I'm not surprised in the slightest. ECW was a promotion where the workers actually cared enough about the promotion. They put ECW above their families at times. They worked for no money or very little to help the company out. No one in WCW did that. WCW was all about themselves. Long as the worker was making the dollar they didn't care about the promotion.
Yeah, but look what that got virtually all of the ECW guys: little more than a body full of scar tissue and memories. Passion is a great thing, don't get me wrong, but a lot of these guys were idiotic putting themselves through the physical hell that was ECW for virtually nothing. All most of them have left are memories and bodies full of scar tissue.
As to the topic, a WCW reunion show just doesn't seem at all feasible and a lot of the ideas I've read don't seem the least bit realistic.
In Scott Steiner's case, he has issues with the McMahon family that are unlikely to be resolved. I don't know if Steiner's just done too many steroids or if he's just naturally immature, but he has the emotional maturity of a hot headed 16 year old boy and would be a powder keg waiting to go off.
WWE would be unlikely to put Sting in another match as his neck injury is said to be pretty serious. Given his age, there's a good possibility he may never fully recover from it to the point where WWE would feel comfortable putting him in the ring again.
Ric Flair wouldn't be cleared to wrestle, which is a good thing, seeing as how the last few times he wrestled in TNA resulted in him getting hurt.
Hulk Hogan will not be wrestling in WWE again due to medical reasons and, let's face it, he won't be brought back anytime soon as WWE would face backlash due to the phone conversation containing Hogan's racist remarks earlier this year.
Goldberg would be unlikely to appear as he also has issues with the McMahons and he'd want an outrageous sum of money to do it. Plus, even though he looks to be in great physical shape, the man hasn't wrestled in well over a decade so there's no telling what sort of ring shape he might be in.
Jeff Jarrett is busy trying to get GFW going and, rightly so, it's where all his energy is focused. He might consider it if he was allowed to plug GFW, but that's almost certainly not gonna happen as WWE does as little as possible to give any sort of publicity to rival wrestling organizations.
Hall & Nash may or may not be medically cleared. Nash's knees are in bad shape, he's in his 50s and while Hall may be sober, he's definitely not in any degree of ring shape and I've no idea if he has any sort of nagging injuries or medical conditions that'd keep him on the shelf.
Rey Mysterio could probably be convinced to show up, provided he also gets a big enough payday.
Buff Bagwell was in a serious car accident back in 2012 that resulted in severe injuries and he suffered the crash due to having a seizure. He's made a recovery, as he's been wrestling on the indie scene, but there's no telling if he'd pass WWE's medical tests. Also, if I'm not mistaken, WWE may want to avoid any sort of embarrassment as, if I remember correctly, Buff was working for a male escort service at some point within the past few years.
DDP is a possibility, though I don't know how much interest he'd have in doing it.
As for guys like Alex Wright, wherever the hell he is, Juventud Guerrera, Fit Finlay, Disco Inferno, Van Hammer, Steve McMichael, Scott Norton and various other second stringers, nobody's gonna give a damn except the hardest of hardcore WCW nostalgiaholics. Guys from the earlier days of WCW like the Rock n Roll Express, Brad Armstrong, Mike Rotunda and various others are either too old and/or wouldn't be recognized by many fans.
As far as a realistic card goes, I could see something like this:
Booker T vs. Ron Simmons
Big Van Vader vs. Sid Vicious
Lord Steven Regal vs. Squire Dave Taylor
Chris Jericho vs. Syxx
"Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright vs. Disco Inferno
Billy Kidman vs. Juventud Guerrera
