Black Friday!

It's...Baylariat!

Team Finnley Baylor
So far, NCAA 14 for 25.00 dollars, a Eureka vacuum, bagless for 38.00 and the 1st season of Big Bang Theory for under 10 dollars.

Not too bad. Anyone else brave stores to find these deals? Are Americans the only folk that practice this ritual? Wanna know where I got these scars?

I dunno...

I bought the Last of Us and MLB 13: The Show. 25 & 15. I've been tasked with finding my parents a TV and some other electronics.

My lady friend apparently went out shopping on Thanksgiving herself. I'm a bit concerned.

Surprisingly, even though here in Canada we celebrated Thanksgiving a month ago rather than yesterday, Black Friday is still a huge deal. Tons of deals to be had both online and in store.

I'm heading out to the Half Price Bookstore and that's it. Becca dragged me out to Target last year at like 230 in the afternoon and the place looked like a war had broken out. I did however get my mom some nice earrings for 75% off.

Received a well-timed letter from my bank this morning, informing me I had access to a bit more dosh than I previously thought. I'm currently hovering over the Amazon lightning deals page like a vulture to carrion.

Not a chance. I'm working today, have been since 7, and even when I'm done at 2, there's no chance I'm braving any of the stores in my area. The town I live in 45 minutes outside of Pittsburgh is a shopping paradise, but it's also the town people come to moreso then Pittsburgh, under the impression that things will be less crowded. They're always mistaken. As was I last year when I took the day off and went shopping with my wife.

Speaking of, my wife is out there with friends, and she keeps texting me of the things she's buying as she empties out our bank account one purchase at a time. Yeah, she's taking care of most of the Christmas shopping for family and friends that I haven't already done, and her gifts to me are always stellar. But she's under the impression that everything she wants, we need.

I do the majority of my Christmas shopping much earlier than this. and if there's anything I need for myself or really want, I'll wait a few days. If it's slightly more expensive, or gone, so be it. I may head to the used bookstore down the road this afternoon that surprisingly sells much more then just books, as they sell DVD's, video games, and televisions as well. It's a hidden gem also because not many people realize it is there. And coming from a family of readers, I'll find Christmas gifts there as well, and likely a few books I've been wanting to read.

The 'I've missed about two months of work this year' in my refusal to take the day off was one my wife simply couldn't counter. And she's with friends, so she's likely having more fun anyways. So I was thinking of her hapiness first. :p

I actually like to shop, but I'm not a pleasant guy in big shopping crowds.

I don't do this shit, I had to work Black Friday at a Shopko once many years ago, & nearly got trampled to death when they opened the doors, then had to deal with a barrage of stupid questions, & questions from people who either don't speak English, or just decided to to speak in English that day to fuck with me.

My sister, who's so broke she has trouble paying her monthly bills on time, went out though, of course not until after she gives me a call asking if I want to send her money, to which I always say "No."

About the only thing Black Friday shopping related I've done so far is ordered 5 DVDs from ROH, if anyone care to know what I ordered they can just visit the ROH thread.

Mine wasn't bad today. I was one of the first 100 in Half Price Bookstore and got a $5 gift card plus a free bag out of it. Picked up a bunch of clearance books for a buck or two each plus a few more. There was a 40% off coupon for the most expensive item so I picked up a gift for my uncle for $5.

Also went to Gordman's and picked up my mom's perfume for regular price but it's out of the way now.

Got a 16gb flash drive at Staples for $7 with the store almost empty. I'd have gotten a new laptop but I hvae too many expenses coming up next year.

Depressing. I mean not in a bad way, fucking A of a game but, it just brings you down man.

I've never went shopping on Black Friday. After working in retail for over three years I already know I don't have the patience for it. I might take advantage of some Cyber Monday deals if I get some bread before then.

Not a chance. My wife tried getting me to go to Walmart last night around 6 PM which would have entailed an hour drive to get there, to pick up the most garbage off brand 32" TV I've seen in my life for $100.

I promptly informed her that such a thing cuts into my eating and drinking time.

Otherwise I'm watching my usual tech sites for deals as well as any gaming deals. Everyone wants new tech gifts in my family it seems like so it's right up my alley.

So the UK realised what Black Friday was finally. Asda's electronics sale had the shelves cleared within 2 minutes in my local store.

We're doing 50% off on regular items today, not clearance, and some customers aren't happy about it. I had this conversation about twenty times or more today

Me: "No, clearance is not apart of our Black Friday sale."

Customer (pissed off and/or rude most of the time): "Why? It's Black Friday. Everything is supposed to be on sale."

Me: "Sorry. Clearance items aren't on sale, and the 50% sale ends after tonight."

Customer: "That doesn't make any sense!"

Yes, because we're going to give you 50% off on a fucking shirt that cost $2.00 and some change, or a three pack of socks, or filp-flops that cost over one dollar or $0.99 and below in some cases (slightly damaged stuff).

As for shopping on Black Friday, I haven't done it in the past and I will never do it. Working eight years in retail has killed any interest I'll ever have to shop on Black Friday. I've dealt with the large crowds, and having to see people shout at each other and almost get into fist fights over Christmas trees at my old job. I just don't understand why so many people get worked up and in some cases legit angry during the "craze."

And the long lines, I hate the lines. The last time (and I'm pretty sure it's the only time) I stood in a really long line to buy something was tickets for the Royal Rumble down here, and that was back in 2006.

Awwwww shiiiiiiitttttt. Joint bank accounts im guessing. lol

Fuck. That. Noise. Thanksgiving day a ton of websites were already running Black Friday sales. I bought me a Macho Man shirt off WWEShop, and a few rubber bracelets, bought me some new Dr. Dre Beats headphones for about $45. Bought a few Christmas presents for my friends. Bought some new gauges and aftercare stuff for them. A few e-books that were on sale. Then I spent $85 at the liquor store the night before Thanksgiving and had a hell of a holiday.

My brother had to work at Wal-Mart on Thanksgiving because those ********ers can't give their employees the night off, because they want PRE Black Friday sales.. Sam's Club gets it off though? But whatever, I took him 2 big ass trays of Thanksgiving dinner and he was beyond ecstatic. His job for the night was handing out the 20 PS4's and 20 Xbox One's they had for sale that night. He said this man was arrested just before we got there because he pulled a knife on this little kid over a Blu-Ray.. yeah.
