Can a face Jericho win a world title?

This thread is not about if Jericho is/will turn face. It is if he does become a face, will he be able to win the title? I know that he won his first title against the rock as a face, but that was the wcw title. I know its still considered a world title, but even if you count that win, Jericho has reached way more fame as a heel than a face. Look at edge. Great heel champion, cant win the big one as a face imo.

I would have to go with yes. He is now definately considered main even, and with how different his character is to his y2j character, i think that people will be all over jericho when he starts bringing back the yj2 lines and manerisms. He is a better face than edge, and the wwe already tested the waters with him when he "beat" hhh for the title only to have it taken away, and when he beat the rock for the wcw title. and both times i think he was successful in how he got the crowd behind him.

So straight up, can y2j chris jericho win the big one as a face? If so, will it be the y2j character, or will he have to switch it up again?

Yea I agree as a heel jericho he has accomplished so much more in his career, and I think he is like a heel shawn he is a main eventer but not needed for any titles and I think his Y2j character is dead and I would welcome a change to jericho's character.
But we will find out I personally see him retiring by the end of this year or the star of next year.

The Y2J character has been laid to rest, and with good cause. It was cool in 2000, but not so much anymore, now that Jericho's nearly 40. When he first came back trying some of those mannerisms, he only got a lukewarm response, despite his hiatus. He was only able to rise back up after ditching that character completely and reinventing himself. Why go back?

That said, IF a Jericho face turn happens, I don't think his current character would have nearly the same impact working as a face, and I'd call a world title run highly unlikely, unless it was transitional.

Jericho, is w/o a doubt one of those guys that can win the title @ anytime, whether face or heel. He will always be a top contender, even in the face of a losing streak. He truly is the best in the world @ what he does.

i agree saying that Jericho has the ability to win as a Heel or Face. really if you look at it, he wouldnt do it as a face on RAW. Cena is the Face champ of RAW and has been for a long time now (reason Orton wont win at SS), would have to be on Smackdown again. but it is possible. and he aint retiring when his contract is up, lay that to rest.

Hey Yo!

The Y2J, is too old school that isn't necessarily a bad thing but with current WWE crowds he kinda just fizzles out as a face. Chris Jericho has always been talented and very good but it wasn't till his heel turn that he showed he is indeed the best at what he does. Under a heel persona he has the credentials and accomplishments to back that up, and those accomplishments outweigh what he has done as a face.

So for me definetly Jericho being a heel will equal world titles, more than as a face but you never know.

I dont know man... Jericho is leaving when his contract expires. Like many have said Y2J wont work in todays E, how ever if anyone in the wrestling biz deserves a massive send off it is jericho. He has been one the best for many years and his mic skills are amazing. If he turns face (we can see it happening now) or stays heel, the man deserves one more world title to go out with a bang

Sure he could win the world title. Just like I said about Morrison, it won't happen. I don't see Chris Jericho winning any more world titles. Or well if he did I'd be surprised, because there's a lot of other talents out there that would make more sense than to give Jericho a world title again. He's a great transactional champion and he's good for making others look good as well. So I think that is where he'd be most likely to be placed, not as champion, but to make talents look good as they prepare to become champions.

Chris no matter alignment could carry the belt. Considering he has never been world champion as a face. So while I believe the alignment ultimately will matter little to Jericho's abilities to get the world title back around his waist. A face Jericho doesn't exactly help his odds.

So while I would love to see Jericho win a world title once again, because I just love Jericho as champion, I really do not see it happening. Especially not as a face.

Jericho is indeed almost 40. I'd like to see him turn face again, but he won't be quite the same as the Y2J character of 10 years ago, who was young and cocky. One example....do any of you remember the match on Raw when Y2J beat HHH for the title, but it was too fast of a count and he lost it again? He was a HUGE face at the time....second only to The Rock and was involved in a hilarious feud with Steph/HHH ("dirty, disgusting, putrid, bottom-feeding, trash bag, ho'"). That Jericho cannot come back. He was funny then at 20-something years old and as the underdog, but it's a different world now.

I think the best bet for Jericho is to just leave him as he is. The crowd love him anyway, heel or face. Put him against a credible heel and slap the belt on him at least one more time....it'll work. Jericho doesn't have to go back to being Y2J again, but he can still be f**king hilarious and still looks as sharp as ever in the ring (not quite as agile as he was, but technically more sound).

I know people keep mentioning his age, but really, there is no one sharper than him, he looks quicker, smarter and more technical in the ring than anyone and lets be honest the guy just oozes charisma. I actually cant believe the guy has never been THE man. He has the posterboy look (even at 40), he must have an IQ higher than the rest of the locker room added together, his credentials are endless. I love him as a heel, and he is the best at it, but I love him as a face too. I dont know if the kids would "get" Y2J though, but the guy is so talented and quick on his feet he would get over by hook or by crook.

To me he actually seems so close to a Randy Orton moment, he's at the point where the only way he can get the crowd against him is with cheap heat. He's a veteran, a living legend and older fans will cheer him regardless. I know this is an incoherent rant, but my point is Jericho is amazing, let him go face andcover the guy in gold. He is the most talented guy in the company by a country mile, lets show him the appreciation he deserves.
