Big Band/Swing Music.

I quite enjoy it, I may have my genres mixed up. Pardon if I mistitled this. I'm talking acts like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby. Wonderful music from an era I wish I could visit. I can't be the only one on here who listens to this. I think Frank Sinatra is simply the best. No one comes close. The man ruled for years and years. His smooth, silky vocals, his charm, his wittiness. He was the King! He had every female hanging off his arm, and every man jealous of him. He's a huge musical influence for any inspiring singer. Discuss your favorite artists, bands, and songs here.

You're not alone. I found myself listening to Swing Music from time to time, especially Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra. It just has that smooth positive vibe to it, and I love that. Such songs like "Mack The Knife" and "That's Life" just reminds me of Ocean's Eleven; and you can't go wrong when you're in that Heist mood.

That, and that kind of music MADE Fallout 3 in my opinion. My favorite from that is "I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire". Classic creepiness. Though sometimes I cross Swing and Big Band with Ragtime. It's been so long ago when it started it's hard to tell any difference. But I still dig the music, totally.

Yea... Big band is not always Swing and Swing is not always Big Band.

Big diff between:
Vs.
Even the Rat Pack stuff is vastly diff from the early Big Band sounds of say the 1920's (Rag Time which was from the late 1800's is a bit too dissimilar). You can hear though as to how Big Band era sounds gave way to Swing and Lindy-Hop and then along with Jazz and other Blues elements morphed into early Rock n' Roll (like Shake, Rattle n' Roll by guys like Bill Haley). It's a slow progression and evolution but it's definitely there.

I love swing music, its brilliant. The songs are relaxing but at the same time make you listen You can just lay back and stick your ipod on with it and the voices are brilliant too, nothing bugs me more than hearing that electro robot singing shit.
I like Michael Buble and Robbie Williams swing album covers too.

I love swing music. It's great. It can range from smooth, slow, and mellow to upbeat, abrasive, and exciting. Some of my favorite crooners are Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, and Harry Connick Jr. They're all great singers and know how to emote when they perform.

One of my favorite aspects of swing music is the songwriting/arranging. Most swing standards were written by some of the best jazz songwriters and songwriting duos ever to have walked the earth. Some of my favorites include The Gershwins, Harold Arlen, Johnny Mercer, Cole Porter, and the duo of Sammy Cahn and Jimmy van Heusen. They knew how to write jazz tunes and they demonstrated this knowledge in every song they wrote.

Some of my favorite jazz recordings are Frank Sinatra's rendition of "My Kind of Town" by Cahn/van Heusen and his rendition of "I've Got You Under My Skin" by Cole Porter.
