Best Rivalry in Sports

There are many to choose from, and I won't make a poll, because there are so many to chose from. We have the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees in baseball, Duke and North Carolina in College Basketball, Ohio State and Michigan in College Football, and so on. So what's the big rivalry guys? Personally, all the afformentioned teams on this list are shit, except Boston, so mine is Kentucky v/s Louisville in College Basketball and Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals in Baseball.

Glasgow Celtic and Glasgow Rangers and it isn't even close. Where do you even start with a rivalry like this?

For a starters they are by far and away the best two teams in Scotland and always finish first and second in the league, meaning every game they play against each other is of vast importance and one slip up could not only cost them the game, but the league title.

If you add in the fact they are both situated in the same city as each other, meaning when you lose you have to put up with the opposition celebrating right in front of you, goading you. Other big rivalries like this the supporters can at least escape the city to get over their defeat. Celtic and Rangers fans have to bump into each other down the pub, in the shops or at work.

Finally, this rivalry goes so much deeper than just a football rivalry; it is religious. Celtic are a catholic team whilst Rangers are protestant. So you see the racial tension in Northern Ireland/Ireland between these two religions, now think of that taking place in just one city. Sectarian chants are always in place during "Old Firm" matches. The atmosphere is always white hot, even if they end up playing each other six times a season. Nothing can match this hatred and atmosphere in the sporting world.
