Bring Back DOINK!!!!

Yes I said it. WWE should bring back Doink as a full time wrestler. I know what you may be thinking that this is the stupidest idea ever but hear me out. I got an idea watching "The Dark Knight" the other day seeing how the Joker character was different and much darker than he was in previous films. I think that WWE could do the same with Doink. They could re-package him as a psychotic maniac. He would be a much more serious character than he was back in the 90's. They should base his character and look somewhat on the Joker from Dark Knight. The same thing worked with Sting back in the day when he ripped off the Crow so why not the Joker?
They can start off by having vignettes showing Doink is returning. People will then think that its the same old Doink but when it is time to debut him they can have a match where a babyface like R-Truth wins and then the lights go out. When the lights come back on they can show truth laid out with the new psychotic Doink standing over him. He would have dingy clothes, creepy face paint and green hair.
After that he could randomly attack other baby faces and when asked what his motivation is he could say that the only reason he is in WWE is to cause pain. He says that all these other guys care about is winning titles. When Doink wrestle he would only try to make guys tap out because he enjoys seeing them suffer. He could say that he is not there to win popularity or to hold belts, but to cause chaos and suffering. To shake things up he could attack not only faces, but heels too.
A possible storyline could be where DiBiase hires him to help him win a title and then Doink turns on him accusing DiBiase of being a lousy villain because all he cares about is winning titles. Doink could be a total loose canon.

Idk, what do all you think? It could develop into some interesting storylines. He would not be too cartoonish of a character, he would just be a maniac who likes to hurt people that wears face paint.

No. No. No. No. No.

Doink is a comedic character. He's a fucking clown. There are too many maniacs in WWE who like to randomly hurt people. One of them is our World Heavyweight Champion.

Not bashing you're idea, but it wouldn't work. I think the WWE is almost perfect right now with people being where they need to be. If anything, they have an abundance of wrestlers and don't need to add any.

If it's Matt Boune is playing him hell yeah. I've seen a lot of dumb gimmicks, so why not bring back Doink. He was great in the ring and he was funny as hell. I love the idea of him being ruthless and beating the Shit outta people. Plus he'd be a veterain who could still deliver in the ring.

Um...your idea has been done, dude. When Doink originally debuted back in 93, he was booked as a maniacal clown....he had darker theme music, and pretty much did everything you just spoke about.

Check out this early video of one of his first fights. His entrance alone displayed all the characteristics that you were talking about.

As for the topic itself:

Matt Bourne, who still uses the evil clown persona as a gimmick on the indys, wearing make up quite similar to the Joker from the Dark Knight, just isn't in decent enough shape anymore to hold down a place within WWE's new youth orientated roster, and I really don't see it working with anybody else coming in and doing the gimmick....so I really cant see this one happening.

I don't think he is needed at all. We have plenty of wrestlers who fall under the comedic jobber like roles. First off being Santino, he is the major "comedy jobber" the WWE has going right now and is basically being used how Doink was back in the day. The Great Khali, William Regal, and Koslov for other examples are comedy act wrestlers these days as well. There are probably more but I don't feel like pointing out every worthless doink *pun intended* on the roster.

So to keep this short and sweet, there are enough comedy act wrestlers in the WWE right now that wast enough good air time, no need to rehash a comedy gimmick from the early 90s for some nostalgia factor.

Spood has it all nailed it this post. The fact of the matter is Raw has enough comedy jobbers as it stands. Doink would only add more of what they already have so in my mind they don'y need Doink at all.

Doink in my mind is a comedy jobber and thats all he will ever be. Doink i don't think would be taken seriously even as a joker type character. In my mind the less Doink the better

I think Doink being back was a one time thing and it should be. There is no reason for Doink to be there other than taking up much needed time for other wrestlers. I can't see him having a character like the Joker AGAIN would do anything for the WWE other than annoy the hell out of everybody. They haven't showed Hornswoggle in a while so why messed up by bringing back Doink?

O.k Doing in my opinion is worthless... RAW has plenty of comedy jobbers in regal, santino, golddust, khali, koslov, primo, etc. Completely useless, and wouldn't last more than a month....

No, god no.
Raw doesn't need any more heels at all, especially not ones that are rehashed. Plus, this booking sounds like a mixture of Papa Shango and the old Doink. Gimmicks like that just don't get over now. Especially with kayfabe in the rear view mirror.
If they need a new comedy jobber...sure.

NO! I can't express that enough. Doink was interesting when he first came in as that dark psycho clown that was just odd and scary. Then they turned him into an actual wrestling clown (thanks to the release of Matt Bourne, the BEST Doink). Now when people think Doink they tend to facepalm themselves. He's not needed and it would kill the career of any young wrestler who had to portray him.

Doink needs the right kind of guy playing him, because as we all know, their are really two different Doinks. There is the babyface, goofy and comedic Doink and then there is Matt Bourne's evil Doink the Clown. If you could find a good enough worker with the passion to properly pull off the charcter (and if you had the proper commitment from the creative team) then hell yes I think Doink should be back. But the odds on those two things happeneing are slim and none.

Matt Bourne's Doink the Clown is fuckin amazing, in my opinion, one of the best heel charcters WWF had at the time. But trying to replicate that in todays WWE simply wouldn't work.

Ya bring him back because the crowd was so marking out for him last monday and was so over with the crowd. These people don't give a shit about doink anymore. If you watched raw there was no reaction for him and it was really dull.

If they tried to bring him back it would not work because the fans would not be behind him at all. END TOPIC
