LEGENDARY GUERRERO WRESTLING FAMILY’S CHAVO GUERRERO, JR INKS DEAL WITH TNA IMPACT WRESTLING
Third generation wrestling standout to debut in the ring Thursday, July 26, live on SPIKE TV!

TNA IMPACT WRESTLING’s President Dixie Carter announced the signing of Chavo Guerrero, Jr. via twitter. He will make his IMPACT WRESLTING debut on Thursday, July 26 on SPIKE TV. This signing means that two members of the legendary Guerrero family are part of the TNA family; as Chavo is the nephew of TNA commentator Hector Guerrero. Tune in Thursdays at 8:00pm ET to catch IMPACT WRESTLING live on Spike TV.

Hailing from one of the more storied and successful families in the pro wrestling arena, the Guerrero family has racked up more championship titles and accolades than anyone. He is the son of Chavo, Sr. and his grandfather and patriarch of the Guerrero family, the late Gory Guerrero, is still one of the most famous wrestlers in Mexico.

Having competed all over the world for various promotions, Chavo has won a number of championship gold, including a tag-team gold with his late uncle Eddie Guerrero. Prior to signing with TNA, he appeared on the highly successful ratings giant Ring Ka King in India.

As far as I'm concerned, Chavo to TNA was only a matter of time, as will be Chris Masters, as both men have reportedly impressed management quite a bit with their work in Ring Ka King.

The key here for me isn't with him coming in, it's why and how he'll be used. Chavo is on his worst day still a tremendous in-ring competitor who does have some name value and a legendary last name, but he doesn't have either in a sense that he should be penned as the next World Heavyweight champion. If his role is right, I don't see how adding a great worker is a bad thing.

I just made a spam version of this about a minute ago.

I personally think (and hope) that he'll be brought in to help the X-Division. As a luchadore competitor he can help the guys work better inside the ring and also put them over.

While Chavo was never the best when it came to gimmicks (Eddie was better) he didn't do a bad job (Kerwin White) so he can certainly help some of the X-Divsion guys gain a personality.

Ehhh never really cared for Chavo and I don't think he will be able to contribute much other than another body in the X Division. Still I guess that's not a bad thing. That video makes me think he'll be brought in strong though... but it's not like he's gonna dethrone Zema so soon...or is he? Well it's got me curious. I'll keep an open mind!

I've always thought that Chavo was underutilized in WCW and WWE. He is a great in-ring talent who could be a great champion if given the right opportunity. This is one of the more intelligent hires from WWE that Dixie Carter has made. I just hope he is used to full potential and not stuck jobbing to Devon.

I've been waiting on Chavo To be added to TNA for some time now, especially after his stint with Ring Ka King. While I was never a fan of him per se, but he is a talented performer in his own right. Sometimes I think he isn't held in high regard because he is compared to Eddie, Chavo Sr, and Gory. I'll agree that he won't be a main event player, but this could be good for the X division and could be a viable contender for the TV title. I'm all for it.

Maybe he will team up with Hernandez and create a new type of LAX. He could be the perfect mouthpiece to get Hernandez over.

There's you're very soon to be X Division Champion.

That's an... interesting idea. Even though he's a decent worker, a former ECW champion, tag team champion and so on and so forth, I don't think he's actually got that much stock. I'd rather they follow through with the impending Sorensen/Ion feud than have Chavo derail it.

Maybe he will team up with Hernandez and create a new type of LAX. He could be the perfect mouthpiece to get Hernandez over.

I think you, I and everyone else who loved LAX are just going to have to get over it. No more reunions and no more third rate imitations.

I had a feeling that Chavo was going to appear on Impact Wrestling one day since he appeared on Ring Ka King. Chavo had a decent run in Ring Ka King, so I hope he'll have a good run on Impact as well.

He's 41 now and 42 in October. Chavo can still go, but this isn't a big signing. As IDR said, there's nothing bad about signing a talented guy and Chavo certainly is that, but he's going to be in the midcard and that's it. For clarification: that's perfectly fine and there's nothing bad about this signing if they got him cheap.

It was just a matter of time for this to happen considering some "shots" he took at Cena and the WWE on Twitter after he was released.

Chavo Guerrero is an excellent in ring worker. He knows how to find chemistry with any opponnent and how to tell a story. Many believe that he will be another addition in the X-Division, but I doubt that. Some years ago he had a decent run a the ECW Champion. I'm not saying that he should be given the TNA Championship. Aries, Joe, Storm and Roode are on the line for that.

If booked correctly TNA can make something interesting out of him, not only in the X-Divison, but also in the upper midcard scene. Over the years, TNA has managed to take "failed" single competitors from the WWE and turned them into compelling stars. I'm talking about Matt Morgan, Bully Ray, AJ Styles and many other. I believe that Chavo is the next one on the line.

Let's not forget that Chavo is a Guerrero, a member of one of the greatest wrestling families in wrestling. It should be a honour for both TNA and it's fans to have a Guerrero on their show.

Now Chavo is coming from WWE's leftovers. That can turn out to be good or bad. But I believe that Chavo can make it in high levels at TNA. For me, that's another strong addition to the roster. He can be a very interesting heel.

He's perfect for putting over TNA's younger guys and bringing some added credibility to an X Division that is being rebuilt. As long as they keep him limited to that and don't try and make him anything greater than what he is.

it will be nice to see chavo again. i liked him when he was with wcw but when he joined wwe i did not find him as entertaining in the ring anymore. not saying that its his fault just that other then ray mysterio wwe don't realy do anything with smaller guys. but i'm sure he will thrive in the x division.

This is good news. I like Chavo and have been waiting for him to come to TNA. But why don't they ever keep these things a secret, especially now with Impact being live right now. It would have been a really nice surprise to see him debut without knowing about it. I guess they want more and more people to tune in, so they announce these things, oh well. I'll be looking forward to seeing him. :)

My questions is, will TNA put the World Title on Chavo? They tend to do that when WWE talents jump ship (Raven, Rhyno, Hardy, Christian, Angle, RVD)

I feel that overall Chavo can help the X Division a ton and a half. Chavo can still go so we could see some good feuds with him involved also.

I agree with IDR in that it's not really a big deal of Chavo joining but rather how TNA intends to use him once he gets there. I don't believe that Chavo is main event material, I've just never really seen it. He's entertaining to watch inside the ring, no doubt, and can be of use. It's never a bad thing to have guys who can wrestle well as part of your roster.

I can see Chavo being part of the X Division and lending some name recognition there without completely overshadowing other X Division wrestlers. While he might be a Guerrero, he's kind of the runt of the litter when it comes to accomplishments & star power. He's had the huge career that Eddie Guerrero had or the dominant one his father had back in the day. I can also see Guerrero being part of the tag team scene, maybe going after the TV title at some point.

He might surprise us all and show that he can be a main eventer, but I won't be holding my breath on that. Chavo is a very solid mid-card wrestler and that's probably where he'll fit in the best.

If they use him for anything other than putting over X Division guys, then this is noting but anoter former WWE guy who TNA signs because he's former WWE guy. Chavo is good, and can be entertaining. He isn't nor should he ever be a main event guy. If his last name wasn't Guerrero, he would be another fairly talented forgotten guy.

Chavo's a good sign, he's older now and not exactly gonna be storming TNA but he's a very solid skilled performer who could do some good things there. Obviously he would be a great guy to throw into the X-Division or Tag Team mix, I could see him holding titles in either division but most I expect him to put over the Zema Ion's and the Jesse Sorenson's when he returns. It really was just a matter of time before he got signed after he parted ways with the WWE, he's got a lot to offer to TNA and utilized properly he can do great things.

I like this signing. He could help the X division and help put over some of the younger guys. Like Kid Kash but have Chavo be face and help put over the heel stars of the X division.

Not a huge fan. Unless he has been holding back with what he is capable of, I expect they will make him a dominate heel in the X-Division or have him tag up with someone to add to that division. He never had much credibility in singles competition outside the lighter weight classes and I don't think they can still get much push out of his relation to Eddie or the Guerrero family name. It's already been done to death (pun not intended).

My feelings about Chavo are torn.

On one hand is the wrestling purist. This side of me feels Chavo's value should be based on his abilities as a talented in-ring performer hailing from a legendary family. To this end, Chavo could easily add spice to the TNA X-Division, provide young, rising talent a veteran to hone their skills against, gain credibility by feuding with and an example to learn from in terms of telling a story through in-ring and character development. Chavo is rather outstanding with all of these. In this light, Chavo is an excellent investment!

On the other hand is the wrestling realist. This part of me if forced to acknowledge that, to many in the viewing audience, Chavo became a complete jobber -- not even a "glorified jobber," as many like to say -- during his last days in WWE. Most of these viewers know little more than the laundry list of people who defeated Chavo, week-in and week-out, throughout his tenure with the competing company.

This sets up an interesting challenge for TNA. To bring Chavo in and give him any kind of sustained push at the expense of homegrown talent only reinforces the idea that even WWE's lowest-of-the-totem-pole can defeat TNA's best. It's a hard place for a talent like Chavo to be in, but -- if used wisely -- it could provide the basis for an incredible story. Were I to book Chavo's entry into TNA, he would come in as a "legend." Rather than being treated as such by TNA X-Division, I would have nobody take him too seriously... because of what they've seen of him in other federations.

Outraged by the disrespect, a Guerrero would begin climbing the ladder to regain his standing in the wrestling world, specifically in TNA, and to cement his legacy in the industry. A questionable past would soon become the foundation of a great push, allowing Guerrero to work a great series of matches against the X-Division's best, and build all parties involved simultaneously.

Inserting Guerrero into the tag division, alongside Hernandez as mentioned, would also be an amazing idea. Hernandez is an incredible competitor, primed for a push of his own, but he seems to fail just short of getting over. Chavo might be just the cure for this -- and give him the Guerrero rub along the way.

The WORST case, in my opinion, would be to bring Chavo in & insert him anywhere near the main event. Though remarkably talented, and with wide-spread name recognition, he most definitely does not have a track-record to merit this. It would be a misstep which would not only derail any opportunity he might have for growth, it would also make a mockery of any talent currently established in what has become an extremely competitive and very hot championship scene.

If TNA build him up with videoes and the commentary do their job talking about all his accolades and championships he has won all over the world, and of course push his family name, he could make an impact early on. I'm not sure about his longevity in keeping it going, but in terms of coming in, he could be the opposite of what Kid Kash was in his feud with Sorrenson and be the babyface veteran saying that Ion is disrespectful and feud with him over the title, and Chavo can put over Ion well.

Chavo can also put over the X Div in his promos saying that he is very impressed by it, and that he always wanted to be apart of it etc. He has the chops to elevate certain aspects of TNA which is a good thing. Also although not big ppv matches, he could put on some great tv matches with guys like Kaz, AJ, Daniels, Ion, etc.

Chavo has always been a great wrestler. no disrespect but he would always be outshined by eddie and Mysterio. hopefully they use him correctly. and maybe start a gimmick simillar to Kerwin White lol!

Chavo Guerrero and Sonjay Dutt could potentially have the best match of the night if they wrestle..Another good combination would be Aries and Guerrero
