Book This! - General Discussion

No signs of a revival then?

Idk, it's like you said about your 2001 thread, it's hard to stay inspired about something that happened so long ago. I've had tons of ideas for WWE threads based in 2001, 2002, 2007, 2010 and TNA 2005 and 2010. But I've been thinking of a post WrestleMania XXX thread and that may be the likeliest one.

Choxy had a great blog before he took it down. It had the funniest, most obviously made up stuff I've ever seen. It's shame he's gone. Welcome to the section Willow.

You realize Choxy is Willow right? I assume so but just wanna make sure.

What was on the blog?

Coming soon...

What do you expect? He's 12, he's trying to show off for his couple friends when he should be outside playing all day like normal kids do at that age.

Also please link me to said blog.

Of course, I chose to write NXT when the three bigger names all get called up...xD

That is funny. But I wouldn't consider Adam Rose a bigger name. I bet he fades out real quick on the main roster. But NXT stars always hang around a bit before leaving NXT for good, so you can still get some use out of them.

That's true. I consider Adam Rose to be a bigger name because he is super over with the NXT crowd, I am scared about how it will translate on the main roster, but even last night, he always trends when he appears.

I was actually going to say - right now, after Wrestlemania XXX, would be the perfect start for a BT. Bryan, Shield, Paige, Wyatts and just everything else seems like the perfect start for the next generation.

I'm toying the idea of a return, part of me wants to build my own realistic roster for Jarrett's new company and roll with that but I don't know.

My problem right now is that I have a hundred ideas but can't commit to one. I've wrote out the first five shows and a load of introductory stuff for GCB's WWE Season 2, began posting it somewhere else but now have lost the love of it. My main angle was Miz ending the Streak. I never thought Brock Lesnar would come along and wreck that for me!

I've got WWF 1999 (after WM15) started but I don't think I know it well enough after the main guys who were on PPV.

I could start a modern day WWE one again but I've tried that recently and lost interest.

Maybe I'm growing up? :D

Keep trying to find time to write and a full show, which seems impossible. Especially the idea of a 3 hour RAW every week. Ridiculous. But i'm dedicated to the thread and really just need it to get out the creative juices. My thread is going to be a lot of summary. I'll include as much detail as necessary to really sell feuds and matches and what not. I just don't have enough energy to pretend to care about those minute details that go into a top to bottom show. In the long run I think it will be better for anyone who reads. What they're reading is important and not filler BS. My thread is going to have a lot of focus on the Pay-Per-Views. Its hard to describe the format I have in mind, but it should suffice. It could be the new way of running a thread if done properly. Its obvious we all love it, but the time just isn't available. More to come.

** COMING SOON **

OK, OK, OK. A modern-day BT? Right after WrestleMania? How cliche, GCB! What are you thinking?

Well, I'm thinking that I try this out and see what I think. I've got no long term plan. I've got two weeks of shows to write before Extreme Rules. I'll write them, post them, I'll even write Extreme Rules. And then ... I'll make some decisions. If I know me - and let's face it, I should - this will do one of two things. It'll fizzle out like so many aborted BT's I've done, did. Or I'll capture my imagination like I did with one other BT and I'll find myself coming up with ideas for TV and PPV while I'm sat having a sh ... dumpski. Truth is that I like the modern day WWE right now, there's so much talent. And so many potential storylines. What do you do with Brock Lesnar now that the Streak has been broken? Hell, what do you do with Undertaker? What about the CM Punk situation? How do you build Bryan even further without him becoming the second coming of Cena? How do you write Cena without making him heel? {I've done that once, it didn't really work for me} How do you break up the Shield? Do you break up the Shield? So, sorry Notorious lad, GCB is wading in with a modern day BT.

Now, a challenge for you all: for too long, my show was top of the charts around here. I'm not being arrogant, the numbers spoke for themselves. 20+ pages, multiple PPV's, 50000 (nearly) views. There were some worthy challenges, guys that inspired me to improve my own show but they fizzled out (Prophet, JAM) or took too long (Peep, Theo) ... There were some promising new stars of the BT section but they couldn't find consistency. There were some, let's be honest, god-awful efforts - I'm looking at you, Choxy. BT used to be great but now it is dead. Come build it with me. Challenge me. Inspire me. Beat me.

Well, if you're looking at views per post, I reign supreme...

Starting after WM 30 is like a dream scenario, there is so much starting and you can really guide it any way you want. I haven't watched a whole RAW since early 2012, but I'm tempted to start watching. I'm at least checking results each week. The Shield vs Evolution would be mouth watering. Paige is a breath of fresh air. You have such a great midcard doing nothing and a whole host of talent just waiting in NXT. With the talent they have and with only one world title, you could have quite possibly the deepest roster of all time - you've got enough stars for the main event and the midcard and tag team ranks could be filled out so quickly with talent. Hell, you could just start building tag teams from the wasted talent. I feel like you could book Bryan very close to the way they booked Cena for years (without it being cheesy) and it could work. Someone like Bryan is better chasing the belt, so you have to chuck the odds heavily against him for people to get invested.

I have no time to write or even any motivation to write shows but I'd love to be a member of the creative team lol.

Please tell me you haven't calculated that! ;)

Agree completely with that. I've planned a PPV and TV for those feuds so far and I'm just realising how much I have left over and consequently how much the WWE wastes. The amount of mid-card talent who are doing nothing is scary. The amount of guys who've been WWE/World Champion who now, realistically, are contenders for IC/US Championship is long.
