Best Player to Never Win a Title: NHL

Big Sexy

Deadly Rap Cannibal
The question is simple. Who is the best NHL player to never win a Stanley Cup? Here are some candidates.

Marcel Dionne- This is my pick. He had 6 seasons with at least 50 goals and 8 seasons with at least 100 points. He made the post season 9 times but never made it past the second round. He is probably a top 20-25 player all time in the NHL.

Pat LaFontaine- He made the Cup Finals in his rookie year but never got back. His career is often defined by his injuries and concussions but when healthy he was a tremendous player. He averaged well over a point per game for his career, got at least 40 goals in 7 seasons, and had over 100 points twice.

Mike Gartner- He holds the record with 15 straight seasons of at least 30 goals. In 1993-1994 he played the majority of the season with the Rangers but was dealt to Toronto late in the season. The Rangers won the Cup while the Leafs were knocked out in the West Finals.

Other candidates include: Dale Hawerchuk, Peter Stastny, Gilbert Perrault, etc...

Yeah it's without question Marcel Dionne, the guy is fourth on the all time points list (731 G, & 1040 A, for 1771 pts. in 1348 regular season games) behind Gretzky, Messier, & Howe, in the playoffs he scored 21 G, & 24 A for aa total of 45 points in 49 games, the guy is living proof that it’s about being on the right team at the right time

few other names that I few should be mentioned

-Cam Neely- Injuries plagued him through out his 13 seasons, but when healthy he was danm good, a big strong guy who had a knack for scoring goals, he played 726 reg. season games, scoring 395 goals, and 299 assists, for 694 points, in the playoffs 57 goals, and 32 assists for 89 points in 93 games, Neely missed to opportunities at winning a cup, in '88 & '90, both times the Bruins lost to the Oilers

-Peter Kariya- In 15 seasons in the NHL Kariya has yet to win a Cup, his best chance came in '03 when the Ducks lost a 7 game series to the Devils, Kariya is a scoring machine, in 914 games he has scored 384 goals, and 562 assists, for 946 points, and the playoffs are no different in 46 games he's scored 16 goals and 23 assists for 39 points, Kariya's playing career isn't over but its getting close and the Blues aren't exactly looking like a Stanley Cup contender right now, leaving Kariya's Cup dreams looking slim

-Peter Bondra- Bondra is criminally underrated player, who was stuck a Caps team with little other talent, his best shot was '98 when the Caps made it all the way to the finals only to be swept by the Wings, Bondra scored 892 points in 1081 games (503 goals, & 389 assists), in the playoffs he had 56 points in 80 games (30 goals, 26 assists)

-Trevor Linden- Poor Trevor Linden, his only shot, and the Canucks came up short by 1 goal, Linden would never get another shot in his 19 year career, his 375 goals, 492 assists, for 867 points in his 1382 games was just not enough, nore was his 99 playoff points (34 goals, 65 assists) in 124 games
