Cena Leaves WWE: What If?

Occasional Pre-Show
Say John Cena just suddenly decided to quit wrestling. Walked out. Took his "ball", and went home.

Would he be successful if he tried to get into show business? Would he end up as a B-List Celeb talking about Madonna in the '80's on VH1?

How would WWE cope with losing the most successful Pro Wrestler/Entertainer of the last five or six years? Who would take his place, if anybody?

I think there would be a pretty large sized chance he'd make it ok. It's not like he hasn't been paid well recently. He wouldn't have to ever work a 9 to 5 job again, thats for sure.

WWE would suffer for awhile, (ratings, etc) then make a comeback like they always have. (Ex; The Rock, Austin, Bret Hart leaving the company)

I'd say he would still be successful, whether he decides to go to Hollywood and film some movies. If Hollywood didn't work out my guess is that he would eventually find something that would work out.

Now as far as how much the WWE would suffer, I guess they would suffer for a small amount of time. They might not make as much from merchandise sells as they normally would with him around and as far as ratings I think they wouldn't change to much. Anyways, they would eventually find someone that replaces him.

This is probably every Cena hater's wet dream, but I don't see it happening unless he was forced to retire because of a career ending injury and even then I think he would still try and come back like Ric Flair did when he broke his back and like Shawn Michaels did.

After all the things that John Cena has said pertaining to The Rock and to the business about how he loves it and would never do what Dwayne did, if he ever were to go back on his word and leave, fans would loathe him. It'd be a much bigger deal than when The Rock left, not because John Cena is a bigger star than The Rock is, but because he's said all of these things. I love John Cena. This would be a tough pill to swallow.

His acting career, in my mind, would be mediocre. I believe that John Cena is talented, but there is just this stigma around all things professional wrestling. The Rock got out before that really became an issue, but it still affects his career. I don't think John Cena would be able to land any major roles for a long time. He'd likely start in a few kid's movies, for example, The Pacifier or Daddy Day Care and do a couple of straight to DVD action movies. Eventually, he may find a gem, but he'd have to work his butt off. If he gets the opportunity to shine, then he could take the ball, run with it, and never look back. I don't think he'd be an A-List celebrity, but if it were to be anyone in the WWE, it'd be John Cena.

Side Note: I think John Cena would have to shed a lot of muscle before he begins a serious acting career. He's simply too massive.

As for the WWE, it'd survive. Stone Cold took his ball and went home for a year, The Rock left to act, Brock Lesnar pursued football, and Hulk Hogan went to WCW. (Okay, fine... They almost died there...) It'd be tough to fill that gap that Cena would leave. But, you've got up and comers in John Morrison, CM Punk, and Matt Hardy. It'd have to be a collective effort, but I think they could help stop the bleeding. Of course, it'd also depend on when John Cena left. If he left around the time that Undertaker, Big Show, Kane, and Shawn Michaels will likely retire, then you better have a couple somebodies waiting on the sideline, ready to put that helmet on and get in the game or you're going to have serious issues.

Really, though, I don't think John Cena would ever leave wrestling for a career in acting or football or for TNA. He loves this company more than anyone I've seen in a long time.

If John Cena left the WWE i think the ratings would go down for awhile but they would eventually when someone came and steped up to the plate and took the role of becoming the face of the company. If Cena left everyone would b pissed because of how he critized the rock and how he left. So it would be bad for his career and if he ever came back. It'd b bad for the company kause noone would like him as much as they do now. Me im not a fan of john cena only because he has like 3 moves than does his finisher. But the main guys that could carry the company through that rough patch would be randy orten or rey mysterio. Possibly John Morrison, The Miz, or Edge. But i think the wwe could still get good ratings even without cena.

I think after awhile you will see John Cena leave WWE, but not for acting. I think he will sign with TNA once they grow. Think I'm crazy, thats ok, cuz, if you think about it, Cena always says he is a wrestling fan. Which means he thinks like a fan. He knows after a while he will get bored with the same old fueds. He could stay and help pave the way with the new guys, but WWE isn't the same. There isnt that passion there. Like him or not he does love wrestling. If he went to TNA in the next few years he could change that company. He would have to change his thuggy/gangsta gimmick to a no bullshit ass kicker. If Samoa Joe doent ever join WWE, he and Cena would draw huge numbers. John Cena and Kurt Angel in TNA would be nuts, knowing Angel was the man he had his first match with in WWE. They could have Foley or Jerrett tell Angel he will face a mystery oppenent at Slammiversary or another big PPV and have it be Cena. I think Cena brings numbers and going to TNA might be better for him, he fights the same few guys and beat them all. How many times can he beat HBK, Triple H, Randy Orton, Edge and everyone else. John Cena and AJ Styles would also be some good stuff. Sting and John Cena good go down as a classic. John Cena would have to adapt to the six sided ring. Well it just a thought, but if he was smart he would take less money from TNA to be the man over their and help them rise to WWE number, cuz it would pay off in the long run. It could be the Babe Ruth of wrestling. Post comments on my message if you care to.

I would be sitting on my toliet mourning john cena lol.....crying cause of the laughter if he just left WWE....will rating drop yea...but all u need to fix that is turn Orton a Face and the lil girls will want to excuss my language F*** him......the lil kids would still have rey...so there would be a lil drop there but not much and the regular joe would still tune in no matter wat. AS for cena acting career.....sorry i had to laugh there a sec...maybe we get more classics like maybe the marine 2! Makes me wat to poke my eyes out just hearing it....cena would be on i love the watever decade on vh1. oh and dont forget he could drop another dope rap album lol.....oh god i pray the day lil wayne rap battle him or better yet eminem puts him in a song and mocks him in a video....as for who would take over his place i would say MVP...surprisingly no one has said his name..

What would happen? Nothing would happen, he would just be replaced by someone else. WWE continues when he's hurt and not on TV for months. WWE survived the loss of Hogan and Austin and Cena simply is not on the popularity level of those guys. He is not a mainstream star and likely wouldn't do well in Hollywood, every role I've seen him in is absolutely terrible. Sure he sometimes has little things that cross over into pop culture but for the most part, he's just a wrestler. WWE would be fine if he left. John Cena is just not as popular as WWE and some fans would like him to be.

If Cena left, the show will go on. One monkey don't stop the show. I do think we will have Cripple H shoved down our throats even more.

If Cena were to ever leave it would have just about the same impact of when Hulk Hogan when he left WWF. Then he would have to go to Disney World and with Gene Okerland interviewing him would sign a contract with WCW errrr I mean TNA. Then when he goes to TNA he'll win the championship once. Then he'll realize that the fans don't like him. He's going to take a break until the main event mafia says they have a mystery partner in a special tag team match against Sting Macho Man Randy Savage and Lex Luger for that matters. Ends up Cena comes out to only Leg Drop errrr I mean FU Lex Luger to hell and the fans proceed to throw garbage at them. Gene Okerland ends up interviewing them telling them how disgusted he is, and in the process he gets nicked by flying garbage and created a mini cut. I see it coming!

If Cena left WWE, they would get along just fine without him. I think WWE as at the point now where if they really want to, they can push someone high enough to replace any of the main event stars. If you really look at it, Jeff Hardy can handle the spotlight and is so over, it's ridiculous. The only reason why he hasn't stayed up there too long is because of people like Cena, HHH and Edge who hog all the show. Now, if Cena left and joined TNA, I think that's where WWE might hurt a little. Depending on how Cena is utilized in TNA, Cena could make some fans turn their heads and go, "ok, let me see what's goin on in TNA!" Then maybe TNA could actually compete with WWE.

John Cena leaving WWE wouldn't be too traumatic. His move set consists of 6 moves. His ring entrance is lame. He's character is too serious now. He used to be a funny ass dude, like when he was messing with Booker T and Sharmell. That was classic lol

Now? It seems like he's just some brainwashed wrestler, who doesn't care to innovate, just goes in the ring and does his thing and leaves.

Back to the real question. John Cena leaving wouldn't really hurt the ratings. They weren't really down when he left to do his movies. There's always somebody waiting to step up and get there chance.

I know it sounds like I'm a John Cena hater, but really I'm a fan. I enjoyed the old John Cena, the freestyle John Cena.

I don't think it would be the end of the world if he just gave up wrestling. It would have an impact, but they would survive. Now if he went to TNA, that would be amazing. Not only would it put TNA on the map, it also would make WWE a better product. They would actually would have to try, because wou know the kids would follow Cena wherever he went.

Nothing much would happen!
WWE will find some one else! And they have a HUGE roster to do so! A lot of big names left but they always found a way to stay alive! And for his Hollywood stint I doubt he'll make it big there! Hes an over-rated douche who can't act for shit! Ohh and the Cena Haters like me would throw a HUGE ass party and believe in god once again!

The current plan of making new, young stars would simply be sped up a bit.
There's a Cena currently in the next generation of main eventers. A Lesnar, an Austin, a HBK, a Bret Hart etc etc... A face of the company
One wrestler who's currently in the midcard and is not long from getting a midcard push will be more successful than the other wrestlers who enter the main event scene. One who will be more over, sell more merch and win more titles than the others.
We don't know who it is yet... Could be Punk, MVP, Morrison, hell it could be TBK for all we know.

If Cena left, WWE would make it their top objective to find the next Cena. To find the next larger than life star.
The main event scene would still be ok, as it is now.
The only thing that would be noticable would be WWE taking turns pushing midcarders like crazy to find the man who will be the next face of the company. And to be honest, I think that would be quite entertaining.

So yeah, Cena leaving now woudn't be that big of a deal. It wouldn't be like Austin walking out in 1998 or anything. WWE would be fine.

You know as much as I dislike Cena, I think that it would be an incredible loss for WWE and their Mainstream coverage, I mean look at the Lakers/Nuggets Game, John Cena was sat at the game with the Executive Vice Chairman or whatever of WWE. He is THE Golden boy.
To be honest, the old phrase goes; "Nobody is irreplaceable." I mean they managed to replace Brock Lesnar, with Cena. Bobby Lashley was replaced somewhat by CM Punk in my view. In my mind, someone else would just step up, I think most likely Jeff Hardy. Even if he had left, WWE would offer him lots more money to return and be WWE's biggest face. That or John Morrison, MVP or CM Punk. He'll it could just be the next guy from FCW they want to be big, or Vince sights. Who knows? But no one is irreplaceable.

In my view, Cena would recover quickly, WWE won't.

Cena could go to TNA no problem, and make them much more of a threat to the WWE then they are now. If they had Cena, they could make a stable that is filled with Ex-WWE superstars and crack jokes or sumthing, and maybe make Vince bring TNA to attention when it gets higher ratings than Raw & Smackdown.

WWE would not recover, or at least it would take a while for them to. It would really depend on when he left. If he were to leave tomorrow, then they would be really screwed. Nobody on that roster would have enough Hype to replace him. Jeff Hardy would be a good idea, however, if he choses to leave, then he wouldnt work. Rey is not coming back to the ME Picture PERIOD. Batista, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, and Kane are leaving. So that leaves the only main event Face in the company as Triple H.....JOY. Of course they would push the mid-card faces like CM Punk, MVP, John Morrison, but damage would have already been done, especially if Cena joined TNA.

Cena would be a totally different situation than when Austin and Hogan left, and HBK got injured. Austin got frustrated with management with his career, and his aging injuries, while Hogan left after an Highly-Publicized Court Case to take hype off. Shawn left cause of injuries. If Cena left similar to the Rock, then they would have a huge problem on their hands. Unlike Hogan, Shawns, and Austin's departures, they would have absolutly nobody that would be able to take the place of Cena for a while. I mean Hogan had Bret. Shawn had Austin, and Austin had a returning Shawn Michaels & Triple H. Who would Cena have.......um..........MVP. Cena would need to anounce that he would leave a year from now for any plans of the WWE recoverly to be made.

it'd also depend on when John Cena left. If he left around the time that Undertaker, Big Show, Kane, and Shawn Michaels will likely retire, then you better have a couple somebodies waiting on the sideline, ready to put that helmet on and get in the game or you're going to have serious issues.

This is important.....one monkey don't stop no show.....but 5 would. If in the span of 1 year WWE lost 5 of their top talent (who also hit different demographics of watchers [from vets-2-kids-2-people who like watching large brusiers]) would be PAINFUL. It wouldn't kill, but WWE would have to build the upper-mid card quick to continue at the current pace (Punk,MVP,Jericho,Christian, both Hardys), to me that would equal major setback and a change to WWE completely (good or bad? idk)

I think John Cena threatening to quit the business would make an awesome heel turn. Have him one night (when he isnt as strong as he is now iwth the fans but still really strong) walk out and say he's quitting the WWE because he's sick of entertaining the fans and that he's going hollywood. Have him mingle with as A list of stars as WWE can get to cooperate about doing a movie and get the creative department to make a make belief story for a movie featuring these stars that cooperate with the WWE and create a trailer for it and broadcast it on TV. Then have John Cena return to TV and tease a title match with whatever heel holds the belt and just before the match starts have John Cena get on the mic and tell the fans the match isnt happening because he's too good for the WWE fans and walk out thus infuriating the fans. Then some face objects and tries to get Cena to return only to ahve him get into the ring then do the same stunt two more times. It all ends with a match at Wrestlemania where a mega heel John Cena gets beaten up thus completing a great heel turn.

He would never! And as a Cena fan, I would be devastated. If I were a parent buying my child all that Cena merchandise though, I'd be more than overjoyed, haha.

If he did though, it depends. If he left after putting over a few superstars to fill his spot, then WWE should recover quite nicely. Especially if HBK and Taker are there to help build them up even more before they retire. However, if Cena leaves in a few years after HBK and Taker have retired, when Triple H is on his final coast, when Batista has already left, AND without building up replacements? The WWE could suffer, and suffer for a long time. Not TNA ratings suffer, but damn.

As far as his acting career, it should be a comfortable B career. He's no A-list celebrity, and he doesn't try to act like one. He'll have a few good movies, maybe one big Blockbuster, a few movies that are shit terrible. But off of those pay days, and the massive amounts he's been pulling down in his multiple years of main-eventing PPV after PPv, he and his soon-to-be wife will be just fine.

Could be Punk, MVP, Morrison, hell it could be TBK for all we know..
These guys have already been wrestling 5+ years. Cena's debut was in 2002, he was main eventing pay-per-views pretty much the next year. (vs. Taker at Vengeance '03, vs. Angle at No Mercy '03. He won the WWE Championship at the beginning of 2005, and went to Raw, making him the popular star he is today.

My point is, when big stars like these come, they come in fast and take over. We didn't see Rock and Austin wrestling for over five years before they became breakout superstars making millions and movies in Hollywood.

MVP will be even bigger one day. It looks like their grooming him to be really big. Compared to CM Punk and John Morrison, I think he will be the most successful. But still, they will never be in the same class as all the greats. (Hogan, HHH, Austin, Cena, Rock, Undertaker, Flair, Michaels)
