Batista - Gone Forever?!

Today on WWE.com there were several articles that featured Dave Batista (Bautista) & tonight on the network they are featuring "I walk alone" an inside look at Dave - so my question is.....Do you think he is gone from WWE forever?! Is this an attempt by WWE to set up a Batista return? Would you want him back? How would you book him?

They also posted stuff on Nathan Jones...

I don't want to see Batista back. I was never a fan of his and I don't think he should have come back last year. I don't think he will come back now. He is old and offers little - he is losing mass fast and well it is clear the fans don't like him and he didn't like them...

I think Dave is done wrestling, he has become an actor. I thought I heard that Hollywood did not want him to wrestle anymore because there is chance of injury and he may have future movies lined up. I liked Dave back in the day but now he is to old, he should not come back.

Batista got screwed last year. Being debuted when Bryan was so hot and the logical choice to win the Rumble wasn't fair. To his discredit, he didn't exactly make lemonade out of his lemons. He sure didn't even try to hide his displeasure with the crowd reactions. And what was he thinking with the skinny jeans and his ring attire?

The crowd wanted the old Batista that wore suits and had ring gear that looked like he had killed a freaking dragon, skinned it, and laced it up for boots. What was the deal with the boots he wore in 2014? It looked like he had sneakers and knee high socks on.

His matches on return were decent. Aside from the Rumble, vs Del Rio wasn't bad, the match at Mania was decent, and I loved his encounters with the Shield. It's all about presentation. Boo-tista was a pretty good heel if you ask me, but it wasn't what he signed on for.

Guardians of the Galaxy was a smash hit, and WWE would be fortunate to have Batista return. If he does, he needs to be consistent. He needs to go full Boo-tista and embrace his skinny jeans, hokey ring gear, and depression beard.

If he's face, he needs to buddy up with Bryan, wear ring gear that makes him look like a mythical dragon warrior, and if he's wearing civilian clothes, keep it simple. Look at what the Rock wore as a face: cut off sleeves of one of your t-shirts, track pants for mobility.

He's no spring chicken, in your late 40s your mass diminishes. Batista is a huge star and if he wants to come put over the young guys, we should be happy to have him back. A retirement match vs Triple H would be cool, but not for a few years. vs Orton would also be decent too.

Yea if Guardians of the Galaxy had flopped, or if he hadn't been chosen for the new Bond film, I think we would have seen him back. As it is though, he's gone to Hollywood and while he might remember his roots in the WWE at times, I doubt we will see him back in the ring.

The last time he tried for an MMA career he was gone for 4 years. When he came back at the Rumble as the chosen one to win, that's when fans started to go nuts. Couple Bryan's popularity and Batista's own attitude, it spelled disaster. The only good thing about it was that Evolution reformed and we had a couple of cracker jack matches between them and the Shield. He has no reason to return.

Gone forever now....but as an active competitor yes....If he comes back to wrestle it will be a Rock Type deal where he has a match at Mania and a little build up...(as a matter of fact if there schedules worked out I can see a Rock/Batista match for Mania due to the Hollywood
The Kurgan vs the Scorpion King
Drax vs Black Adam
Mr Hinx vs Mr Hobbs

He won't want to return and get injured that'll put a temporary curtian to his Hollywood career so I don't think he'll return. His attitude won't let him put over any guys so why would you want to see a 46+ year old guy to return to the roster which contains lots and lots of young talents.

Last time when he returned he couldn't even hit a Spinebuster or the Sitout Powerbomb without botching (he almost botched) Moreover there isn't gonna be a place for him nevertheless if he wants to put over some talents but that's more unlikely.

Cheers!!

He is a ironclad future HALL OF FAMER..He will come back to WWE for sure at some point but i dont see it anywhere in the near future..He is fully concentrating on his movie career right now..Maybe he can return to promote one of his movies but last time he tried to do that it ended up terrible for him..So i dont see him coming for at the least another 3 years..

i just saw an interview with him where he said he loved wrestling, but wasn't thrilled with creative and the pg rating. he talked about just doing house shows like jericho does.

I don't think he's gone "forever", but for the foreseeable future, I would say yes. His career is really starting to take off in Hollywood and I'm very happy for him. Batista seems like the type of guy who would try anything once... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but you gotta respect the guy for giving his all in everything he does. Batista was 33 when he started in WWE and has gone on to become a HOF talent in a short time span, and now he's doing the same in Hollywood at 45.

Also at 45, why should he come back? To be booed by the people who don't even seem to want him there anymore? I think he'll focus on acting for a long, long time before showing up again.

His comeback was a disaster. The popularity of Daniel Bryan at the time meant that anyone else winning the Rumble would have seen the WWE Universe boo the hell out of them, we even seen it this year with Roman Reigns.

As for his comments on the booking and the PG era, well he knew what he was getting into.

I don't want to see Batista back, I didn't even want to see him back last year.

 He tapped out to Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania and let The Shield make him a crash test dummy.

4 years without wrestling.

Moreover there isn't gonna be a place for him nevertheless if he wants to put over some talents but that's more unlikely.

Batista vs Lesnar
Batista vs The Rock
Batista vs Roman Reigns

Those are just the money feuds. Batista's growing star in Hollywood adds to his value to the WWE. I hope Batista isn't gone forever.

Booking him to win Royal Rumble was way over the top but nobody could tell me that he wasn't priceless in Wrestlemania vs Bryan and in Evolution vs Shield match. Granted, Wrestlemania match could be done without him but he added at least his starpower if nothing else and reforming Evolution and leting Shield go over them was good call by WWE.

Dont think he should be "jobbing" in way Jericho does(in means that he comes back and loses even against Fandango) but as long as he has something to add I can watch him in WWE. Though after succes of "Guardians of Galaxy" and his good critics dont think that he would be that much eager to come back to wrestle when he could be making millions in Hollywood.

Batista vs Lesnar
Batista vs The Rock
Batista vs Roman Reigns

Why would you just say that Batista still needs to put over The Rock. Roman Reigns seems to be a legitimate contender but with Batista not returning for another two years, he'll be 48 and the feud with Roman Reigns is gonna be just like Roman Reigns vs Big Show. No one is gonna be so anticipated about this feud (If its ever gonna happen)

Cheers!!

At the moment he is interested in untelevised wrestling events. He is not completely done with wrestling just yet. He loves wrestling, but he can't stand the way the WWE has been operating. It was creative fault for the horrible booking. It should've been Batista as a face feuding against a heel all the way till WrestleMania. He never should've been part of the Royal Rumble match. What they should've done is have him in a match against a heel opponent. That would've been the perfect option. Batista's dream match in the WWE right now is against Brock Lesnar. If it were up to me, I would've had Brock not lose the WWE title until Batista comes back and beats Brock. He would be the perfect opponent to beat Brock Lesnar for the WWE title.

Wrestling fans didn't exactly welcome him back with open arms during last years return.
He'll probably be making a lot more money making movies without the wear and tear on his body would endure on a full time wrestling schedule, So I can't imagine he will be in a hurry to come back to the WWE.

I agree, his wrestling days are over.
He might pop in from time to time to plug a movie, kind of like the Rock.
He can make so much more in movies than wrestling.
And with much as studios put into their talent..You won't see him the ring...
NO studio wants to go through what happens when Rock tore those muscles in his abdomen...a few weeks off can cost millions!!

He has said before he was coming back but big Dave's acting career has gone better than many expected. Not just with Guardians being a huge hit but also landing a spot in the new James Bond film. We probably won't see Batista again for a few years.

Personally, he can come back or stay away....I don't care one way or the other. Earlier in this post, someone suggested he come back only in a Rock-type deal with a one-and-out performance. Of course, if that were to happen, WWE certainly couldn't expect the response Rock would get.

A lot depends on how the company regarded what happened last time he returned. Were they legitimately surprised at his negative reception? Did they tell Batista: "Look, there's a chance they're gonna hate you." What did Dave Bautista himself think of it? Did he believe the fans were going to fall on their butts at the mere thought of his return to the ring? The answers to all this probably resound in the walls of WWE headquarters in Stamford, with no one allowed to repeat them outside those hallowed halls.

As to his future in pro wrestling, if I were Batista, I'd stay away....especially since his movie "career" is doing well. Why subject himself to the stuff he put up with last time?

He should stay away. His movie career is taking off and he doesn't need to get injured and screw that up. He doesn't need the WWE and doesn't like they way they operate now anyway.

There is nothing left for him to do in the ring.

Personally, I have no real interest in Batista returning. I was never particularly a fan of the guy back when he was a full time member of the roster and I've no real interest in seeing him return as a special attraction that'll get paid tons of money, wrestle maybe a single match and have tons of TV time devoted to him. If I felt Batista had anything worthwhile to contribute, it wouldn't bother me to see him come back but it wouldn't interest me all that much either. WWE's got tons of guys on the roster who're incredibly well built, yet much more interesting as characters and more entertaining to watch inside the ring, at least in my eyes.

Besides, Batista's film career may well be taking off; Guardians of the Galaxy was a huge critical and commercial success, Batista got good reviews for his role as Drax, he's playing a villain in the next James Bond movie, he's going to be in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel and considering how Marvel's Cinematic Universe is all interconnected, he might pop up as part of the Guardians during the "Avengers: Infinity War" sequels. Besides that, there could be other lucrative roles Batista could be pegged for but, just as with The Rock, the thought of Batista wrestling and risking suffering significant injury is something that might make some high power executives at the studios very nervous. As a result, there's the risk Batista could be passed over for some big money movie roles and considering that Batista is alleged to spend money like the world's gonna end the next day, he needs big paychecks. Sure, WWE could offer Batista a massive payday, but there's a point in which WWE has to view it as throwing away money because there's a limit to how much anybody's worth. Besides, when you consider the unenthusiastic response to Batista's return nearly 1.5 years ago, you have to consider the possibilities that whatever plans WWE would have for him might have to b altered just like they were last year; also, allegedly, there's tension between Batista and WWE management because of changes made last year, though there's no way of knowing if it's true. Allegedly, Batista had no problem jobbing to Daniel Bryan and would do it again at Extreme Rule last year but, again, allegedly, some reports say the exact opposite and it's why he was put into the six man tag with Evolution against The Shield. Recently, Batista has slammed WWE Creative for not making Titus O'Neil a star as he's always been a fan of his work.

I don't think he's gone forever but I only think we'll see him wrestle once more, as a retirement match. Big Dave loves the business, but he's making good inroads in Hollywood now with his roles in the Guardians of the Galaxy and in the new James Bond film, and he'd be a fool to risk throwing away possible big money film roles to wrestle a few matches. Batista's always been quite injury pone, so I culd see film studios passing on him if there's the chance he could get injured wrestling again. At Batista's age, he isn't going to want to be a full-time in WWE again, but I was always a fan of the guy, so I'm holding out hope we'll see him back n the ring at least once more before he properly calls it a day.

He is not a movie star at all at this point.

He simply got lucky and was placed in a popular movie.

I guess he might be back at a later date once movie offers
dry up.

I don't think he's gone. I don't think it's a set up for him to return either. I just thnk they're just trying to take advantage of the exposure Batista has been getting lately with his new movie roles.

I'd love to see him back. I'd have him return as a member of The Authority. He could fill the muscle role that Show and Kane have failed to fill. For example, he could cost Ambrose his match at EC or go even further down the line and cost Brock his title rematch and face Brock on a big stage like WrestleMania.

I think if he came back, it would be on a "part-time" basis, to fit in around his growing movie career.

The perfect place would be at a Wrestlemania, especially if he has a film coming out around then, and it can get a lot of mainstream attention. I'm betting Vince would use this to promote Wrestlemania in the mainstream press.

How about a perfect match- movie star v movie star.

Have at a Wrestlemania, star of "Guardians Of The Galaxy" and "Spectre" Batista versus the star of "The Scorpion KIng" and "Fast & The Furious" films, the Rock.
