Can Someone explain to me what WWE Network is?

I assume what you are referring to is the TV Network Vince McMahon has wanted to launch for a large number of years. Apparantly, it's close to being launched at some point this year but, so far, I've seen nor heard anything concrete.

The WWE network is Vince's idea to get a TV station devoted to WWE programming. essentially WWE 24/7 but on regular TV vs On Demand

Right now WWE 24/7 is a pay cable channel that is not included in your basic cable package. You pay a monthly subscription for service. Ala HBO, Showtime, Porn (ha!), etc.

WWE Network is Vince's vision for a 24-hour channel that will be included as part of you basic package. Ala ESPN, Nickelodeon, MTV, etc... Percentages out of that would increase profits significantly. You could capture a broader audience if you have WWE as a regular channel that anyone can find. Which means advertising money as well.

Also it could lead to WWE moving Monday Night Raw/Smackdown to the Network to attract its core audience. Might not happen since USA/SyFy pay WWE for production as oppose to WWE taking all of the financial burden.

But with WWE's web shows, NXT/Superstars, they could be moved to the Network easily.

Hope that helped.

I'm really excited about this network, but I'm not getting my hopes on it ever actually happening. At least not as a TV station. They're already talking about making it a joint venture with Verizon or something. I don't even know what that means, but I just doubt we will ever see a WWE TV station, at least not in the traditional sense.

But if they do, I would gladly pay the extra money to get the package it comes with. I'd be watching it all day. It'd be awesome if they were open to showing indy feds like Ring of Honor on their network, although that's a big stretch.

I seriously doubt Raw or Smackdown would move to their network, because USA I believe is the highest rated cable network in America. And Raw I believe is the highest rated show. There is absolutely no way it could maintain even close to these ratings on a WWE TV channel, because I'm sure it wouldn't be available with most TV packages. The basic cable package comes with USA, Nickelodeon, TNT, etc. The big channels. The more expensive the package, the more channels it comes with. I would imagine the WWE Network would be on one of the more expensive packages, because I just can't see it being a basic cable channel. So it would only be available in a small percentage of homes. So WWE might play reruns of Raw and Smackdown, but I don't see the live episodes leaving their current homes anytime soon.

As far as what they show on the network, the possibilities are endless. Old pay-per-views, old Raws (or best of Raws, i.e. Best of 1995) NXT, Superstars, compilations from their huge video library of non-WWE feds... It really is endless. I would be so addicted to this.

From what I understand, it's a TV network that's not yet in existence but would be kind of a waste anyway. As one of my favorite posters, brighamosity, already stated, I too am eagerly anticipating a 24/7 wrasslin station, however I'm realistic enough to know I'd never in a million years have time to watch it.

You see, daytime TV is bad. Really bad. So watching a station during the day run by people who can't make two hours on Mondays & Fridays interesting seems like a pretty bad plan.

What are they going to do? Show the Marine day after day after mother-f'n day... what a lousy flick. "I WANT MY FAMILY!!" Yea, shut the F up, nobody randomly steals someone's wife while robbing a gas station. Or whatever the hell they were doing there.
