and tag titles i recently read on a wrestling website that the wwe had the belts made and that paul heyman has been mentioned around the backstage area ... so expect him back soon
