Blue Rep

Spidey Revivey

Porn is okay here long as it ain't dudes.
If this thread has been done before then I apologize, but this has been on my mind for some time now.

I love rep. Hell even negative rep I can appreciate if it educates me and helps me to become a better poster. But I can't quite fathom the importance of the neutral color here that is blue rep.

I have been given a large quantity of positive blue rep, and a minimum of negative blue. But I can't quite figure out the reason how Blue Rep could promote me or demote me.

I know it's given by someone with no repping power. Does this help the other guy get power? If not, then how is it benefitting the people recieving?

I can understand the positive blue rep is a nice gesture and I consider that highly, but I can look at another rep of the same color and the comment left behind might not be so...nice.

What if repping was just up to the people that have rep power?

What do you think about the neutrality that is blue?

Might be looking at this a little too analytical...but it is 3:08 AM here and I can't sleep. But this has been something I would like to know.

Well the purpose of handing out rep is a way of saying "I agree" or "I disagree" without actually having to reply to the thread, while I do agree that the "blue" (I believe it's actually gray?) rep does nothing for you in the end, it's still a way for those who has not gotten the rep point that they need to give you a green one, or a red one, to point out what they think about your post, or if they simply agree (seeing as agreeing is the only way you can leave a empty comment box)

I wouldn't exactly say we should go for the solution of simply disallowing the users who does not have any rep points, to not rep at all, due to the fact that there's some people who has gotten a negative rep bar, and some who has posted numerous posts, yet hasn't gotten the 10 rep points they need to get that 1 rep power point.

Personally, while I have to admit it can be an annoying color to look at, I'm in no way against it, and I appreciate that they take their time to either leave a comment through it, or actually just agreeing / disagreeing with me, even if it furthers nothing for me, it shows that I've put forth a post that someone took notice to, and that the ability to leave such a mark of "acceptance" or "disapproval" should be a honoring thing to say the least.
