No one can really say they didn't see this one coming. The Vikings season has been a train wreck of epic proportions, from Brett Favre's texting, to his incredible decline on the field, to the Randy Moss debacle which resulted in the Pats getting a third rounder for free, Jared Allen's disappearance, along with the rest of the d-line, the continued lack of pass protection, Rice's missing half the season, and culminating by getting embarrassed by the Packers at home with the "Fire Chilly" chants being loud enough to be heard on TV and the radio. Can't really argue with the choice to axe him, though I'd have done it last week.

The Vikes have pretty much nowhere to go but up with Leslie Frazier as their new coach, but I think they've mailed it in for the year. Here's hoping for Luck or Mallett in the Draft.

It had to be done.

Brett should retire right now, but because he doesn't realize how bad he is right now, he probably thinks he could go out and have a good game next week and the previous 10 games of fumbles, interceptions, and general sucking would just be blamed on Chilly.

If TJ was starting a long time ago the season might've been salvaged. He would've definetely limited the turnovers which would've won them a lot of their closer games. I hope Leslie Fraizer does the right thing and euthanizes Brett immediately for his own good. There is no way anyone can justify starting a 41 year old turnover machine on a team that needs to start focusing on the future.

As was expected. It would be wise to bench Favre now and see what you have in Tavaris Jackson to prepare for next year. He hasn't looked terrible when he's played in the past, maybe a couple of years on the pine has helped him improve as a professional quarterback.

Ok, for all those people saying they need to bench Favre and see what they have in TJ, they know exactly what they have in TJ, he's been there since '06, and has been a starter for them in the past, if they felt confidant with him as a starter do you think they would have went out and had him competing with Rosenfels for the job in '09, before ultimately bringing Favre and making him their starter? of course not, Tarvaris Jackson is a masive pile of fail, and the Viking know this, this and the fact that they're paying Favre $20 mil. to PLAY this year are the reason why Jackson is still on the bench, let Favre finish out the season, what's the worst that could happen, they lose more games and get a better spot in the draft?

as for Chilly being fired, all I have to say is that on behalf of Packer fans everywhere I'd just like to say you're welcome:D

The bad thing for Brad was, he and the Vikings put everything on the line for Farve. Farve ran/runs this team. They chances rode on Farve playing like he did last year. He hasn't, and the team has suffered. Childress lost this team more than Phillips. Childress had tension with Farve, and numerous players have said how they don't respect him. It was the right move to make.

As for Farve being benched, just no. Farve is a competitor and will not sit. I'm sure you will see this team play much better because now their jobs are on the line. Farve is still a much better option than Jackson. The Vikings are going nowhere this season, Farve should finish it out.

Somewhere, Randy Moss is smiling.

Yeah, this was a necessary move. With rumors dating back to last year that the players made fun of him behind his back, and that the Vikings only got as far as they did based upon lucky breaks, Im surprised he didnt go sooner. The breakdown of a 41 year old QB coming off a difficult ankle surgery(Ive had the same one), only made things worse, as well as the scandal. Things can only get better with Leslie Frasier as coach.

I dont think you bench Farve at this point. You just dont welcome him back nect year under ANY circumstances, whether he wants to play or not. He's being paid 20 million: you don't waste that by having him sit on the bench. Jackson's not the answer at QB, and the team willl be far better off starting over with a high draft pick and using it on a franchise QB.
