Mid-Card Championship Winner
A lot of good responses, particularly ppl who remember the overlooked but well performed pre WWE days of Chris Jericho. Still, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Ric Flair or Rowdy Piper.
Piper was always a nut case, but his Pipers Pit days in the mid 80's were absolute classics. He was definately a great villain but he had plenty of funny moments (poor Bob Orton, seemed the enforcer was always getting beaten up protecting Hot Rod).
Flair was hillarious at the height of the Horsemen in the NWA. Moments like when he dressed a dept store manequin to look like Prescious (arch rival Jimmy Garvin's attractive valet/manager) and proceeded to undress and molest the doll while demonstrating what she could expect when she "rides space mountain" are pure gold. Another was the confrontation with The Rock 'N' Roll Express where Flair pulls out a training bra and explains to Morton the difference between "big girls" like he gets vs "teeny boppers" Morton gets. The catered ring side buffets on Monday Nitro courtesy of Randy Savage's credit cards (confiscated by Elizabeth in her divorce) lead to plenty of over the top funny moments, not to mention the "Be Fair To Flair" skits during his campaign for re-instatement in 1995 were pretty good too.
No one mentioned Kevin Nash, Terry Funk, or George "The Animal" Steele either, mild surprises
