Ive come to appreciate it, yes. I think the "sheriff's department is holing up sex slaves" is an unneccessary development, because do they really need to make everyone on the show a bad person? There's enough crazy in Vera Farmiga(Norma) to last the entire show.
But Max Theriot(Dylan) has really been a saving grace for me. He's been that 'middle ground' pulling at Norman, seeming reasonable about Norma, but still not enough to break Norman's allegiance to his mother. If he lasts the season, I'll be shocked, but he was a welcome addition the second he strutted in and said "Hi Norma."
He's got an arrogance that makes him unlikeable, but he seems to generally care about Norman. But I think his disdain for Norma will be his ultimate downfall by season's end. And I can't say enough about Vera Farmiga as Norma. She's brilliant in the role, and it's such a huge departure from anything she's ever done before.
It's not a great show, but it's a guilty pleasure, clustermuck.
My question is, which main character dies next? Deputy Shelby? Dylan? Bradley, as I'm wondering if Norman's 'sexual encounter' with her was real, or a dream, and she rebuffs him, which perhaps starts his murderous ways?
My money is on Dylan.
