Best Current WWE Finisher

Omega

Dark Match Jobber
First thread on the forums so sorry if it's awful.

What do you guys think is the best current wwe finisher? This is just for fun but please give reasons for your choices.

My favourite is quite easily Jack Swaggers Gut Wrench powerbomb, i think it fits his character extremley well and flows very well indeed. The only problem I can see with it as that Swagger will struggle with bigger guys.

To be honest, i cant think of a WWE finisher that looks like it would put an opponent down for the 3 count. There are plenty that look good, shooting star press, attitude adjustment etc but none that look effective. Saying that though i havnt thought it through completely so id happily change my opinion if someone can suggest a finisher i might have missed.

Id have to go with the Gutwrench powerbomb for my choice as well, it looks good, it doesnt require a massive amount of set up and Swagger hits it well consistently.

Hands down I'd have to say 'Sweet Chin Music'...Not only does it look devastating, but Michaels does such a masterful job at making the move effective at the right time/s...

Since WWE limits the movesets that their 'Independent Contractors' are able to execute, They aren't able to be as creative as Wrestlers in other organisations...

Are you smoking something Kipper? lol No offense, but I'm pretty sure some Sweet Chin Music would put you down for a 3 count. And if legit, I'm pretty sure the GTS could put you down for about 3 days. There's just something about a knee to the face with the momentum of the knee coming up at you and you having all the momentum going down... well... that might sting just a tad. Even your daily chokeslam could do so. Being picked up around 8 ft. and 200 or so lbs. of your body going straight to the mat. It could knock the wind out of your sails quickly. Same with a the Spear, or even Batista Bomb, Swagger's gut-wrench. If you hit the ground right (or wrong depending how you look at it), you're going to have the wind knocked out of you... or be just plain knocked out for a good long time. Those are just what I came up with off the top of my head. I know I also forgot some as well.

Now then... the best right know has to be the GTS. Pretty much for the reasons above about momentum of you going down and the knee coming up... just might leave a mark. I did lose a little... what you might call.. resepct..? for it when it took Punk 2 Go To Sleep's to put Hardy away after his epic ladder match with Edge. I mean really? After that match... Hardy kicked out after the first one? Sure it was exciting to see him do that... but I dunno. However... that just doesn't change my opinion. Punk's GTS is the best finisher today. Also... it's original. I know other superstars in ROH and elsewhere have done it before, but it's the first time in the WWE that it was used as a finisher and I think it's pretty brutal.

id say sweet chin music or RKO. sweet chin music can cum out of nowher and looks devastating and can be applied to anyone. RKO is the same but slightly less devastating.

a good finisher needs three things IMO - cum out of nowhere, can be applied to anyone and looks good. RKO and sweet chin music fill all of these categories.

Something like the batista bomb cant really come out of nowhere and cant be applied on the big men

None taken, its a debate, id be offended if people didnt question my opinion lol. And i agree with you to a degree about the effectiveness things like the chokeslam and powerbomb etc but it seems that every big guy atm does a variation of one or the other, there not unique.

My problem with the GTS is realism, dont get me wrong it looks good but if you take a knee to the face with that much force and momentum behind it... you're gonna bleed from somewhere and somethings gonna break. I know with PG and suspension of belief and the fact the vince wont want his wrestlers walking round with facial injuries the move has to be modified for safety but its just unrealistic.

The best current finisher would have to be the moonlight drive.I find this move amazing it can be hit from almost any angle and it fits Morrisons' character a lot.

Totaly agree. But i think SCM is slightly better. Maybe its because i'v always been a fan of HBK but i think mostly its because it doesn't matter how big the person is hes gonna get it in. Yes RKO did just put Show but i'll always put SCM slightly over.

On to Jack Swaggers ender and having trouble with bigger guys. Didn't Swagger nail Mark Henry with it a while back?

The "Swagger" bomb is definitely impressive and i always crave a good rko, but i would have to say my single favorite move to watch would have to be the moonlight drive. Just watching the execution looks like the future of wrestling... perfected. The original version which morrison debuted on cm punk hung up on the second rope was jaw-dropping. I hope it looks devestating in the new smackdown, it'd be great if they added a neckbreaking sound as the corkscrew landed. And ofcourse it could be theoretically done to anyone. One good no dq match where Morrison gets creative and adds a chair to the MLD, I'm sure it'll be the most amazing titantron video clip ever!!!

John Morrison- 2010 Money in the Bank Winner/World Heavyweight Champ

I agree with all your selections , from the finisher being brutal to it has to come from no where . So my pick is some thing that I might get heat about it but I rely love it , its not that famous , it is the runing knee to the face that is done by non other than william regal ,it rely looks brutal when I play wrestling games I always have it on my character its so brutal !!:007: this is my opinion that move is just to damn real cool to me damn it lol .
ohh and the rko kick the buzzsaw kick the gts all cool moves but the running knee is still my favorite .

I may add that my favorite high spot finisher is THE :robvandam: 5 star frog splash , RVD does it and sells it so well it looks rely legit unlike the swanton and the shooting star. also when it comes to move I am a bit of an old school guy who enjoys brutal piledrivers and DDT .

im surprised at some of these answers....why so much love for Swaggers' powerbomb....

Sweet Chin Music -Its classic and deadly...great when he sets it up with the flying elbow and awesome when it just comes out of nowhere. Another aspect is that its one of those moves he can do to the McMahons as well. Also can be done on all guys, little and big.

Tombstone -The move is another classic and shows some power. Not many people ever kick out of the Tombstone....Taker also shows he can do it to little and big guys adding to the move even more.

Codebreaker -Can't lie, at first I didn't like this move and thought it was dumb....but it's grown on me and can be hit at any point from anywhere. He can do it on anyone and at times looks awesome.

Go To Sleep -This move is very powerful and looks awesome when its done right.....this move seems to depend on the person its being done on and if they can sell it. Regal takes the move awesome and looks good....

I think Mike Knox's 'Knox Out' is a stunning finisher and it's pretty original. It's almost like a reverse Russian Leg Sweep twisted into a modified DDT. Great move.

I like Morrisons Moonlight drive and his corkscrew moonsault is also very impressive. Athletic and good on the eye!

Diabese's finisher is a nice impact move too. Very easy to hit especially as it locks from the back like a half nelson. It's a bit like the Rock Bottom.

Established wise I guess the Pedigree is still one of my faves. Never gets boring imo, unlike HHH himself lol!

have we all forgotten about the kofi kingston ja-makin me crazy..that move is fantastic..or the punjabi plunge....or even the killswitch...

Im gonna go with one that I am surprised no one has mentioned. Outside of sweet chin music and the tombstone, it has stood the test of time. (since '95) It would have to be, our good friend, Triple H's pedigree. Imagine someone doing that to you at the community basketball court. On the pavement, this move would send you immediately to your local medical center. Remember back in '96/'97 when he gave that jobber the pedigree and the poor bastard went vertical with it? His body was literally straight up and down, landing directly on the top of his cranium. Botched spot but funny as shit!! So, I likes the pedigree!!

I am a big fan of Jericho's Codebreaker. The impact is abrupt, it is fast and Jericho can set it up in so many ways. Opponents come flying at him off the ropes, Codebreaker. Opponent is stunned and staggering around, Codebreaker. Quick reversal off a move, Codebreaker. I would love to see Jericho leap off the second rope at an opponent like the Big Show and hit him with a Codebreaker from there.

I am also giving my vote to the Miz's new finish, that Leg-snap DDT he gave to Goldust when he was kneeling. The move requires no strength and Miz can completely surprise any opponent who is just trying to regain his footing. Sharp impact, can come out of nowhere, nice move.

Last but not least, I love 'Taker's gogoplata finisher, Hell's Gate. I say this because I have always loved legit shoot holds used as finishers and the gogoplata is definitely a great move when used in jiujitsu class. :p 'Taker can apply it when he is on his back, when his opponent thinks he has him stunned as seen when Edge speared him at WM. He can also do a stepover move when his opponent is downed and he is standing. The move just adds a further dimension to 'Taker's attack to go along with his big power moves.

First thread on the forums so sorry if it's awful.

Don't worry buddy. My threads are consistently awful.

What do you guys think is the best current wwe finisher? This is just for fun but please give reasons for your choices.

I dunno. Either the "Attitude Adjustment" or the "Pedigree." Both do their job, in that they get massive pops from the crowd. That's what a finisher is supposed to do, when you're face. Get a pop and let the crowd know that match is done.

I'm gonna go with the "Attitude Adjustment" though, because it properly showcases Cena's power AND does it's job. The "Pedigree" does it's job, but it isn't really hard to jump up and slam the dude's head into the ground. Awfully emasculating, but meh. That's Triple H for ya.

For me, I think Cody Rhodes has a neat looking finisher in the form of his Cross Rhodes...though if only we got to see it a bit more...

I also think John Morrison has two nice finishers in the form of the Moonlight Drive and Starship Pain.

However, when considering the best current finisher, I think you have to look at those moves that are most over and while it's not my personal favourite I would probably have to go with Cena's Attitude Adjustment...the crowd react to it, it's effective and is impressive looking when performed on guys like the Big Show. Honourable mentions would go to the Pedigree, Tombstone and Sweetchin Music..

I have a few different ones from the ones mentioned.

1. The Worlds Strongest Slam. Any time 400 pound man lifts you up almost over his head, then slams you to the ground, WITH HIM ON TOP OF YOU, all I can say is owwww. And he can probaly do the move to anybody, since he is the worlds strongest man and all.

2. Whatever the Undertaker calls that chokehold he does. This is an obvious choice, it's an MMA hold, so you know it hurts people. (I typed this, then realized someone else included it, my bad)

3. Tombstone Piledriver. If done properly, he drops you on the top of your head. And Owen Hart proved how devastating that could be, since he did nearly paralyze Steve Austin.

4. Randy Orton's Punk Kick. I don't think I need to explain why running at someone and kicking them in the head is devastating, realistic, and can be done to anybody,

5. MVP's Ballin Elbow Drop. Ok, this is almost ad devastating as the WoRM, and the Peoples Elbow, and is included SARCASTICALLY. don't think I am serious.

You know, as simple as this thread is, it actually makes you think a lot. I mean, who's finisher actually LOOKS devastating?!? Most of them have good impact but have no realism to them whatsoever. Some, however, look as if they would do some real damage if ever used in a street fight. Those are the ones that I'm going to focus on.

First, Randy Orton's punt has to be on the list. If you just ran up to someone as they were getting off the ground and kicked them directly in the face, I doubt they would get up.

Secondly, I have to agree with the GTS. If you were able to hoist an opponent onto your shoulders and drop them onto your knee as your knee was rising up to strike them in the face, I doubt they'd be conscious afterwards.

Then, there's Chris Jericho's Codebreaker. It's quick, efficient, and definitely looks like it does damage.

Next, HHH's pedigree could do some serious damage. If you locked someone's arms behind their back and drilled their face into the ground using the force of your entire body, I don't think your opponent would get up anytime soon.

My favorite, however, is by a superstar that recently left the WWE. This person is probably one of the most unlikely choiceS and I'm sure it slipped most of your minds, but whenever they hit their finisher on their opponent, you can hear the crowds' "ooh's" and "ahh's" from a mile away. That person is none other than Victoria with her Widow's Peak. Now, I really can't tell if it would do REAL damage in a fight, but DAMN that shit looks and sounds painful. No diva has ever gotten up from it. Whenever Victoria hits it, you know it's lights out and game over.

For me, as much of an Undertaker mark that I am, I'd have to say the best finisher has to be the Sweet Chin Music - Just the fact that it can be hit out of nowhere, cause maxium impact, the sound of it alone gets the crowd going, and it can be made to look brutal aswell (Referring back to when Shelton Benjamin jumped off the top rope, and HBK hit him in mid air with it...WOW lol)

Also, it works on small guys, a la ReyRey, and can look effective when taking out the bigger guys, a la Big Show.

And plus the fact that a guy my size, and lets just say im no Rey Mysterio, can pull off a sweet chin music beautifully (or so i've been told) gives the move a little bit of bias in my opinion lol

Honourable mentions go to:

Undertaker's Gogoplata, that move is freakin' awesome!
Orton's RKO, love how it can be hit from wherever and whenever.
JoMo's Starship Pain, that just looks so damn cool!
Triple H's Pedigree, the impact of the move looks very effective
Swagger's GutWrench Powerbomb, looks sort of badass

and Undertaker's Tombstone, only because that has such an effect on the end of a match, and plus im an Undertaker mark so meh =) lol

I don't think I can explain it any better than v12dpk did, actually. The Sweet Chin Music looks and sounds amazing; with Shawn knowing exactly how to work the crowd up with his 'tuning the band'. You usually know when it's coming, yet it can also be hit out of no where. Great move, and by far my favourite.

the reason i like randy even more is the head-punt. I have always wanted to beat the hell out of someone and just punt there face in, it looks so real if done correctly. When he hit vince in the skull with the punt, i was impressed. It really looked awesome.

others are..
Starship pain is cool too.
Shooting star press is cool.
Sweet chin music is awesome.
Big shows knockout punch. (in real life he would kill you)
Tombstone!
Swanton bomb.

Worst Attitude adjustment. (No offense but a suplex looks more painful)

#1 goes to the head punt though!

samoan spike anyone? looks awesome when done on people smaller than him as they just hit the deck like a rag doll

I don't understand why everyone is putting Randy Orton's little punt kick at the top of their lists. I mean, what is so special about Randy Orton's foot that causes such grievous injuries? Why doesn't a full force CM Punk head kick or a Sweet Chin Music from HBK do the same damage?

I always though it was better when they booked the elevated DDT that Orton was using as the move that was concussing wrestlers and then the head kick would follow to exacerbate the damage.

Besides, Orton whiffs on the move almost as much as Cena does dropping his stupid Five Knuckle Shuffle. (With the exception of the time he kicked Vince in the head, that DID look sick.)

The Punt Kick Because it will hurt and will be good if someone is injured and they need to play it in the storyline
