Can I get some help from you computer type people?

Scotty

I have a PHD in Horribleness
I am trying to hook up a wireless router for a laptop and I have all the cords and everything attached but the laptop will not find any wireless devices. Help?

Wireless and cords?

Have you installed the wire?

Have you activated the little wireless button on your laptop?

Stupid question, but have to ask, the router is on right? with lights in the right things and everything right?

It saw that this laptop is searching and to make sure the device is "discoverable".

searching in what manner?

Searching for a wireless network? searching for the device through the hardware installation pop-up that windows throws at you every now and then? searching for what?

I installed it into my main computer and it is running fine. I went to "Add a wireless device to the network" and it says it is searching and it never finds anything.

So we're talking about the wireless router not being discovered ?

I would say if you plug it in where you usually plug in a router (power, the net cable out to the outside of your LAN network and of course wireless antennas) then if configured properly it should be discovered by your laptop automatically.
