Occasional Pre-Show
Ok I know Im not the only one who was very dissapointed in the choice of having Big Show as the mystery partner. He was in the middle of a i guess promising feud with Kofi and Evan and all of the smaller guys for the US title. So they pull him out of that feud and randomly put him with Jericho. I had assumed as did most that the WWE would do something to shake things up but rather than do something smart and surprising they at least IMO took a step back by using Big Show rather than building a more interesting story such as finally breaking up Legacy which is IMO is long over due since they really haven't accomplished anything except making them look like lap dogs and extremely weak in the sense of having 3 people constantly be beat up by either HHH or Cena.

So my question is this: Did the WWE make a smart move in using Big Show rather than a good Mid carder who could use Jericho's guidance to put them closer to the ME status??

Yes it was a good choice to use someone like Big Show as Jericho's partner. The two have massive egos and, it seems are able to bounce off each other on the mic. Plus using Jericho's agility and Big Show's strength, they could actually come up with some pretty inventive double teams. Not to mention that, in my opinion, Big Show was becoming very stale and was running the risk of becoming completely uninteresting as a singles wrestler, so this could very well freshen up Big Show as a performer.

I also think having the Big Show as Jericho's partner was a good idea for reasons already mentioned. He was getting stale lingering in the mid card and I personally don't think the storyline with Kofi would have been all that interesting, regardless of their undoubted talent (I AM including Show in that statment - for a guy of his size he is impressive in the ring). The tag storyline will be much more interesting, especially as one guy is Raw contracted and the other is SmackDown contracted. This opens the possibility of total dominance for these two superstars - World Championships and Tag Championships. I know another Big Show v John Cena feud would be history repeating itself, but Jericho needs the World Championship on SmackDown, leading to the impending Edge v Jericho storyline. In the mean time, Jericho can have smaller feuds with people like Morrison and Undertaker (who will probably face Punk at Wrestlemania) until Edge's return. Big Show taking the WWE title will also free up Orton and HHH to finally finish their feud properly and away from the title picture. He could be cost the title to Cena 'accidentally' by Jericho or maybe Kingston, reigniting the feud that was developing recently. What do you think? Comments?

they should of used a midcarder to help him get to me status. since swagger nd ziggler both lost last nite either one would of been a good choice. both men get over as heels nd have good futures a head of them

2 other men worthy are ecw's shelton nd regal unless they are planning to have them feud with christian.

big show was a huge disapoinmnet

The way i see this situation, this is a double edge sword, Big Show doesn't need the rub from this situation, but also there could of been other choices iin regards to a tag team partner also.

Theres guys who need a huge rub such as The Brian Kendrick someone who could have complimented Jericho immencly, he has the skill, the talent and the mic skills to put almost anyone over.

you have william regal again who needs the rub,Evan Bourne, Festus the talent is limitless, the big show was already over as a main eventer he didnt need this situation to prove his dominance I think the reason they placed him with Jericho is to find a solution to the tag team title situation instead of giving the belts to legacy and continue Jerichos reign of dominance which IMO is an ok move but not the best.

It wasn't the greatest move, but it could've been worse. The Big Show was completely stale in the situation the WWE has for him. To be honest, the guy really hasn't had all that much of anything interesting since the Floyd Mayweather debacle last year. The entire thing with Cena was predictable because it's exactly the same thing that's happened with the two before.

While Show wasn't the best choice, the guy is established and can lend some credibility to the titles. I think if the purpose is to give some credibility back to the tag titles, a couple of veterans is what's needed at the start, then build up the younger teams in the tag division, then drop the straps to one of them. Jericho's the speed and athleticism, Show's the size and strength. If done properly, I think they can be a pretty effective tag team.

i agree that big show was extremely stale and bored the hell out of me, but i dont think he should have been put in with jericho. he is already a main event name and was involved in a possible good feud with kingston and bourne which could have helped them out even more by beating show. he was the absolute last person i expected to be jericho's partner and i think overall its gonna prove to be a mistake.

vince should have had the ecw title match first, have dreamer beat christian, then after the match instead of having dreamer and christian hug, christian should have beat down dreamer. then later on the tag match starts and christian (the newest heel) is revealed as jericho's mystery partner. wwe pulls what they did with matt and jeff hardy's feud and say christian "demanded he be released from his ecw contract" and then he "signed with teddy long on smackdown". this would have set up fantastic and classic feuds with edge christian and jericho with edge being the face, jericho being the heel, and christian can go either way (preferably with edge).

now that would have been a great way to get the fans even more excited about smackdown than they are no. and i read vince was furious with the reaction show got when he was revealed as the partner so maybe he is realizing he shouldnt be screwing christian over just because he did what was best for him. his jump to tna didnt even hurt wwe so vince shouldnt care.

At first I was really disappointed, because I really wanted The Brian Kendrick as Jericho's new partner, but a part of me knew the entire time that was wishful thinking.

But like everyone I'm sure, when it turned out to be The Big Show, I was just like, WTF? Even though I've always dug the Big Show, it just didn't make much sense to me. But thinking about it today... it was a good move. I mean, what exactly is there to do with the Big Show that he hasn't already done? You can't come up with a lot of things, can you? However, a partnership with someone like Chris Jericho is a new and fresh direction for Show, which is something he needs to deeply. And the fact is... this situation with Jericho is much better for him than feuding for a worthless title that he'll never win.

Terrible move.
Doesn't look right one bit, and definitely didn't live up to the suspense of who the partner was. As many have agreed, there are many ppl that could have been better partners than him.
Show has been boring since he turned heel and aligned with Vickie. At least when he transitioned to a face after the Mayweather debacle, he was getting pops. Now he is stale, even with the Unified Titles.

And one more thing... I may have missed this promo, but has Big Show ever said he idolized Curt Hennig? Because that is the ONLY thing that may have a possiblilty of stopping me from thinking that the Big Show looks extremely ridiculous and embarassing with that "Mr. Perfect-esque" singlet on. What was he thinking?!!!

Looking at it now, I think it was a great move at first I didn't think so, but I do now and here's why....

Both Show and Jericho are hugely established superstars already with numerous accolades in their respective careers, so while in reality they do not need the titles, the tag title need them, as Jack-Hammer said they can lend some credibility to the titles, it'll make them more prestigous again instead of remaining the jokes they were becoming, because in my opinion, even around the waist's of the Colon's they still weren't credible titles anymore, so with Show and Jericho that problem is solved.

However to keep them credible they now need a decent feud and decent opponents to have good matches with and I think we saw the start of it with Cryme Tyme tonight on Raw, however I do not feel Cryme Tyme should take the titles any time soon if at all in this first feud, let Jericho and Show impost their wills on other teams for a while, let them get close to winning, but not being able to pull it off for a while. Have a nice reign with Show and Jericho before taking the titles off of them, then after we have more established teams and some of the others are moved back up the ranks, have Show and Jericho drop the titles cleanly, then likely move on to feud with eachother, then let the other teams go at it and thus the tag team division is functional again and people are interested in it again, while also giving Jericho and show something to do as well and giving them a feud if they go that direction until Edge comes back. So all in all a great idea actually.

I somewhat would have liked Big Show to win the U.S. Title and be dominant with it like he was in late 2003-early 2004, but I'm cool with him being Jericho's partner. It gives him something to do and hopefully they can have some decent tag team matches. Problem is there aren't that many face teams. Carlito turned on Primo and Cryme Tyme is the only other face team I believe so their options are limited.
