#axlemania....Could it be getting Curtis Axel over?

#Axelmania is running wild. I think this is being done for involvement of Hulk Hogan in the US Championship match at Wrestlemania but I would love to be proved wrong. As some rumors have stated that, Hulk Hogan is about to be included in the US Championship match between John Cena and Rusev at Wrestlemania. So,this may end up being Rusev vs John Cena w/ Hulk Hogan. Hopefully, we should also get John Cene vs Rusev vs Curtis Axel.

It's so hard to say whether something big is being planned for Curtis Axel's benefit. Sure, he's currently getting some mileage out of the "I was never eliminated at the Rumble" schtick, yet, not only can I not see what Creative would plan to grow from this.....I can't imagine why they'd want to.

To me, Curtis Axel is a career midcarder, designated to be a supporting player for the rest of his career, never a top singles act. If management can find something that proves me wrong, I'd love to see it.

In the meantime, as long as all his bragging, posturing and pointing to the WM31 banner in the arena continues......yet he keeps on getting crushed in the actual matches.....I would think the company is just giving him some air time in reward for being a good soldier backstage.

I just don't see Curtis Axel achieving any real success as a singles guy- to me he just screams lower card act, or as a member in a tag-team- I don't think he has the charisma to do much on his own.

However, at least this "Axelmania" thing is SOMETHING for him to do, and he's getting a bit more attention than in the past. The issue will be, once WM31 is over...what does he do then? There will be no sign to point to, the "I should be at 'Mania as I wasn't eliminated from the Rumble" complaint will be irrelevant. It will be interesting to see if Creative give him something else to do.

Maybe he's unfairly eliminated from the Andre The Giant Battle Royale and can feud with the eventual winner, claiming the trophy is rightfully his, as he wasn't actually eliminated....just a thought.

As long as AxelMania remains a MidCard comedy flash in the pan type act, then I have no problem with it as it does provide legit entertainment during the 'down-time' of the long 3 hr show.

However, I would be baffled if this Cena-Rusev feud over the US title has Axel has an important third wheel which results in him somehow winning the US title, assuming the plan is for both MidCard titles to be elevated(which is why Cena with the US title and Bryan with the IC title looks so enticing).

Of course, the WWE could be looking at a way to get the US title off of Rusev because they have no plans to make that title important compared to the IC title, and thus, want to rid Rusev of it before a possible Main Event push post-Mania. In such a case, I have no problems with a hot lower card act like Axel getting it, just don't expect him to be taken seriously as a US Champion.

There are reports of that Axel interrupting Rusev's promo on SmackDown! last night is a tease to a match that'll happen this Monday on Raw. If correct, then Axel would receive a United States Championship match against Rusev for WrestleMania.

If this match goes down, I believe it'll just be used as a means for Cena to interrupt Axel being severely beaten down after having been decimated in a 2 or 3 minute match. Cena will stick his nose into things, viciously assault Rusev as part of a means of convincing Rusev to give him a return match for the championship at WrestleMania.

Another possible alternative, although one with virtually no chance of happening, is that Cena interferes on Axel's behalf and causes Rusev to be disqualified, counted out or even pinned, thereby giving Axel his win and his title match. I don't see it happening as they've made much too big of a deal about Rusev being all but undefeated to have his first pinfall loss come at the hands of a mid-card comedy jobber that Cena himself decimated in about 2 minutes this past Monday. I'm hoping this isn't a plan but it wouldn't surprise me it's the sort of scenario that fits Vince McMahon's schizophrenic booking decisions.
