Champ Returns Tonight On Raw

This thread contains spoilers for tonight's Raw, which are okay to post as long as they're spoilers not from a taped show. At any rate, don't read if you don't wanna know what's up.


According to WWE, Daniel Bryan will be appearing on tonight's episode of Raw. The most obvious speculation is that he's going to vacate the Intercontinental Championship, which is quite probable. I think there's also a possibility of Bryan announcing that he's retiring from in-ring competition. If he's returning to compete, it could come as a surprise or possibly not; it's hard to say because, after all, we still don't know the nature of the injury that's kept him out for about a month. It could be complications from his neck or something else altogether, which he'll almost certainly comment on.

I think he will probably just come out and mostly just promote Tough Enough. Maybe vacate the title but retirement seems unlikely.

WWE been on their site, speculating the vacation of title could be imminent. They also speculated whether if the Authority can play a hand in it. So its just been a mystery for right now.

WWE certainly can bring up surprises. We've witnessed a lot lately that the creative still got their head filled up with stuffs. I'm not so much excited about it just because I don't wanna hear the news that Daniel Bryan is gonna retire from professional Wrestling..

I would hope for it in the sense of his health but still on the other hand I want to see more of him in the ring.. Let's wait for 6 more hours to witness what's next for the American Dragon Bryan Danielson..

Who wants to bet that Bryan gets a good amount of boos tonight? Don't know why I have this hunch but I feel it coming tonight... just seems like WWE is starting to pass him by at this point.

Anyway, if he vacates the title, that's all good with me. I'd like to see the IC title back in the WWE landscape and up for grabs at the PPV. If he's coming back to compete, even better. I don't see Bryan retiring right now. At least not without TRYING to fix his health first.

As a fan of DBry I hope he comes out, gives a speech about his neck, announces he is getting surgery, and then vacates the title. You look at names like Austin and Angle, and to a lesser extent Edge, they all had neck issues that they were able to get surgery and extend their careers. Hopefully Bryan is able to do the same.

Whatever happens, whether he comes back or not, Daniel Bryan showed tonight he's a class act.

There was no fuss and bother, just said what he wanted to say, and that was to thank the fans who have supported him all this time. I hope he gets the medical help he needs, and takes the time off to properly heal. If he does come back the fans will welcome him with open arms, like they always do.

Agreed, and it was a refreshing change from the sob-fest I thought might be in store. It was real because I imagine it truly isn't yet known what the surgery will involve and how long he would need to be out of action. Daniel said nothing about that, probably because it isn't yet known.

After all, Edge's doctors advised him to never return to the ring since the nature of neurological damage was nothing to fool with. With Daniel, since the surgical procedure used months ago obviously didn't accomplish what they hoped, who's to say whether he would be faced with the same prognosis as Edge?

Daniel handled last night with class and didn't overdo the emotion. The fans were as excited to see him as if he hadn't performed just a few weeks ago. Mission accomplished.

CAVEAT: If he returns to the ring in a month, apparently convinced that: "You can't do any more harm by wrestling...as long as you can stand the pain, go ahead" I hope to hell he realizes how much he's staking his life & health on might amount to a shot in the dark.
